Breakfast Topic: What do you want to see in the Argent Tournament?

In short, come 3.2, it seems more than likely that we can expect the Goblins to be done building that coliseum, and the next phase of the tourney to be underway. So the question is, what exactly will we see?
I can't help but hope to see the return of the old factional armor. I've complained about this before, but I miss the distinctive look of many of the old faction-specific PvP armor sets, especially for plate wearers. It offered a distinct fashion and way to show off your factional loyalties if faction-based RP or Battlegrounding was your pleasure. Sure, it technically still exists in the level 60 gear, but that's level 60, and I'm pretty sure my Death Knight can't get a set at all.
So I'm saying I want them to at least bring back the helm and shoulders, so that we can wear something distinctive that shows our factional loyalty without being near useless in an actual battle. Just because my Death Knight is an undead abomination doesn't mean he's not a loyal subject of King Wrynn!
Another thing I might like to see is guild championing. I play on a roleplay server, and my guild has a robust roleplay back story. We're a group of refugees who lived in Northrend before the Scourge invasion, and we wish to return to Northrend, reclaim our homes (Or, in the case of our non-refugee members, start a new life in Northrend), and establish a new nation. If we had our druthers, we'd definitely have our own tent in the tourney with our own grand champion and the like.
I realize that's something we'll never actually see, but it might be fun to have some minor guild championing options that would allow you to wear your guild tabard's symbol on your champion's flag when jousting, or to spend your champion's seal on things emblazoned with said symbol, maybe a cloak or a banner.
So be it new rewards, new quests, or new mechanics, what are some of your ideas and wishes for the next phase of the Tournament?

Horse-riding raid instance ?

Just given the sheer amount of jousting we're doing (valiants/champions and the dailys in front of Icecrown Citadel), I'm putting money down on Icecrown having at least one boss that uses those mechanics.
Edanas Apr 25th 2009 10:45AM
Icecrown Citadal ends up being done on horseback, we end up killing Arthas through jousting... lol

Gambling.

We'll have to assault Icecrown from underneath, battling through ancient Titan-hewn magical caves that were once forges for the raw materials of creation, where huge rock platforms float just above a seething ocean of lava. We'll have to put our jousting skills to the test as we ride Hawkstriders that can leap from platform to platform. This won't be easy as the Lich King has detected our assault, and has deployed his own jousting Death Knights to topple us into the fiery oblivion below!
This new instance/raid/tournament daily offers so much challenge and fun that it will be bundled and released separately! Here's a commercial spot:

I'd like to see gear worth buying for someone that has some heroic and naxx gear. Atleast weapons compairable to Naxx drops, since weapons seem to never drop for my guild. We've seen Armageddon drop once in our many kills of the Horsemen.

one on one (player vs. npc) events that would reward some arena points to obtain the tier 2 gladiator gear
RogueJedi86 Apr 25th 2009 8:24AM
Player viewable arena matches like Blizz has hinted at wanting to do for a while based on player wishes. Let us sit in the Argent Colosseum stands and watch players fight in arena.

I love having a squire, but the current options are very limited.
How about squires of more than one race and gender? They've already got models for young folk of almost all types, see the orphans around the cities and Children's Week.
Maybe the chance to have a quire from each race you are champion of, male or female. I know my character would like to sponsor a fellow female in the ways of honor and duty.
Oh, and how about the ability to purchase a mount for your squire, maybe a pony or a donkey (or racial equivalent). I feel sorry for them running/bumbling along beside me when I'm mounted. It could appear when you mount and disappear when you unmount.

I like the idea of squires giving lances so u don't have to carry them
Mattimus Apr 25th 2009 11:05AM
I think they've only done male Human and Orc, and female Draenei and Blood Elf children. The rest are babies, and I don't think we're getting squire babies.
Rylka Apr 25th 2009 11:36AM
There are "squire-aged" orphans in the capital cities and Lower Shatt that I've seen, and models like the female dwarf kid that sells rabbits near Ironforge scattered around the worlds. They don't cover all the possible combos of race and gender, but they certainly have more models already in game then the choices we have for squires right now.
The only potential hiccup I could see with allowing differently skinned squires would be that it would up the number of available pets meaning certain achievements might need to be rebalanced.
I still have a special place in my heart for the dranei and blood elf girls from Outlands Children's Week. I'd be happy if just those got added as squire choices.

There are male and female humans, orcs (and Mag'Har orcs), draenei and blood elves that I've seen.
I'd like to see wee trolls and tauren. :

I would like to see less gimmicks and more use of my gear when completing these quests. Having to joust to complete quests makes no use of my gear (that I spent so long accumulating and really enjoy using)!!!!!!! Less jousty gimmicky quests and more use of my gear (let me stab something with my dagger/sword, .....)
Rijthul Apr 25th 2009 9:04AM
Isn't that what instances/raids/pvp/every other killing task in the game involves? Using your weapons and gear?
That could be the best part of the tournament, in my eyes. For the jousting segments, I can put together whatever outfit I want to display my character in (currently rocking the Sen'jin Doublet and a few other have-no-purpose-but-looking-good items) and still take down my opponents.
Not to mention it's fun challenging someone to a duel and not worrying about how much resilience/stam they have, or what spec they are, etc. Just good clean wholesome time impaling each other with lances!
JPN Apr 25th 2009 9:47AM
That's what you use to kill 10/15 Scourge and Chillmaw...the jousting is what keeps it fresh and new and different...otherwise it's just a bunch of fetch/kill quests like QD. I've liked learning the jousting, it's fun.
Grak Apr 27th 2009 9:51AM
@Rijthul
You raise a good point; jousting duels are pretty much the purest form of PvP in the game right now. Your race/class/spec/gear are all utterly irelavant.. instead each person has the exact same health, exact same abilities, and exact same damage output.. the only difference is pure skill. Its what PvP should be more about.
Lanth Apr 25th 2009 8:29AM
Hell yes I want the old 60 PvP gear back, even if it's just recoloured. I still have my rare PvP set on my 'Lock, purely because it looks exactly like a Warlock should, all red and spiky and such.
Eisengel Apr 25th 2009 6:45PM
Seconded!
For example, look at the Season 6 Priest DPS set:

And look at the old level 60 rare-quality Champion's Investiture set:

Now... which looks more like a Priest of the Forgotten Shadow who is about to wrack your fragile being with so much Shadow energy that your brains squirt your ears?

I have a hunch that the Tournament is training us for mounted combat in an instance again, just as the daily quest involving the red drakes outside the Nexus was a "trainer" to phase 3 of Malygos.
