Breakfast Topic: How's Noblegarden going so far?
The title seems self-explanatory; are you enjoying Noblegarden? How many people are participating on your server? Do you already have the achievements done, or are they a work-in-progress?I have to admit I'm writing this expecting a lot of comments to come back noting that it's pretty hard to get this holiday done when spawn points on the eggs are camped 24/7. For my part, I vastly underestimated how much of a nuisance that was going to be on the live realms. That aside, Noblegarden does seem to be one of the more efficient holidays, particularly if you get lucky with item drops, and I think this is also the first time Blizzard's made it possible to get all the achievement items you need as purchases in the event that Lady Luck spends the week being an indifferent mistress. The ability to buy achievement items certainly settles what was by far the biggest complaint concerning Love Is In the Air. For that holiday, your ability to complete the meta-achievement was ultimately determined by the RNG, to the point where Blizzard hotfixed the drop rate on a key achievement item after the forums went kaboom.
This time around, you don't need to worry about that as long as you can get enough Noblegarden Chocolate. Time to knuckle down, plunk a frosty beverage at your side, and tell that jerk who's camping your spawn to go find his own friggin' eggs. Ahhhh, the holiday spirit!

Watch out, Max! That head is not a head, it's a bomb!
afrobubble252 Apr 27th 2009 8:13AM
You're an irritable bunny today, Max.

Over all the event blows. Camping eggs for hours is not fun.
"but Cor your not required to camp" True, but then you are skipping the event so why have it?
I will never understand why blizz continually misses the mark on these events. Have eggs spawn zone wide, not only by a town. Double or triple the number of eggs avalible at any time. Who cares if focused people do it in only a few hours, as least they will be having fun!

"Who cares if focused people do it in only a few hours, as least they will be having fun!"
actually i had it done in under a couple hour's camping a 5 egg spawn spot. it probably would have taken longer if i had to go all over the nub zones to find them. not complaining either way. was fun competing with everyone, and lamenting the woe's of trying to find lvl 18+ female dwarf's and orcs with my brethren.
volant Apr 27th 2009 8:06AM
Got the last one, a female dwarf for "Shake Your Bunnymaker", last night.
Jason Apr 27th 2009 10:38AM
Same...I finally found what I can only assume is the only Female Dwarf on my server last night and then got sick on chocolate eggs.
Now I just need to get ready for Children's Week.

Aside from no-one buying my auctions on the AH(too busy camping thos damn eggs) i haven't noticed it much.
Azzarrea Apr 27th 2009 11:48AM
So true! I went to the AH in IF and SW to try to find the people I needed for Shake Your Bunny Maker, and there was no one there! It was crazy! After I saw that I gave up on selling anything this week, better to just wait.
Tordenflesk Apr 27th 2009 8:07AM
Oh, and my newly created Dwarf Female Paladin's very popular around newbie-zones :P

I was only in it for the rabbit pet, and I managed to get that yesterday after running in circles around Dolanaar for about an hour. People were camping the eggs pretty much everywhere, but it wasn't hostile - there wasn't any complaining in General about people swiping eggs or anything. My character was also the only human female running around there, so I got eared a lot. *grin*
I understand why people camp, but to me, sitting in one place for hours to snag eggs every time they spawn kind of defeats the purpose of an easter egg *hunt*. But, to each their own.
Also: Sam & Max FTW.

Very much agreed. I was, however, wondering what could have been done differently to prevent egg camping (or at least make it not impossible to get any eggs by really hunting for them).
The only ways I saw were:
1. Make the spawn points truly random (probably not practical/possible from a programming perspective)
2. Greatly increase the number of possible spawn points (you'd probably still end up with campers, just in more spots)
3. Greatly increase the area where the eggs can spawn (probably the one I'd choose, given the option)

Hoe about making it so the eggs are always there. but once you loot it you cant loot that one again for 10 minutes. this way you can run around and not have campers
rosencratz Apr 27th 2009 9:38AM
People just need to realise there is no server first achievement, Racing to be the first "noble" isn't going to get you incredible street cred. Collecting the achievements gradually over several days is totally feasable.
By the last day of the event, what with the ease of the achievements for it, there'll probably be barely anyone camping anymore.
Graham Apr 27th 2009 9:49AM
What about a anti-camping debuff? If you loot an egg in a specific place, you can't loot another one unless it is more than 15 yards away. Just a thought.
Oh and also, lady luck is still relevant. One of the achievements is to get the full tuxedo suit FROM EGGS. So even though I currently have the pants and the shirt, I don't have the achievement because I got the pants from another player.
Kcaz64 Apr 27th 2009 10:02AM
Some people (like me) just wanted to get it done as fast as possible so we can over with it and not worry about getting it done before it ends.
I highly doubt anyone cared about being the first to do it.
Quill2006 Apr 27th 2009 10:10AM
Yes, there is an achievement to get the suit from eggs; the fancy dress also. Fortunately for those trying to get the Noble Gardener achievement for the seasonal event meta achievement, neither of those achievements count towards the meta. They're just there in case you get them. Fun, but not likely to make the servers go kaboom.
I for one got three pairs of pants but no dress and no shirt. I also got two rabbits. I'm not sure what to do about the second other than delete it, as it's soulbound.

I am an egg camper.
I have to. I am so damned slow, retarded, whatever, I cannot beat anybody to an egg in the open.
I have to sit there and right click on the spawn point constantly. If I wait for the gear to appear and then click, an egg ninja will take it.
In response to the poster who said the egg sites will be empty on the last day...are you kidding? Have you not seen how many PUGS start Naxx at 10:00pm server on Monday nights?
AyaJulia Apr 27th 2009 12:29PM
kcaz64 and jfofla have it.
I tried hunting, but every time I found an egg, someone was already sprinting to it. This was before I had my basket, so I had no way to compete whatsoever and resigned myself to HAVING to camp in short order.
A minute later, I had myself a spot where I could click two eggs the instant either spawned. And, comparing myself to the people running around like mad, it was about the same length of time getting the whole event done.
Honestly, the second anyone looted an egg, another one spawned. Wouldn't it be better to have them looted instantly? All you hunters had faster spawns to dash after because of all us campers. I can understand if EVERY SINGLE SPAWN was camped, but that wasn't the case on my server at least. :)
As much as I would've liked for this event to be exciting, the desire to have it over and done with as soon as possible with minimal hassle is what turns people to camping.
