Breakfast Topic: How's Noblegarden going so far?
The title seems self-explanatory; are you enjoying Noblegarden? How many people are participating on your server? Do you already have the achievements done, or are they a work-in-progress?I have to admit I'm writing this expecting a lot of comments to come back noting that it's pretty hard to get this holiday done when spawn points on the eggs are camped 24/7. For my part, I vastly underestimated how much of a nuisance that was going to be on the live realms. That aside, Noblegarden does seem to be one of the more efficient holidays, particularly if you get lucky with item drops, and I think this is also the first time Blizzard's made it possible to get all the achievement items you need as purchases in the event that Lady Luck spends the week being an indifferent mistress. The ability to buy achievement items certainly settles what was by far the biggest complaint concerning Love Is In the Air. For that holiday, your ability to complete the meta-achievement was ultimately determined by the RNG, to the point where Blizzard hotfixed the drop rate on a key achievement item after the forums went kaboom.
This time around, you don't need to worry about that as long as you can get enough Noblegarden Chocolate. Time to knuckle down, plunk a frosty beverage at your side, and tell that jerk who's camping your spawn to go find his own friggin' eggs. Ahhhh, the holiday spirit!

Go Drenden!
Goldshire was insane. I did most of mine in Azure Watch, which was pretty fun to run around, especially with all the drops on assorted roofs. I need to get about 100 more eggs, and then I can finish it off.
Annoying, grindy, but fun in the end.

Got the title on my Troll Shaman last night. :)
Protip: Camping is slow. Keep running around with Egg Rush going! Also, keep your camera at an angle above and behind you to spot those crafty hiding spots. (Like the one next to the mailbox in Razor Hill)

I finished it, but I thought it was (like most seasonal achievements) retarded. Not looking forward to childrens week - I hate wsg :( - kinda wish I had a melee set to recover flags easier with.

Random droprate is only an issue for time-limited achievements that are part of meta-achievements. There will always be some achievements that have RNG built in, and these are usually removed from the meta-achievement for that reason. The rewards from the RNG achievements for this holiday can be purchased whether you get the achievements or not.
IOW, the only people still complaining about RNG achievements that aren't linked to meta-achievements are being, for lack of a better word, silly.

I'm already done! YAY! :D

All done today in maybe 5 hours.

Ninja Bunny! I would happily ninja an egg from in front of a camper's nose. In Azure Watch every single egg spawn point was being camped. What am I to do? Stand around until a camper decides to leave then take their spot? So funny watching two bunnies fighting over eggs!
The best thing to do is run around and just loot the eggs when you see then, they spawn so often. Or stay in the same spot and not freak out if someone is quicker then you and takes the egg!

I have all the achievements done and I have my title. That Proto Drake shall be mine!
I stayed up until the event started, then I proceeded to run around in a circle hunting eggs for three hours. I got two bunnies, two dresses, three tux shirts, one pair of pants, two flowers, two robes, and one set of bunny ears. And countless chocolates. I never camped any spots. I just kept running around in a circle to check the spots where I saw they spawned! And people COMPLAIN about being on a low pop server!
The next day had me doing the other achievements that didn't have me hunting eggs. One awesome person had parked their feamle dwarf right in the middle of Dalaran and would click off her ears every time she was eared so another person could get the achievement. Thank you to who ever that was on Darromere!

I'm definitely late to the conversation, but annoys me to no end that campers tout that it's "good manners" to leave their camp spots alone.
I have absolutely nothing against camping; I do it myself, regularly, and happily. However, I have no illusions about what I'm doing. I also don't mind if others share "my" camping spot. It has absolutely no bearing on manners, or courtesy, or "treating people in a nice way." Why?
1. By camping, you're effectively eliminating one spot from the.. say.. 20-30 different possible egg spawn points. In other words, you're contributing to shutting out a certain segment of the population from participating. That is not "courteous." Sure, it may be *necessary* because of the silly mechanics that Blizzard put into place, but I can see absolutely no rational argument that "camping" is a behavior that is courteous to the other players trying to participate.
That said, since campers weren't doing anything particularly well mannered in the first place, someone else squeezing into "your" camping spot isn't doing anything better, or worse than you already did.
In other words, please get off of that high horse.
2. I entirely agree with Balius: the fact that you arrived there earlier has absolutely no bearing on whether or not you have a "right" to the eggs that spawn in that particular spot.
3. If you're sitting there staring at a spot, and a person runs by and *joink!* -- grabs your egg from under your nose, it's no one's fault but your own. The fact that people call this "stealing" makes me laugh. When I camped, and people were faster, more nimble, and beat me to the eggs that I was camping, I laughed and commended them for their quickness. Look to point #2 again: those eggs aren't yours. They're everyone's.
Let's look at it another way: you (or I) just started camping a spot. Maybe instead of the runners stealing it from you (or me), it's you (or I), as the camper, who is stealing the eggs from the general populace.

My wife and I went to Azure Watch and ran around for an hour or so collecting the eggs. There were probably about 5-15 other people there at the same time, so as long as we kept moving we were able to find the eggs. What I didn't like was not more than 20 eggs or so after I bought the Rabbit's foot I got it from an egg, argh! Same thing happened with my wife and her bouquet of flowers. We got almost everything done except Shake Your Bunny-Maker, I am having problems finding a female tauren & orc. Anyone got any recommendations for identifying those two races?
Willow Apr 27th 2009 5:40PM
Over 300 eggs and still no dress or bunny. :P Funny situation, tho:
Was doing the run-around thing in Brill, which I've found works best for me. Ran past a spawn point that was being camped and saw someone basically say "Oh, can't find your OWN spot, huh?" This made me halt in my little bunny tracks. I tried to fight the overwhelming urge to do it, but could not resist. Out of my little bunny mouth flies "There are not nearly as many egg-spawn-spots as there are players on the server. These are not YOUR eggs and this is not YOUR spot. Read the TOS, Blizzard owns the game content." The accused and I swapped a few comments back and forth about the play styles of others. After that, the accuser left the spot in what I assume was embarrassment.
I don't go out of my way to "ninja" eggs from those camping. However, if I come across you and "your" spot as an egg spawns and I click on it before you do, I have no feelings of remorse. It's a game. Play it how it works for you. If you find yourself getting upset, perhaps it is time to re-think your strategy.

Finding dwarf, orc and tauren females in Dalaran is a real challenge, especially if the few who are available do not promptly remove the bunny ears when they get tagged. I spent a good chunk of my playtime to warp through that world event. No fun to be had at all - makes you wonder why I did it - besides the meta-achievement.
The Claw Apr 27th 2009 7:11PM
Most boring and un-fun holiday event in the history of WoW, and that's saying something, given that this is the game that gave us the Lunar Festival elder visiting.

I felt terrible and called myself all kinds of ninja the first time I grabbed an egg and realised that the little pink bunny there waiting for it was actually another player waiting for it (I have name plates turned off).
Once I got over that, I started to quite enjoy it. Especially when I realised that running around the town looking for them gets more eggs than sitting camping on one spot for ages.
I've already collected a lot of the things I need and I have a number of friends who got the title not long after it started. I expected to see more obnoxious behaviour but surprisingly I haven't seen much.
Having eggs more widely scattered, and some in more obscure hiding spots, would be even more fun.
Dementron Apr 28th 2009 12:44AM
What I find really funny is that I'm reading these comments to pass the time WHILE egg camping.
Dementron Apr 28th 2009 12:54AM
Heh, I also find it funny that some people have trouble finding female Tauren. I see them all over on Uther, not even considering the two that I play, and the one my best friend has. I can think of five others I see all the time in my guild alone. Plenty of female trolls too.
Dwarves and orcs on the other hand...
Just about cried for joy when I finally found an orc.
KJP Apr 28th 2009 1:09AM
Went back to Azuremyst tonight to farm eggs for the rabbit polymorph. VERY different experience. Campers are gone. Without an overload of people in the area the run-around method suddenly becomes a lot more efficient than the camp-a-spot method. The whole atmosphere was way less contentious and, dare I say it... even a little fun?
Bottom line, anyone that gave up in disgust on Sunday should go try again now.
Roland Apr 28th 2009 3:19AM
I got the event done in about 5 hours.
I thought, if the drop rate was like in Love Fool, I better get started early on this one. Sure I could do the event over a couple of days but I could end up on the last day with out the pet or dress.
I thought is was a fun event but the eggs could have been placed over a bigger area so to make it more of a hunt.
There may not be a server first achievement for this one, but to be one of the first on the server to get the "Nobel" title was kind of neat.
Lilliash Apr 28th 2009 3:32AM
There was only one reason for my mage to go there!
BUNNY POLYMORPH!
Got 100 eggs in about 40 mins in Dolannar. Only one camper there in the middle of the afternoon. He bitched and moaned that everyone was whispering him hate mail.
Found the best way to get rid of him was to camp the same spot. He couldn't handle the competition angave up after a few seconds.
Can't believe people arnt enjoying this. Racing others to get to an egg is great fun!
Klint Apr 28th 2009 10:07AM
I agree that this event sucks. When I first tried it I wen't to goldshire.
There were so many people camping to the point where you would barely see a single egg.
If you get close to anyone they tell you to eff off. I think they should have put the eggs in every zone so people are running into each other trying to grab one egg and add more than one chocolate in the friggen thing.
