Breakfast Topic: How's Noblegarden going so far?
The title seems self-explanatory; are you enjoying Noblegarden? How many people are participating on your server? Do you already have the achievements done, or are they a work-in-progress?I have to admit I'm writing this expecting a lot of comments to come back noting that it's pretty hard to get this holiday done when spawn points on the eggs are camped 24/7. For my part, I vastly underestimated how much of a nuisance that was going to be on the live realms. That aside, Noblegarden does seem to be one of the more efficient holidays, particularly if you get lucky with item drops, and I think this is also the first time Blizzard's made it possible to get all the achievement items you need as purchases in the event that Lady Luck spends the week being an indifferent mistress. The ability to buy achievement items certainly settles what was by far the biggest complaint concerning Love Is In the Air. For that holiday, your ability to complete the meta-achievement was ultimately determined by the RNG, to the point where Blizzard hotfixed the drop rate on a key achievement item after the forums went kaboom.
This time around, you don't need to worry about that as long as you can get enough Noblegarden Chocolate. Time to knuckle down, plunk a frosty beverage at your side, and tell that jerk who's camping your spawn to go find his own friggin' eggs. Ahhhh, the holiday spirit!

I completed all the achievements in just 3 hours so yeah, what can I say.
Murdax Apr 27th 2009 8:57AM
well getting the title is not a problem but some of us who are perfectionist and want to get all the achievements for the event it is a great pain when the drop rate for the dam pants, tux and dress are so crappy
Danarok Apr 27th 2009 8:58AM
Total time, 3hrs.
155 eggs gathered taking slightly over an hour.
100 for Chocoholic
50 for Spring Flowers
5 for a Noblegarden Egg
From Azure Watch mostly, max 5/6 competition. Kharanos almost deserted, only 1 other. Dolanaar similar. Goldshore swarming.
Found:
3x Spring Rabbit's Foot
4x Black Tuxedo Pants
3x White Tuxedo Shirt
Amongst other things.
Hardest bit: Finding an orc female. Got lucky on the tauren and dwarf ones. Gnome took me slightly longer than expected too. Trade-offs for a low alliance populated server (Mazrigos-EU).
Most frustrating: Accidentally tried putting ears on people who already had the buff a few times, cue no achievement credit and another 5 min wait.

'Dressed for the Occasion' and 'Sundays' finest achievements are not attainable through purchase, you only get them by pulling the items out of an egg, over 400 eggs so far and no dress yet :(
I fail to see how this has 'fixed' the issues with the random drop rate and achievements?
(Yes, I know these aren't needed for the meta, that doesn't make it any less annoying to me)

Got it done within 2-3 hours of the start. Started at Goldshire but there were about 150 people there. I moved to Azure Watch and there were only about 10 people there. Most of us just ran around and picked up eggs. I had all the drops plus a few extra rabbits and several branches within 200 eggs.

well, for me noblegarden was the easiest one of the world events, after about like 8 hours of playing i got my "the noble" title... and also i got to buy the dress for the achievement.
and i didnt camp any egg.... I was running around getting eggs and getting them from people...
Chirri Apr 27th 2009 9:01AM
Took me about 4.5 hours to complete the meta for this, and some of that time was spent waiting for a female troll to magically appear somewhere in Dalaran (Tauren as well, though one showed up and was kind enough NOT to run for the hills as soon as about 20 people raced over to jam some rabbit ears on her head; she was able to find some humor in the situation, and stuck around for a little while).
I was one of the egg campers, and while I didn't find this way as enjoyable as actually hunting for them, I found that it was really the only way to get this thing accomplished. The fact that they made the spawn points only possible within the newbie towns themselves is the very thing that made the event less enjoyable than I felt it could have been.
As much as some of the points seemed occasionally ingenious, there simply weren't enough of them. It was less of an Egg Hunt, and more of an Egg Lottery. If it had been out in the wild, the eggs could have been much more spread out and actual movement would have been required.
Granted, it WAS day 1, and the event HAD just begun (I logged in 15 minutes after the hour, and it took me a little bit to figure out - they're in the towns this year rather than scattered about the countryside). I anticipate egg camping will be less required as the week passes, as most of these holiday events tend to wind up as the days go by.
I've done the meta on my main in Azure Watch, and found a 4 spawn in Kharanos for my mage who got about 105 eggs just so she could purchase the polymorph spell. I've stopped after that, since I don't want these achievements on any other chars, and the egg lottery's fierce enough for it to be plain old rude to compete for the suckers against others who actually want to get at least 1 meta achievement for their mains.
mythra Apr 27th 2009 9:06AM
i got all the achievements yesterday :D 5 hours tops :P and my bunnie dropt in te first 20 eggs :P i was like yes im lucky today and allmost every thing dropt for me exept for the flouwers
idburns Apr 27th 2009 9:03AM
If you're spawn camping you're doing it wrong. You're taking longer to complete the achievements AND you're taking all the fun out of it.
Don't be a lamer and participate as intended, running with super bunny egg fever speed like a child hopped up on 20 lbs of chocolate.
Pyornthe Apr 27th 2009 9:51AM
That's what I did, and I guarantee I got the eggs I needed much faster than all those people sitting there camping. Plus it was exciting!
Deadly. Off. Topic. Apr 27th 2009 11:36AM
What’s funny is that I tried both ways: Camp and run about, but I kid you not, it was faster camping than it was running about. Why? You try competing with a city full of people running and camping areas and you SEE how many eggs you get. If Blizzard could have had the foresight to leave the eggs EVERYWHERE this could have worked, but it’s rather insulting to put too few areas and then expect people to have a fair chance to loot eggs when people are competing with 200 other people.
KJP Apr 27th 2009 12:23PM
Believe me, I tried to do it that way. After 15 minutes I had eggsactly 2 eggs and twice as many angry tells over my poaching.
Sorry.
Finally I found an uncamped spot and gave in to the local consensus. Boring as all get out but at least it got done.
Mpmagi Apr 27th 2009 12:32PM
The only way to do this in a timely manner is to camp. The hardest bit is getting/finding a spot. For me, it was easy. Find someone in a guild I didn't like, snipe eggs from them until they leave.
Who knew experience in Runescape mining would help?
Pexxle -=SilverHand (RP)=- Apr 27th 2009 9:08AM
The egg camping killed my mood fast. After 20 minutes in RazorHill playing an Alt. i realized that the rabbits in front of the eggs were looting them before i could get anything. It also dawned on me that i do not want to spend hours on end in the same spot for the pet, title, and any other "perk" said holiday brings.
Debrazil Apr 27th 2009 9:11AM
I'm generally very courteous in Warcraft. While levelling a Death Knight and Ret Pally on a PVP server, I never ganked lowbies or engaged someone in combat who wasn't hostile toward me. And I'd never steal an herb or ore node from anyone, regardless of faction.
But the egg campers brought out the worst in me yesterday, and I made stealing their eggs into my own mini-game. If 50 people camp eggs and another 50 show up, is the second group not supposed to take part in the Noblegarden event? That's such a ridiculous notion, and I doubt Blizzard intended for the holiday to work that way.
So if someone was actively running around town picking up eggs and we raced toward the same one, I'd defer to them. But I managed to swipe quite a few out from under the campers and feel like I earned my own extra achievement in the process.
FenSat Apr 27th 2009 9:20AM
No, they could...oh, you know...come back later in the day or week when there are eggs available instead violating camp? You know...wait their turn?
Blame Blizz for designing the event the way they did and don't grief the campers. Because, yeah...you were getting your jollies off causing grief for egg campers. Guess that makes you a griefer, eh? Yup, it sure does! Grats on giving into your darker impulses!
Why do some people have such a HUGE problem with the idea of camping? You people would have simply lost your minds in old EverQuest. lol There, you learned to respect camps or earned a VERY bad reputation. And, for what it's worth, I know I wasn't the only one yesterday making mental notes of who was respectful and who wasn't...

@ FenSat
IMHO referring to EQ camping, is completely different. That was done for items that can be used or worn in game in order to progress. Noblegarden is for show, from the achievements points, to the costumes, pets, title, and even the polymorph rabbit (which is purely visual). As well as EQ being out before WoW(the MMO of course) was even a flicker in the imagination.
/still pissed we don't get user created surnames (No im not some Heavy RPer that wants a Surname addon), yet its ok to see a Gnome, Human, Orc & Blood Elf stand side by side all with the last name Jenkins. (Popcorn Fail)
Debrazil Apr 27th 2009 9:43AM
Why should I have to work around your schedule? And you're crazy if you think those eggs were going uncamped at any time on Sunday.
The campers have no claim on those eggs. They didn't have to spend time or energy clearing the mobs in the area and I don't see why I have to respect their arbitrary claim on that little square of land. It's an easter egg hunt, plain and simple. You run around and pick up eggs. You campers are misinterpreting the spirit of the holiday. I'm taking part in the fun.
SarahTheGnome Apr 27th 2009 10:16AM
I did the same thing. People were camping the eggs, I refuse to do so. I see a lot of people going; I don't camp, BUT blablabla, conclusion, I camped.
Well I didn't, and everyone doing it, didn't make me change my mind. So I raced around, and the campers (who probably were getting a bit drowsy from just standing in the same spot and clicking) were often too late when my bunny raced by, and I got their egg. So I should feel guilty according to you FenSat, when they deliberately ruin the fun for others, well, a bit any way. I don't. I got the most fun out of stealing their spawns and proving that you get more eggs when you actually hunt them. Parking your behind in one spot and waiting for eggs to spawn does not make it your spot, and I am sure as hell not going away until the campers are gone just to make it easier for them.

@FenSat
In my eyes the *campers* are griefing those who are actually trying to play the way the event was designed.
Quit the whining because you wasted your hours camping while other people were able to complete it much quicker by playing the event as intended.
