Tribunalx sent us this great video about something that's fallen out of fashion lately: Hunter soloing. Back in the day, when Mend Pet was still affected by plus healing (back when there was plus healing), Hunters would routinely take down Azuregos by themselves, but they've since had to sit on the sidelines while other classes stepped into the solo arena. But now, with Mend Pet and Bestial Wrath glyphs, a Hunter stacking Stamina in PvP gear, the new version of Deterrence, and pets with their own Tenacity talents, Hunter soloing is possible yet again.
As Tribunalx says in the video, it's not really easy, and there's a lot you have to keep track of (and Hunters definitely aren't the only class that can do this -- there's probably a Paladin soloing UK and/or a Death Knight out there as well). But it is definitely possible, as you can see above. Maybe we're experiencing a renaissance of Hunter solo possibilities -- next up, The Nexus? Good luck with the Ormorok gauntlet.
Yes, 'cause clever abuse of one spell in the at the time top raid instance is comparable to a hunter utilising the numerous abilities available to their class in an intelligent and skilled manner and in an entry level dungeon. I think not.
Ragnorax, as we surely all agree, "comparison" contains elements of contrasting, as it is an assessment of the similarities and dissimilarities between two (some would argue that more than two is possible, but others counter, saying that it is, in fact, multiple comparisons taking place, and not more than two subjects at hand) subject, and likewise we agree that "comparable" means nothing if not "able to be compared", then without a doubt, we must conclude that not only are the two comparable, they were shown to be so by your comment.
That said, I do agree that no "hot fix" would be a reasonable reaction to this sort of thing (not that reasonableness has never stopped that kind of thing before).
voidy got a nerf because it trivialized one of the hardest portions of THE hard fight in the first patch cycle.
hunter soloing has been around forever, and its still done.
for that matter i've soloed the nexus twice, just not the whole thing. did ormorok after getting his elder, his guantlet was easy, banish one add, dps the other(s), and i soloed teletra for the winterveil hat.
This is seriously not a big deal. It's an instance tuned for level 68 players. Who cares if a level 80 can solo it? When my hunter was level 70 I could solo Hellfire Ramparts without much trouble. It would be even easier to do now with tenacity pets and thunderstomp.
On regular mode, UKs trash hits pathetically hard. I went in there at level 70 on my paladin and easily soloed the first two mobs. The only thing stopping me from continuing was how boring it was to dps them down without shield of righteousness.
If hunters get nerfed because of this, then Blizzard has lost their mind.
Oh, was this on regular? I assumed it was heroic... So isn't regular UK easier than level 70 heroics? And isn't it easy to solo at least most of the bosses in level 70 heroics?
Ehm, soloed UK as warrior, not first though cause its imbossible alone. Warriors are very good at soloing with bloodthirsts + glyph build(Warrior healing build) LOL
Of course I don't have a video to prove it, but I did solo Nexus on my prot paladin for a friend that was leveling up...hardest boss probably being the magic biatch, since she was actually able to hit me!
I remember Dysphoria on my realm (Frostmourne US) doing quite a lot of things like this back in BC. Soloing heroics and what not, which at the time was QUITE and achievement, and still is now. He made quite a name for himself.
Hunters are awesome fun to do stuff like this with. When my hunter alt was 26 or 27 I remember soloing the Graveyard wing of the Scarlet Monestary. Most of the mobs were groups of 2, some in groups of 3. I'd have my pet tank one while I trap kited the other 2. When the pets one was dead, he's come take agro off one again etc etc. I did a whole level after a few pulls. 900-1000xp (rested) for mobs my level was pretty nice :D
Keep in mind I was in pretty decent gear for my level with a couple of enchants.
Soloing regular UK, I'm sorry to say (and I have no intention to offend anyone or downplay their pride if they do feel accomplished at such a thing) is easy enough for my Enhancement Shaman, and we have to take the blows ourselves, rather than regularly let a pet tank. Nexus, however, is a different story. Omorok and the split-personality Blood Elf bosses usually cause some trouble. I've also tanked them and regular AN many times, which of course doesn't really count since there's usually a healer involved, along with extra help. With Maelstrom Weapon and Feral Spirit and hex (a weak form of CC, however it IS CC), not to mention the oh-shit-button Bloodlust, it isn't incredibly difficult as long as you burn the mobs down before they can do considerable damage

The voidwalker got a nerf for tanking OS.
So I concur with the Inc hunter nerf.
Just saying.

Yeah, I solo'd UK as a protection warrior :/
Soloing UK is not exactly an impressive feet to show off hunter soloing capabilities.

If you're running through it with a friend, I think you're missing the idea of what soloing is.

Wow, good job Tribunalx! Great seeing a former Deviant getting some attention!! And a fellow hunter at that...

I soloed DTK on my DK just the other night.
Nunho Apr 27th 2009 11:01PM
I soloed H HoS the other day, this is hardly impressive...
Nunho Apr 27th 2009 11:03PM
Sorry, Normal HoS, but then again Army of the Dead makes any regular boss easy :P

Meh. It's still fun watching an enraged booger tear things up. Can YOUR boogers cause such devastation?
I thought not.
