Revamped Argent Tourney mounts, EQ Manager coming
The blues have just announced today that "in an upcoming minor patch" (probably patch 3.1.2 or so), the faction mounts that you can get from the Argent Tournament will "have their visual appearances improved," apparently to better match in color their factions. Mounts already purchased will be automatically replaced; if you want to get the original mounts, you'll be able to buy them for 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold (discounted by faction).
In other "upcoming minor patch" news, the in-game Equipment Manager is coming, as they have been promising. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, it's basically Blizzard's answer to Outfitter et al., and was originally meant to be included in patch 3.1. Some bugs kept it from coming out on time, but apparently we can expect to to soon (or rather, "Soon™") be able to switch gear sets without mods.

The ability to use the original (didn't say first :-D) mounts should help with the mount achievement. 5 more, right?
Wtfispvp Apr 28th 2009 1:41PM
Oh, but you did.
Culhag Apr 28th 2009 2:27PM
Exactly what I was thinking !
Jamesisgreat Apr 28th 2009 2:33PM
Exactly - so they're basically introducing 5 new mounts and making the existing ones really easy/ cheap to get (at least as far as mounts are concerned)?
5 champions seals is just one days worth of dailies and 500g - well that's about 2 days worth (and that's before faction discount).
In other words, I guess I'm getting 5 news mounts when this 'small patch' is released - yay!

Fingers crossed it doesn't changed when they realize they are making it that much easier to get to that 100 mount mark.
Agerath Apr 28th 2009 1:37PM
Interesting...
Bronwyn Apr 28th 2009 1:39PM
Wow.. I don't think I'll be buying any mounts for a while then.. possibly.
serf Apr 28th 2009 1:42PM
I just hope the UD mount is still awesome and white or I will be sad.
BillDoor Apr 28th 2009 1:52PM
Even if its not, you'll still be able to buy the one that is available now.

I loved the white Forsaken horse, but all the others are just... meh. How many times can you re-color a wolf? White, grey, brown, black... did I miss any? Same with the Kodo's and the raptors. I think they are starting to run out of colors for them, and need to just come up with new models alltogether.
I'm glad they are still letting us buy the orignials.
Pat Apr 28th 2009 2:29PM
Don't be sad! The current mounts are going to be a paltry 500 gold and 5 seals! Now I can get the flaming elekk without grinding so much! Yay!

Be careful with waiting too long to purchase the current models of the Tournament mounts, I forsee an attempt by Blizzard to make another Feat of Strength for having an [Argent Old School Ride]. They may eventually take out the current (which by then will be "old") models out completely, screwing all of us collection fanatics.
skreeran Apr 28th 2009 1:48PM
I doubt they'll do that again. They'll probably just replace the models entirely.
Arkkis Apr 28th 2009 1:50PM
They stated that if you buy one now, it will be updated to the new model when they come out. So it really doesn't matter if you buy it now or later.
BillDoor Apr 28th 2009 1:52PM
Current models will be available for purchase for 5 seals and 500g. They're not going away. If you already bought one, it'll be replaced in your spell book with the appropriate 100 seal one.
I'm pretty happy with this. As soon as it goes live I'll be getting my Dragonhawk.
Marolas Apr 28th 2009 1:54PM
I'm sorry, I should have made myself clearer. I meant that once the models are upgraded, you probably shouldn't dilly-dally on purchasing the older versions of the Tournament Mounts:
"Mounts already purchased will be automatically replaced; if you want to get the original mounts, you'll be able to buy them for 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold (discounted by faction)."

I still have absolutely zero interest in the Equipment Manager unless they give it piles more functionality than what it had on the PTR. Outfitter automatically changes my outfit when I switch specs, can change my helm/cloak display settings and titles when I enter a city, or just when I switch outfits, and does a whole pile of other things. The in-game equipment manager absolutely pales in comparison and I highly suspect will be shuned by many if they don't make some major improvements.
PeeWee Apr 28th 2009 2:24PM
This.
The built-in manager found on the PTR is another crappy-ass job from Blizzard, just like they did Omen and SCT/MSBT.
If you're using Outfitter/ItemRack/ClosetGnome now, you'll be doing it after this pile of murloc dung hits the fan too.
tatsumasa Apr 28th 2009 2:33PM
oh-em-gee you are sooo right. you gotta click ONE extra button while outside of combat while your mana is refilling. this is totally bullshitz and how dare blizz try to take a commonly used addon, take the most basic funtions of it, and implement them into their ui. i for one will not stand for it!!!1one!!
/sits down
/end sarcasm
Balius Apr 28th 2009 2:35PM
Adding in game versions may help the add-on creators improve the addons you already use. The in-game threat meters now make Omen take up less processing power and increased its accuracy to 100%.
