Breakfast Topic: For the children!

While some players are polarized over the School of Hard Knocks Achievement, which requires players to venture into the Battlegrounds, I'm not looking forward to a token dungeon run to kill King Ymiron or doing five daily quests for five consecutive days. If you're unable to log in mid-week, you're toast. Ugh. That said, it's an extremely easy meta Achievement to obtain. Are you looking forward to the event? Are you rushing Noblegarden so can't be bothered to chaperone some kids all over Azeroth (like you do every year)? What's the first thing you've got planned for Children's Week?

HOTFIX UPDATE:
DAILY CHORES-
Daily Chores now only requires you to complete 5 daily quests with your orphan out - they don't have to be done 5 days in a row, just have to complete 5 daily quests at any time with your orphan out.

I plan to sacrifice several animals and hope I appease the Daily Chores gods.

Small Update: After the restarts, Home Alone now works properly, and Daily Chores is counting every daily you complete as the EU was/is experiencing.

All but Hail and the dailies quest done.
I play a warlock, and despite it hard Knocks was a cinch.

I'm having a really hard time with the AV part of that achievement :(. Way to much competition.

I'm nearly done with Children's Week.. meaning I have sold all my sets of Bad Example sweets to the lazy achievement hunters.. (I like to call them efficient).
I had a lot of fun setting up this business venture, thank you Children's Week :)

Is WOW down for anyone else? None of their pages are coming up for me and I cannot login via the game.
Lyke May 1st 2009 8:29AM
WoW also went down for me. Very frustrating but I did manage to get all the cupcakes and cakes I've been making up on the AH and completed half of hard knocks before totally losing access to the game and all related sites.

Time Warner (at least in Mid Atlantic area) is having issues with WoW (again).
JP May 1st 2009 8:37AM
Thanks for the confirmation! I am a Time Warner customer so that explains it.

I finished within two hours of Children's Week starting Oceanic. Of course Daily Chores is still messed up, but eh, I'll do it when it WORKS.
I want to adopt my own Draenei orphan, she's too adorable.

I've completed everything except the battleground one and veteran nanny (not gonna get that one for another 2 years :P).
The battleground one is annoying, i love pvp and i love achievements but i hate this one. It forces you to play badly which i can't bring myself to do. I went into EotS this morning for some pvp and a shot at the achieve and 13/15 of our team ran straight to the middle. Nobody attempted to cap towers and of course nobody got their achievement because they didnt have a tower to take the flag back to.
The EotS one in particular is really bad design.. in order to get it you have to assume that people not doing the achieve will do all the work for you in capping bases while you run off to get your flashy box pop up on your screen. And in reality of course everyone is going for the flag and nobody gets towers and it ends up pissing off everybody.

I had to kill an alliance and take the flag when it dropped. Then stand at a tower and wait till it was ours so I could turn it in. -_- But I agree... very poorly designed achievement.

I don't like this event. And I never will unless they repair the bugs with its achievements and remove the PvP one from the meta.

No new pets, orphans, or quests. Looks like the achievement department over at Blizzard has simply taken over.
I'm really disappointed.

These holidays are horrible, not fun, and often buggy and untested. Then you put achievements on top of it that were never properly thought out, as though they randomly came up with this stuff while drunk one night, and you just have another week of misery.
Neirin May 1st 2009 8:37AM
the only painful one is the dailies. If, for any reason someone can't log on on sunday or tuesday they could be as active as they want the rest of the event and still not get their violet proto. As of right now I just need 4 more days of dailies and a venture into UP (I decided passing out mid-run because I was tired was a poor use of time). This event really is a cakewalk.
Also, be sure to do the orphan chain starting in Shat, not SW or Org. The other 2 lead to pets, but not the ones you need for the achievement.
Balius May 1st 2009 10:22AM
You know you can do both, right? You can do the Orgrimmar orphan chain for Speedy, Whiskers, or the pig. You can then head to Shattrath and do the chain to get Willy, Peanut, or the hatchling.
You don't have to pick one.
