Breakfast Topic: For the children!

While some players are polarized over the School of Hard Knocks Achievement, which requires players to venture into the Battlegrounds, I'm not looking forward to a token dungeon run to kill King Ymiron or doing five daily quests for five consecutive days. If you're unable to log in mid-week, you're toast. Ugh. That said, it's an extremely easy meta Achievement to obtain. Are you looking forward to the event? Are you rushing Noblegarden so can't be bothered to chaperone some kids all over Azeroth (like you do every year)? What's the first thing you've got planned for Children's Week?

I want to know why the entire achievement tree hangs on the PvP set.
Four objectives, as opposed to one PvE-based.
I detest PvP. I detest people who enjoy PvP.
To top it off, Blizzard somehow deleted my Peanut pet from last year, so all my hard work on the other holidays was for NOTHING, since I now have to wait two years to complete the Children's Week pet set; by which time they'll probably do something half-assed like remove the Violet Proto-Drake from the game.
Fuck you, Blizzard ... and your game, too.

I noticed my past years' pets missing as well!

Veteran Nanny is not in the meta achievement.

I'm not saying you'll have the same experience with Hard Knocks as I did, but I felt the same way as you going into this event. Even posted on the official forums to protest this achievement, since I'm a relatively casual player who really, really hates PVP. Buuut, I completed this achievement this morning, surprisingly easily. I had to run AV 3 times, but the others were all first runs.
I'm guessing you're a paladin like me, so I have one huge tip for you: Crusader Aura + Aura Mastery. Stay out of the pack who's charging all at once (at least in AV and AB) and go your own way. You'll deprive the others of your aura, plus get the additional speed boost from Aura Mastery. You can make it to any objective before anyone else. It's definitely not teamwork by any standards, but the BGs are cutthroat already and it's only going to get worse.
Good luck!

I still don't have Peanut (weep)

Funny that, I detest bigoted morons.

Before you continue inviting Blizzard to have carnal relations with you, you are aware that you don't need the 3 children's week pet achivement for the meta to count towards the drake, right? You just need one of them.

Wahhhh, I don't get to pick and choose what other people are allowed to do so I'll whine like a BIIIIIITCH! Moooommy, THOSE kids are PvPing without me, why do they get a fancy mount? I'll just stomp my feet and quit.
please do.

you don't gotta get the pets for the protodrake... read much?
Kibibi May 1st 2009 8:39AM
I'm not looking forward to the PvP achievements myself... :(
/that pic is just a little disturbing...

Spanking does not equal child molestation. Stop being so hysterical.
Even if it did, giving Chris Hansen the chance to cash another paycheck isn't really going to help.

As a achievement-addict-casual-player with bunch of lowlever chars who are in no hurry to 80, i dislike this event for the fact that this is yet another one where most of the fun is made available only for the #*(ยค!%& endgamers.
I redo the pet quests for the ones i dont have.
Andi May 1st 2009 11:43AM
I'm kind of torn on this. As an achievement addict with a bunch of characters, many who are between 70-80, I 100% agree with you, in that a the majority of the game work goes into end-game. If you don't want end game, it's sometimes hard to get everything done.
But I like that the meta World Event achievements require you to experience parts of the game you don't usually do if you're strictly a one trick pony--pvp, end game, leveling, whatever. It's a World Event and this one truly encompasses the World.
That being said, I hate School of Hard Knocks, not because it requires pvp (as stated above), but because it requires you to go against the whole teamwork thing. I think a much more appropriate achievement would be where you have to win one with your orphan out. That way, at least, people of the same faction aren't competing against each other, instead they're working together.

I think everything that could have been said so far has been. One of the worst ideas would be the Battleground. Yes you could make premades which is what I will be doing but it should not be the only way to get it done. The achievements and holidays should be fun events and should not give you headaches attempting to things such as the battleground achievement. It was a great idea to incorporate pvp into this holiday but it was a mistake with the requirements for the actual achievement. On a side note the Daily Chores achievement is not very forgiving to those that do not log on every single day of the week. A bit of a disappointment I'm sure for them.
Josin May 1st 2009 8:41AM
That picture is freaking priceless.
Kyoki May 1st 2009 8:44AM
Ive done it already, the daily quest one was easy i just did 5quests ;) dunno if that is a bug but it worked and i am now Matron.
ziggler May 1st 2009 8:49AM
in my realm the daily quest's quest is bugged, u can do all in one day :)

This event was what killed the Violet Proto for me. Sure, I still would have had to wait until after next Winter's Veil because of my lack of being able to progress my cooking last time (goblin rep bad), but after finally managing to get to the flag in EOTS, I was at 9.9/10.0 seconds in picking it up and some scum-sucker uses a pushback move and knocks me off of the map.
Hating PvP as much as I do in the first place, this was the end for me. I've gone through so much real content, to see something so unobtainable like this was just ridiculous.
Whatever. No Violet for me. I just laid back and accepted it now.
Exco May 1st 2009 8:58AM
re: the pvp achieve
1) its not that hard, you just have to put in a little *gasp* effort
2) there are things you have to do to get the drake that are harder and more of a pita than run a few BGs
god forbid people actually have to work to get them, i'm a squishy lock and im halfway done with hard knocks in less than 2 hours.
seriously, i hate this statement, but really applies here

@Exco
Just because its easy for you dosent mean it is for everybody. Lots of people dont like pvp and Blizzard needs to realize that.
