Mirror Images given improved AI in Patch 3.1.2

- Mirror Images: The images summoned by this spell will now target the creature that most hates the Mage, and should no longer cast Fire Blast or Frostbolt on targets that are affected by crowd control debuffs that break immediately on damage unless they are already casting these spells when crowd control is applied.
The Mirror Images not breaking Crowd Control is a huge plus, too. It was becoming an ability that you can't push during sensitive moments, and considering the nature of the spell, that's kind of silly! Those are the exact moments you would want to use this ability. I'm glad to see these changes.

I'm going to miss those spunky little guys pulling a new mob or two right before their duration runs out as I'm trying to drink.
Or will they still do that?
Manic Soul May 1st 2009 9:11AM
" I knew their pain well back when the Shadowfiend was still as dumb as a box of rocks."
hahaha

'Was'?
Yes it's better. (the instant attack is complete win).
But the stupid @*#&^ will still run through every void zone.
It's like he does it on purpose, just to spite me!

That is why the Glyph of Shadowfiend is great..the retard dies, you get paid...like "Stupid Insurance"

By all means continue to play the game for us. Skills that aren't usable everytime, that require some additional attention are a plus to the game. A skill that was cool now is a simple dmg buff.
jam May 1st 2009 9:24AM
Are you serious?
That was the most stupid comment I've read here in a while and that's saying a lot.
doug May 1st 2009 9:25AM
People will qq about any fucking thing.
Yzi May 1st 2009 9:42AM
QQing about the decreased difficulty of the game. Mages have some very cool skills on their reportoire, skills that perhaps needed a keener eye to use for maximum effect. This change just makes it better for dmg at the cost of player choices and skill. This is not good IMO.

You must be a Official WoW forum poster...
That site is the MOST horrible place in terms of anything productive regarding WoW.
Topics like, "Who or What is your favorite CM, Pet, City", rants about Class adjustments, Talents etc. bubble over with replies and views.
Post anything such as a diplomatic idea to fix or implements something. You might get 10 responses. 5 of which are random internet humor/ sarcasm oblivious to said topic, and 50 views....
www.worldofwarcraft.com forum= unending pages of FAIL...
Go back, and do not retrun Yzy.

But...all this fix does is make sure that a skill that already exists isn't completely broken. You can't control your mirror images, and having them do worthless things absent of your control doesn't reflect on skill or difficulty. If they're not as stupid, then using the spell makes more sense and can be used to better effect.
I'm not sure how one of your skills breaking CC and attacking random targets takes more skill than the same skill attacking things you are, yourself, focusing on.

I've had my MI's peel off and go attack the back two Horsemen in Naxx, when I was busy fighting the Baron. No reason, they hadn't done anything to me, freshly summoned...they peel off. It's insance, and stupid.
Personally I would prefer they would attack whoever my target is when they cast their next spell, but this is a viable fix, as in most cases, the person who hates me most is the one I'm going to be attacking anyhow, or at least the one I want dead.

@Balius
Surely you realise that anything that makes the game less frustrating must, by definition, be a nerf designed to appeal to the casuals?
Real WoW players *like* to have skills that are hampered by dumb-as-rocks AI because it then requires *skill* to use. It must require skill, because it's annoying.
peagle May 1st 2009 9:24AM
Nice update, hopefully this means they won't peel off and attack some ignorable boss adds when used in raid environments.
Willow May 1st 2009 9:45AM
For example, the brief time that Razorscale is down, my mirror images will run off and dps the adds that are being off-tanked. I'm glad this ability can actually be considered one of my cooldowns now instead of just a random mage toy.

don't know if i'd call this a new improvement. seems like a bug fix to me.
but what i DID find cool is that i no longer have to discard my mana sapphire to make another one. it simply puts however many charges in the current one to 3. REJOICE!
argo747 May 1st 2009 10:15AM
You're kidding right? Mana Gem recharge has been around for quite a while now.
WoWie Zowie May 1st 2009 10:19AM
o rly?
lol i had always thrown it away. it was actually only by accident i discovered the recharge.
REJOICE!
vazhkatsi May 1st 2009 9:48AM

You mean Warlocks, right?
