Mirror Images given improved AI in Patch 3.1.2

- Mirror Images: The images summoned by this spell will now target the creature that most hates the Mage, and should no longer cast Fire Blast or Frostbolt on targets that are affected by crowd control debuffs that break immediately on damage unless they are already casting these spells when crowd control is applied.
The Mirror Images not breaking Crowd Control is a huge plus, too. It was becoming an ability that you can't push during sensitive moments, and considering the nature of the spell, that's kind of silly! Those are the exact moments you would want to use this ability. I'm glad to see these changes.

haha, that'd be great. Maybe they can make a glyph for this. =P
And Yzy, what the hell is wrong with you? They fix something so its working as intended and you bitch about it? It wasn't "difficult" by design, it was only difficult because the mirror images weren't very bright, which obviously isn't the way they were supposed to be. Some people will cry about anything...

I am going out on a limb and assuming Yzy doesn't play a mage or have one at Mirror Image Lvl. Just felt like adding his 2 Rupees...

I've basically stopped using mirror images non single target boss. They just love running off and causing troubles and for the small DPS increase they add, it hardly seems worth using them.

There is only one thing I would ask of blizz regarding the Mirror Images.
Please, Please, Please blizz, remove the death sound (keep animation).
Having the mage cast mirror image and having them 'die' makes me, the healer, twitch, because it sounds like 1/2 the raid has just died....
It is a small thing... but the healers will thank you, really we will. ;-)

Agreed Candia. Maybe some kind of de-rezzing kind of effect.

I always thought that they should pop their own "invisibility" and disappear instead of dying... or... running towards the mage that casted them and then disappearing.
Dying at the end of their spawn time just seems random and unecessary.

I've lost arena matches because my clones would run across the map to attack the priest in a full sheep.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THESE CHANGES

My guild was doing Naxx a couple of weeks ago and we managed to wipe on a boss.
Since some people are terribly slow at corpse running, we usually start messing about while we wait.
Personally, I drank a noggenfogger elixir, and then cast mirror image so there were 4 skeletons.
The mirror images ran into the boss' chambers (even though it was over 50 yards away) and started attacking the boss.
Since that day I remove mirror image from my action bars the moment I step into any instance.

My favorite is when the mage summons them when we're fighting Feugen and Stalagg. Invariably, the many-mages will run down the ramp and across the room to the other platform. After the brief moment of "where the fuck is Piggy going?" panic, it's completely hilarious.
Allin May 1st 2009 9:08PM
Hahaha, next time i go naxx, ill summon them during feugen and stalagg. :P
I am indeed one of the players that uses it 50-60% of the time during boss fights, because they will run around like when im drunk.
And another thing, like Candia said, remove the freaking dying sound.
A good friend of mine who is a Shaman (my 2vs2 partner, resto pvp) hates my mirror image HUUUARHHGHGHG dying sound. He's used to his enhancement dogs just fading, while my mirror images dies cause of a terminal disease or something.

Mirror image is still just a pve aggro dump, any other player with half a brain can see which one is you. If they all cast the same thing as me, even if it just looked like it, would be much more useful all round. Invisiblility and Ice Block are much better aggro dumps, so mirror image is such a waste imo. I had someone argue with me that they were 'great' in pvp.. um you see the three standing in formation casting icebolts and the one arcane mage? and the glyph to get an extra one? what a waste - and I bet they made it a major one too.
