Phat Loot Phriday: Ironsoul

Name: Ironsoul (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)
Type: Two-hand Epic Mace
Damage/Speed: 594 - 892 / 3.50 (212.3 DPS)
Attributes:
- +105 Strength, +126 Stamina
- Improves crit strike rating by 69 and armor penetration rating by 84.
- Obviously a melee mace -- anyone who likes to hit things with a big piece of metal will enjoy using this (Paladins, Warriors, Death Knights, and even Shamans, though you all are probably dual wielding). And yes, it is a mace -- while it looks more like an axe than anything else, the experts in the Wowhead comments say this is a flanged mace, designed to penetrate armor rather than provide bashing damage. It's sharp, it's scary, and it's big. What more do you want?
Getting Rid of It: If you're really sold on swinging around a two-hander, you might not for about halfway through Ulduar. But if you do decide to ditch it, it'll sell for 26g 82s 97c, and will disenchant into an Abyss Crystal.

Should've posted the Martin Fury as a spoof opener, with stats, how to get it (acount hacked, mail from GM), getting rid of it (GM will take it after banning your account) etc. Would've been great!

Hey, don't leave Druids out of that mix. +2200 Feral AP is nothing to sneeze at.
soatari May 2nd 2009 12:24AM
He keeps doing that when he posts these articles. Keeps forgetting about druids.
Amirite May 1st 2009 7:21PM
Feral druids, also.

Nice mace. Although it is just my luck to be part of a guild full of fury warriors...

After being outrolled on every single melee weapon drop throughout Naxx, I was one happy camper when this bad boy dropped on our first Ulduar run and I finally rolled a number in the double digits.

Flanged mace? I think I know an axe when I see one, regardless of what weapon type blizz classed it as.
darren May 1st 2009 8:30PM
You can see that it has 2 "axe" blades on it. It is indeed a flanged mace, even if it's missing some of that critical end weight that you would expect from a typical flanged mace.
Kakistocracy May 2nd 2009 1:42AM
It's also missing some of that critical middle stuff that keeps the end from flying off.

I wish you guys would put the Feral Attack Power stats on the weapons =( this weapon would be great for kitty if you didnt have the staff from 25 man KT

This is an arms warrior dream as well as other other people can use it. Yay for improved mace spec.

Fury warrior here, had it dropped for me on my first run through Ulduar the day the patch came out =D.
Almost makes up for the 10% reduction in our damage. =(

For main specs:
Death knight (all specs), arms warrior, fury warrior, ret paladin, feral druid, and possibly a noob enhancement shaman. So actually this weapon could be used for every melee class in the game except a rogue.
Doesn't look like it will need to be saved from a DE.

I had a former guildy who was obssessed with getting the axe drop from Kel'thuzad to the point where he would opt out of guild raids if he wasn't going to be on when we downed him. When I showed him this mace he chucked a fit and said 'I spend all this time grinding KT for the axe and THIS comes out in the new instance, on the FIRST BOSS? FFS!'
But yeah, that's a sweet mace. I'll be rolling on that for my ret offspec once all the other rets, warriors and dks have it for their main.

Next week you should feature the epic baby rattle Legacy of thunder!
Ridicule it shamelessly!

I was going to say - Feral Druids too if they don't have Journey's End, but I see a few others have done so already. Also, the ArP on this is just one more slot where you can stack it (I'll be getting Lotr'afen this week hopefully for yet more ArP), allowing a Feral to get closer to that golden 400 number so they can resocket Agility to Armour Penetration and use the Shred idol again.
Also, for those saying this looks like an axe, it dropped for us on Wednesday and I believe the sections that look like axe blades are actually repeated 4 times around the shaft instead of twice; the screeny isn't that clear.

Mikey here must still be bitter about ferals rolling on his maces. =P

You didn't specify if it comes from normal or heroic Ulduar...
