The Queue: Zordon, no!
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.A lot of people were confused about the picture I used in The Queue a couple of days ago. You know, the one with the German writing on it. That edition of The Queue was titled Mercenaries, and the person depicted in that picture was Götz von Berlichingen, a German mercenary from the early 1500s. He literally had an Iron Fist. As in, his hand was crafted out of iron. Go read up on him, he rules.
idkanything asked...
"A question on guild leadership. Our guild leader has decided to stop playing WoW but he didn't transfer the guild to someone else before he left. (It's a long, not very exciting story.) We don't want to just disband and reform under a different name because of the gold in the gbank. Does anyone know the procedure for getting the guild transferred to another person? Is there a certain amount of time that has to pass?"
I don't know what the amount of time is, but a few guilds I've known over the years have gone through this. Their guild leader quit, and the rank and file of the guild didn't want to give up what they've built. They had to wait quite awhile, but eventually GMs turned the guild over to one of them. Again, I don't know what the time frame required for this is, or if there were possibly other circumstances involved.
My advice is to just file a GM ticket and ask, or possibly go to the forums if you're having a bout of bravery. A Blizzard employee will be able to answer that much better than I can. I can say that it's been done, but I don't know how or why or any of the important details at all, really.

"Any news on a Children's Week guide? I get lost when I don't have WI holding my hand through these holidays."
Kachow.
Jormungandr asked...
"What's the deal with all of the ogres being way tiny? Was there a sizing glitch in 3.1 (or is it just me)? The ogres I've noticed in Arathi and STV are all way smaller that they should be."
Ogres don't have a set size/scale. You don't notice it as much when you're leveling up, but if you go back to old content it's fairly jarring. As you level up, the developers throw bigger mobs at you. It gives the illusion of you fighting tougher things, and getting into more epic battles. They also do this as a visual aid in raids or on group quests, they scale up the size of a mob so you can see it in a crowd.
As far as I can tell, they didn't downsize the ogres in STV or Arathi (though I'm not denying the possibility, I might just not notice it). I think you're just used to seeing the massive ogres from Outland and they make the old world ogres look like puny wimps.
jbodar asked...
"Do you writers have some secret contest for the weirdest, most obscure article intros?"
Contest? Hardly. It's a collaborative effort. We're a team.
(Psst, Adam. I've got dibs on Tommy, the greatest power ranger in the world. You're Jason. Have fun in Switzerland, bud.)

Tommy was the Wesley Crusher of Power Rangers.
CactusHam May 1st 2009 6:15PM
You know what, FUCK Tommy. There, I said it. Who does he think he is anyway? Jason is leading the team just fine, and then all of a sudden after the Green Ranger becomes a good guy all of a sudden HE'S THE BOSS? Whats the deal with that. Pisses me off. Jason FTW.

My childhood is ruined :/

I prefer to think that it's his cup, as in athletic supporter. Crisis averted. Also, why are you staring at his crotch?
Joshua Meadows May 1st 2009 8:24PM
Dude you can't help but stare at it, it's like David Bowie in the Labyrinth.

If you mean Tommy was the Wesley Crusher of Power Rangers in the sense that I also wanted to marry him when I was 12, then yes, he was.
Signed,
A fangirl who was also married to Lucas from SeaQuest DSV

Getting the Guild Leader rank from an inactive leader takes 30-60 days from the time they last signed on (alts included I think).
First contact them immediately, then wait however long they tell you to and open a new ticket, then we nothing happens, make a big stink with all officers submitting tickets and make sure you state that is is affecting your ability to enjoy the game and play it as intended and it is compromised guild stability. Etc.
It took us about 60 days.

My guild actually got a response rather quickly after the 30 day mark. Just hope they don't decide to log in randomly on the last day of their subscription or anything...then you get to wait ANOTHER 30 days.

Wasnt the green/white ranger arrested and tried for murder recently?
Alex Ziebart May 1st 2009 5:24PM
Nope.
Hoggersbud May 1st 2009 5:32PM
You're probably thinking of Skylar Deleon.
He was in like one episode in a bit part.
I have no idea if he was a ranger, but he wasn't playing Tommy.
That was Jason David Frank.
Kirstie May 1st 2009 8:17PM
He wasn't playing a ranger, he was a kid in the episode that two of the male rangers were teaching, but he was unruly. Ohnoes!
CactusHam May 1st 2009 6:16PM
Hoggsersbud is right, it was Skylar Deleon. He's like, an 8 year old kid who fails at soccer in one episode, and the Power Rangers teach him how to play.

The inactive guild leader has to be inactive (i.e., not log on) for thirty days before the GMs will transfer guild leadership to another officer. At least that's what it took for me to be able to transfer leadership from our old GM to me.
Xaro May 1st 2009 6:33PM
I put a GM ticket to get control of an old buddy guild. It took about 2-3 weeks of waiting, but I got it back. The GM hadn't been online in a year.
