I agree with Zach, BG's are a mess, however heres some tips I hope can help someone.

Warsong gulch.
yes it requires the teams to stand in a base, but did you ever think of standing in each others bases? Simply have all the horde in alliance base and vice versa, so when one person caps the flag and tries to run back to their own, whallah!

For Alterac Valley,
Yes I believe what you said, (my battlegroup also fails at AV miserably!) First of all for any confusion, you have to cap an enemy tower not one of your own. So as mentioned in the article you need dedicated players to simply recap the towers the enemy caps (so they can get their achievement too, they do communicate in game!). As for the actual AV'ing, not every AV is full of childrens week players. Just get those regular players to push hard up to Van (if ur horde), by the time they actually do that, the "10%" of the AV should have gotten their achievement and you pretty much guarantee a win.
(seriously, prior to this, my server group never won AV unless it was a premade... now we're winning several in a row!)

Eye of the Storm (is a nightmare)
I'm with you on this, I hated getting my Eots achievement. I tried everything to get it.
1. Rush the flag and one Tower (attempted for 5 games) it really just came down to if your team was competent enough to hold a single tower and the flag spawn.
2. Pick the flag off the opposing team (Note: if they're running the above strat correctly, it's pretty much impossible)
3. Have control of flag and one+ towers: even if you aren't the flag carrier, cover him. You actually have a chance of alliance killing that guy and you yourself picking up that flag (otherwise you're just wasting time at the flag spawn) (this is how i finally got mine).

Arathi Basin: Thankfully is still arathi basin.

All in all, I dont think blizzard screwed up, it's simply an achievement that will take time (We're all just freaking out in the 3rd day of it! just calm down!). If you put the time and effort into this achievement you will get it. Besides: isn't that what we're going for? A drake that shows our dedication and hard work? Heck the damn achievement is called "What a Long Strange Trip It's Been". It's not supposed to be easy! I really hope blizzard doesnt nerf it for all the QQ'ers out there.
