Yeah, Blizzard probably doesn't feel at all badly towards you specifically Karatechop, even if those chat logs are damning (sounds like they're pretty bad and sort of contrary to what you claim about innocence). But they need to ensure that the precedent is clear for "cheating," as you put it. Someone messes with the way the game is intended to work, even if they do so through the fault of the GM, they get perma-banned so that no one else will think that Blizzard's not going to punish people who are tempted to do the same through some in-game error.
Makes complete sense, and I don't blame either you for your strange reaction to obtaining Martin Fury, or Blizzard for trying to preserve their game (the integrity of which is > one account).
I find it sad that you didn't kill Algalon. Such a waste.
