There is a lot of depth to be found in the etymology of the word as well.
'Enchant' means literally 'to chant over' and is closely linked to chants and songs. European Druids and other magical traditions would enchant things (according to legend) by singing over them for hours or days.
So as an RPer the enchanter can become a kind of Bard, knowing many songs and sagas that confer magical effects, or just entertain over the camp fire.
