MMO Champion reveals shiny Algalon dagger
"Oh my god, it's full of stars!"
No, it's not 2001: A Space Odyssey (one of the best books and movies of, like, all time), it was our very own Elizabeth Harper when she saw this shiny new dagger, revealed thanks to MMO Champion. Now Algalon still hasn't been defeated, but doesn't this awesome, star-filled blade make you want to pwn his arse? Go on, admit it, even if it's purely on an RP-level.
Personally, as a boomer, I use staves exclusively but I want this weapon so badly. It has to be one of the nicest looking drops I've seen in a while - and the stats aren't too bad either. It manages to encapsulate everything about the Algalon encounter and the shiny graphics in one neat package.
In my experience, most loot has an awesome name or looks snazzy, but seldom lives up to its reputation. However, given the nice load of gear which has been tumbling out of Ulduar's 10 and 25 man encounters, it's nice to see some pieces which aren't just nice on a purely shiny level. These are drops like Voldrethar, Dark Blade of Oblivion, Wisdom's Hold, Shoulderpads of Dormant Energies and the Dark Edge of Depravity.

And a caster dagger at that. Sad rogue is sad.
Rai May 3rd 2009 10:55PM
Make that a barrel of sad rogues.
Avrus May 4th 2009 11:37AM
Hey look, Blizzard screwed rogues on itemization again.
Sigh.
Hoggersbud May 3rd 2009 6:21PM
It doesn't hold a candle to Martin Thunder.
Palatel May 3rd 2009 7:41PM
Fury, not Thunder.

Thunder, not fury.

Istanbul, not Constatinople.

I wonder why it has 10 extra fire resist?
Faulken May 5th 2009 8:52PM
Because you'll need it in hell when Blizz sends you there for using it?
kabshiel May 3rd 2009 6:21PM
I kind of wish it didn't have the bubble outline and was just the stars.
Kakistocracy May 3rd 2009 8:16PM
Yeah, but then you wouldn't know where the edge is, which can lead to some tricky situations wherein a fair amount of blood is lost.

"Why don't they ever get a sexy babe posing with these tihngs?"
1) A very large percentage of WoW players just so happen to be female.
2) I think you might have unresolved sexuality issues.
Nintendwarf May 3rd 2009 6:42PM
Dang I need to get more gear just to do 10 man Ulduar :D. Right now I have been doing 25 man Naxx, 25 man OS, and 10 man Maly.
Keyra May 3rd 2009 6:49PM
MASSIVE SHINY SHA-WING!!! ;-)
AishaLove May 3rd 2009 6:51PM
well as for comment about the item itself. I think it looks cheesy and a bit lame with all the stars, maybe if is were a texture of like a tons of stars giving it that "glittering effect" it would look better, I think it would look better if the stars were gone and the opacity were up say 10%

@ wordsofivory
so what if a large percentage of wow population is female, i dont think they will be offendd by a scantily clad virtual female specimen of an imaginary specie (race) posing with a weapon, in fact i think all of us should learn to openly view and accept the beauty of a woman's body rather than try to hide it, but that guy above you named 'Dude' does have some issues
MusedMoose May 3rd 2009 7:26PM
First: this is the only item I've seen posted here that has actually made me say "....wow..." upon seeing it. I seriously want one of these things. It's enough to make my arcane mage give up staves.
Second: @ AishaLove - I have a feeling this weapon will look a lot more impressive in-game than it does in this picture. Something like this probably has some kind of effect going with it - perhaps the stars move. However, as a big fan of Outlaw Star, I approve of your name. *grin*
Third: my second thought (after "....wow...") upon seeing this was "This is not the dagger. The dagger is my penis."
AishaLove May 3rd 2009 9:10PM
I suppose it does, I wonder why no in game renders have been shown? I realize this boss has yet to be downed but many private servers are already up to date with 3.1 and it's as simple as giving yourself the item to show in game renders of it. Their are also programs for viewing models these are often used for machinema movies and for sites like alakazam that show interactive animated models of items and npcs.

2001: A Space Odyssey is the best space flick in the history of movies.
The Star Wars original trilogy doesn't count because they're a documentary series.
AishaLove May 3rd 2009 9:13PM
2001 a space odyssey was the single most boring movie of all time, god you couldn't even understand the damn movie, what the hell is going on? I don't know, I tried to watch it but classical music and bone ships floating around.... with about no real plot? *snore*
