Sunday Morning Funnies: They did it with a shirt
This week's set of comics is actually quite topical, from a recent scandal, to world news to proper feline nutrition. There also aren't as many Noblegarden-themed comics as I expected.
- Cru the Dwarf is making fire. Nifty things are afoot!
- Experience Points examines the latest content patch.
- Flintlocke vs the Horde: War Party part 11.
- GU Comics: It Figures. This is related to a recent story that we covered involving hacked accounts, a GM item, and some very naughty players. Read all about the Martin Fury Scandal, and then tell us what you thought in our polls.
- GU Comics also hosted a guest strip by Stormhaven, called Inconsistent Know-How. Don't forget to read the explanation underneath! Before I did, I thought it was about the fact that Mustard Dogs seems to never come up. I have stacks and stacks of the Rhino Dogs, but no dice.
- GU Comics also posted a comic about last week's Noblegarden festivities, Rabbits Everywhere.
- This is the second-latest LFG comic, but I thought that it stood better on its own than #248.
- NoObz: Useless.
- NPC: For the Taurine! I love this one. If you don't know what Taurine is, you don't love your cats enough. Yep, I said it.
- Check out the latest from Teh Gladiators.
- The Adventures of Disgraph T. Dwarf has updated, and I have to agree, I Love the Smell of Bacon in the Morning.
- Here is another from It's a 2v2 Life.
- Here's a newbie: KUO, with Eyebeam Irony. I couldn't decide which one to list, so check out a few of them, and I'll go with the latest next week.

I might be bringing up something that has already been discussed (and possibly beaten into the ground), but is LFG still considered a WoW comic? It seemed to have launched into its own universe fairly early on.

Wow. Just...Wow. Completely classless on GU's part. Massive fail, seriously. That doesn't even deserve the attention.

from Wiki! "Taurine and Cats
Taurine is an essential dietary requirement for feline health, as cats cannot synthesize the compound. The absence of taurine causes a cat's retina to slowly degenerate, causing eye problems and (eventually) irreversible blindness — a condition known as central retinal degeneration (CRD),[50][51] as well as hair loss and tooth decay. It was discovered in 1987 that taurine deficiency can also cause feline dilated cardiomyopathy.[52] Unlike CRD, the condition is reversible with supplementation. Taurine is now a requirement of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and any dry or wet food product labeled approved by the AAFCO should have a minimum of 0.1% taurine in dry food and 0.2% in wet food."
I didn't know! I didn't know! ; ;

Call me stupid, but I don't even get the whole 'Oh, he's a gnome' thing with GU comics. =/
Other than that, some good comics this week. :3

EM! you know thats a guest strip and in woodys defence he plays horde never really talks about gnomes in his comic.
So it wasnt a massive fail it was a nice thing woody did as usal letting a freind or fan submit a comic then putting it on the site.
P.s get your facts right before youstart trollen
Meira May 3rd 2009 1:45PM
Sorry, but I think YOU should get the facts straight. I think people (including me) find the gnome joke (NOT the one on the guest strip, that was really funny, I think we all are referring the one Woody MADE on friday) incredibly untasteful. Just because Karatechop is a gnome, the author came up with a cheap joke making fun of gnome characters players (and you guessed, my main is a gnome mage). I love GU comics, but that particular strip is shameful of his part.

@Meira
Um...a little to into your roleplay!
Woody [GU] May 3rd 2009 2:22PM
Sorry if the Gnome strips upset some folks, it actually centers around a begrudging love extending back from EQ days. One of the folks I played with constantly was Pogart the Gnome (you can see him quite a bit in the strip). Naturally when you're grouped with a Gnome you make Gnome jokes. So it's actually my never ending nod to Pogs. **shrugs** Beyond that... it's just a joke.
When it comes to guest strips, I try to post as many as I can. Usually they give me a website or a link that I can mention in the writeup and I can drive traffic to their site. It's exactly that kind of attention that made GU moderately popular. I'm jus trying to balance my internet karma by returning the favor. I'll never apologize for promoting folks in the gaming community.

After more technical difficulties I'm back in the comic game. Monday's comic promises to be a dazzling display of bloom effects and larger speech text!
Cadychan May 3rd 2009 2:38PM
Ooh! Can't wait! :D
Discipline May 3rd 2009 2:27PM
................. are you kidding me gnoems are at the butt of jokes in all RPGS and if you read any of woodys stuff related to everquests youll see similar things.
and shameful are you actully serious he was just poking fun and if you read the basis of the comic at the bottom and go to his forum link to add comments
"In recent, interesting, community news a guild on the Vek'nilash server waltzed through some of the hardest content in WoW by using GM item (Martin Fury) that allows you to "Kill all enemies in a 30 yard radius". Apparently a member of the guild had their account hacked. Because the member was an officer, the hacker cleaned out the Guild Bank. Several of his characters were also deleted/transferred. After Blizzard rescued his account and restored his lost characters, he found that one of his low level alts was wearing the the GM item. The Guild then went on to use the item to do thing the guild typically could not.
Source: WoWInsider [ more info ]
Now, Karatechop is not the character who had Martin Fury; it was just easier to say it that way in the comic. Karatechop was the Guild Leader. I say was because his account was banned. And I imagine most of the guild will eventually be given the same treatment (at least the ones who attended raids where the GM item was employed).
Reading the intial article, the resultant WoWInsider analysis of the situation, Karatechop's ban letter, and the subsequent interview WoWInsider conducted with him, I just couldn't wrap my brain around why, after realizing a guild member had Martin Fury, they didn't open a ticket and report the issue. Surely they knew that if they used it, they'd eventually be found out and the consequences would be dire.
Then saw Karatechop's WoWArmory profile, realized he was a Gnome, and was no longer surprised." - Woody
god sake get a grip its a comic Meria.
Meira May 3rd 2009 3:57PM
I know, I know, I have nothing against Woody, in fact GU Comic it's one of my favorite webcomics, I always get a good chuckle out of it. And I know gnomes are a typical comic relief in every RPG out there, heck if it wasn't the case I wouldn't roll a gnome ;)
It's just that particular comic got into my nerves, nothing else :P
Discipline May 3rd 2009 6:15PM
o0 right so your attitude changes when woody shows up hmm ! aye whatever ... any way let blood letting stop and back to wowinsider !!!!!!!!!!!!
Discipline May 3rd 2009 2:32PM
ah! well beat me to it woody i was in a bit of a rage...... since im a fanatic with GU!
gnomeofdoom spelling retarded xD
Woody [GU] May 3rd 2009 2:50PM
**cringes**
Just like it's a comic. It's just their opinion and they're entitled to it without bashing. I've been doing this for nearly 9 years with far worse criticism. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but let's all play nice yeah?
AyaJulia May 3rd 2009 2:58PM
While all of you children are crying over a racist joke against a race that doesn't even exist....
Ahem, Amanda, the link to Cru's comic is to last week's. :) You have to hit Next from there to go to this week's.
Cas May 3rd 2009 7:25PM
You guys forgot Dark Legacy, best wow comic imo.
Aubrecia May 4th 2009 12:36AM
Ugh, I have no idea how anyone can read Experience Points. What an utterly bland, uninspired comic. Completely, incredibly terrible.
