We won't see many more class changes in Wrath of the Lich King, says Ghostcrawler
So here's some news that'll probably make you feel good if you're okay with your class and just want to grab consistent set of talent specs and go at it, but may get you a little down if you still dislike where your class is. Ghostcrawler said yesterday that he believes there won't be many drastic class changes. In fact, he says, most of the 3.1 class changes were meant to compensate for or tinker with the changes made in 3.0 or to further tweak the classes that got the largest amount of overhaul.
On the plus side, these means that hopefully the current 3.1 talent builds are more or less set, so you don't have to worry too much about respecing based on major changes to class. On the other hand, if you don't like where your class or favorite talent tree is right now, you may be in trouble.
That said, Ghostcrawler hasn't ruled out further changes, and has all but said that there will probably be numbers adjustments. So what we can probably take from this is, at the least, that the basic mechanics and rotations for every class and talent spec are more or less set, at least until someone theorycrafts something different. This also hopefully means that they can focus on adding more content for us to use all our class mechanics on in future patches.
But for now, I hope you like what you have, because it may be all you're getting.

Does that mean Fury Warriors are going to be shafted indefinitely? ='(

First thing I thought of when I read this.

Probably because you play a Fury Warrior.
Bikhai May 4th 2009 2:25AM
Right on the money with this comment. I asked the other day in guild why I never saw any fury/prot warriors on our server anymore. I was told it was because they all rerolled DKs. I'll stick with my warrior just because I'm stubborn, but boy am I frustrated with being outdone at everything I do by one class. I guess maybe I'll get used to it eventually. And maybe these "number adjustments" mentioned in the article will save the day some time in the future.

Wow, so the insane amount of fury warriors on the top of DPS charts for most high-end guilds must be an illusion then?
QQ some moar.

I guess this means Frost Mages will still be under par in raid competitiveness, even though the developers have stated they are aware and intend to fix. Fat chance!

"I guess this means Frost Mages will still be under par in raid competitiveness, even though the developers have stated they are aware and intend to fix."
That was the first thing I thought of. :( Sad Frost Mage is sad.
(And glad he dual-specced and has been working on a Frostfire spec in the meantime.)

in a way Kassu, it is an illusion, as it's only in the top raiding guilds with access to ulduar loot can fury warriors overcome the deficiency, otherwise it's bust
Yaikage May 5th 2009 2:34PM
Yea fury warriors are like that, you're dps hurts until you reach that magic point, the point where you can generate enough rage with your off hand to HS spam nonstop and still use Slam, BT, WW and every other thing you need. Then suddenly boom your dps skyrockets, the extra miss rate on your MH due to DWing disappears completely and you get bonus damage every hit. But until then, GL.

Oh, Paladins...
Jeff May 4th 2009 1:29AM
Yeah, really.
I'm not saying Blizzard hates my class, but I am saying that they fucking suck at keeping it from being a lollercoaster.
Geres May 3rd 2009 8:11PM
Except for warlock nerfs, there will be many more warlock nerfs.
cjgomez65 May 3rd 2009 8:34PM
I hear ya. I'm tempted to roll another class.
Grimjaww May 3rd 2009 9:30PM
What?? Are you not awed by the 'new and exciting things' Blizz has done with soulshards. And lets face it, Siphon Life and Immolate are 2 dots we SL/SL locks dont really need, amirite?
That means we can spend more time uselessly trying to fear targets.
vazhkatsi May 3rd 2009 9:47PM
QQ Moar, daddy likes it when you cry. they changed some aspects of SL/SL, learn to live with it or respec or better yet reroll. SL/CB is still melting faces
Nagi May 3rd 2009 10:48PM
I'd agree with you except for the fact that the last round of "nerfs" upped my DPS by a fairly large amount.
Of course, except for a very brief (yet not brief enough in retrospect) period between levels 58 and 65 where I got a wild hair to try something different (and inferior, again in retrospect), I've been deep Affliction the whole way through, so I've been missing out on this hot half-Demo trick build QQ'ing.
Lucky me, I guess.

I don't like how squishy I still am in PvP and how undead can be immune to fear, etc., especially since I don't have enough haste to quickly howl at them after. But I'm enjoying decimation and lightweave and a ton of other stuff in PvE. Oh yeah, added a minor glyph for soul shards, so I can giggle when I grab 3 off a mob's death blow sometimes. :) Now I just wish glyph of life tap would get cheaper.
I'll be able to afford that about the time I finish T7.
seanfury May 3rd 2009 8:17PM
Goddammit. I never called for a straight outnerf before, but Ret Paladins need one hard.
I took one out to the PTR, you literally press four buttons and win.
jfofla May 3rd 2009 8:32PM
Until I Dual Specced, I had not played a ret pally.
Now I have, and they are fine as is. They are not the least bit OP.
I have to hit three, and sometimes four buttons to kill things.
Ensoulled May 3rd 2009 10:13PM
I recently duel-specced Holy/Shadow (priest) and that's how many I hit to make a kill in shadow in my healing gear (don't have a dps set yet).
Shh...don't tell anyone.
