We won't see many more class changes in Wrath of the Lich King, says Ghostcrawler
So here's some news that'll probably make you feel good if you're okay with your class and just want to grab consistent set of talent specs and go at it, but may get you a little down if you still dislike where your class is. Ghostcrawler said yesterday that he believes there won't be many drastic class changes. In fact, he says, most of the 3.1 class changes were meant to compensate for or tinker with the changes made in 3.0 or to further tweak the classes that got the largest amount of overhaul.
On the plus side, these means that hopefully the current 3.1 talent builds are more or less set, so you don't have to worry too much about respecing based on major changes to class. On the other hand, if you don't like where your class or favorite talent tree is right now, you may be in trouble.
That said, Ghostcrawler hasn't ruled out further changes, and has all but said that there will probably be numbers adjustments. So what we can probably take from this is, at the least, that the basic mechanics and rotations for every class and talent spec are more or less set, at least until someone theorycrafts something different. This also hopefully means that they can focus on adding more content for us to use all our class mechanics on in future patches.
But for now, I hope you like what you have, because it may be all you're getting.

Please my Cat rotation Simpler... Please?
Oh, and ermm..... Give me and Warriors some more threat and magic mitigation love.
That's all I ask :P
Aureliana May 4th 2009 7:55AM
Please NOT this. The cat part, anyway. Cat DPS is an elegant puzzle, and is the reason I play the class. If I wanted to press one button I'd roll pally healer, and if I wanted to faceroll I'd roll DK.

Do not draw attention to cat dps. Nothing to see here. Nothing needs to be changed.
h8rain May 4th 2009 9:29AM
@saxamaphone
I know what you are talking about :D We have an 80 kitty in our guild, and he does crazy DPS. I can't even come close on my druid (granted I am not as geared, but we are talking about 2 *thousand* DPS difference).
Kitty DPS is an extreme example of SKILL. If you can do it well, then you can put out some huge numbers. If you don't (like me) then it will show (especially if you are similar geared).
Ironically, the only way I can keep up with his DPS is on my Shadow priest. (which is "NOTHING TO SEE HERE, JUST MOVE ALONG"). I can easily be in the top 3 for DPS on my spriest (usually only a DK and that specific kitty beat me). I *love* the trash pulls in spider quarter in Naxx.

Only a smidge easier, but that mainly because being a melee class sucks and on top of the rotation, you have to deal with the countless things the boss likes to do to kill melee.
I fail at doing both, okay?

Still waiting on a gnome healing class... and waiting.

"Still waiting on a gnome healing class... and waiting."
Know what's sad? Being a gnome lock in a raid and being 3rd in heals because of fel armor and a single enchant I did that was MP5 instead of hit because I was leveling enchanting. :) Especially now that life tap is mandatory! Also makes my battleground stats look odd.
WoWie Zowie May 3rd 2009 9:13PM
ah, he just gave me plenty of ammo for my qq gun!
borderguard May 3rd 2009 9:15PM
ahhh.... so the classes wont become COMPLETELY the same until next expansion?
crsh May 3rd 2009 9:17PM
So... reroll pally or DK, that's the way to go; at least they made it official now.
jaenicoll May 4th 2009 12:38AM
This
Come on, we all know its true. I'm seriously considering shelving my druid and my hunter to focus exclusively on my DK. Might even level up a Pally. If you can't beat them, join them.
"World of Death Pally" indeed.
Xavs May 3rd 2009 9:24PM
Oh god, that means Affliction is still going to suck for the rest of Wrath?!?!

'Goddammit. I never called for a straight outnerf before, but Ret Paladins need one hard.
I took one out to the PTR, you literally press four buttons and win.'
You mean you attacked some undergeared scrub in a BG and he died? To have died with just the four basic attacks suggests he really did have some shitty gear.
Or are you over emphasising just a little?
Unfortunately the paladin forums are chock full of both kinds of moron, those in piss-poor gear who had their ass handed to them and those who flat out like to make stuff up to bitch.
thedpsking May 4th 2009 3:35AM
I was agreeing with you.... until I realized the person you quoted stated that he was on the PTR. There are no undergeared scrubs on the PTR. (Well there are definetely scrubs, just not undergeared scrubs). I don't know about everyone else, but full Deadly/hateful gear is "really shitty."
hoviboy May 3rd 2009 9:55PM
so... shamans are stuck with their shitty totems mechanics till next expansion? ;(
apoxic May 4th 2009 6:03AM
This is my only shaman concern. With Mana Spring not stacking with Wisdom now for example, its just plain idiotic not to make Healing Stream and Mana Spring into one single totem.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg for totem chances I'd really want..
Hoggersbud May 3rd 2009 10:04PM
Damn, and I was hoping Rogues would tank, dogs and cats would live togther, mass hysteria!
XCOJ May 3rd 2009 10:14PM
How can you say Ret is OP? Have u seen Pro? I finally got Epic and I can barely out DPS a hunter with blues in raids, in fact I have a hard time getting into raids/instances because we just don't do that well....it seems only in pvp where I can be effective, and that's if I dont get gank, which is the case 50% of the time...
