Any word yet on fixing the "metalic walking surfaces" sound bug?

As soon as 3.1 hit lots of places sound like you are walking over crinkly tin foil, even places with wooden stairs or stone floors.

I haven't heard anything about this getting fixed.

Similar things have happened after other patches, but usually they get taken care of sooner than this.
