I think there are at least two ways to go here:First, you could let everyone have one "55" slot, which could be used for a deathknight or any other character. But only one a server. (and possibly only if you have at least one character somewhere that you leveled to 55)Second, blizzard could reduce the number of starting servers to increase the population in the old vanilla world. This is different (I think?) from pure-vanilla servers. Instead, the idea would be that there are only one or two pvp and pve servers where you can start a new character. You level it up to 58 or 60, and then are given one free transfer to another server of your choice. This would make it a lot more enjoyable to level. It's a bit depressing to always be the only person running around in your zone, feeling like the world around you is dead.

That's an interesting idea, but I benefitted a lot from being able to whisper higher-level friends to explain stuff, like how to get underwater while I'm running back to my corpse in Sunken Temple. You'd lose that if you're fenced off on some other server.
