Blizzplanet has a video they've been saving from
the New York Comic Con a little while back. This time,
they chat with Walter and Louise Simonson, part of the team behind the World of Warcraft comic, which at the time, had just re-introduced
Garona Halforcen, the half-orc assassin who is likely about to make a long-awaited appearance in the MMO world of Azeroth. The couple say that while they can't tell us much, Garona fans have some cool stuff to look forward to, as we're going to learn more about both her "past" and "future." There are some other little lore tidbits in the interview as well, including what's up with Varian Wrynn and his counterpart,
Lo'gosh. And there's good news for fans of the Horde -- while the comic book has so far had an Alliance lead character, Blizzard is
setting up new things for the Horde as well.
Clearly here are two people really ensconced in the
World of Warcraft -- they both seem to have a really great and passionate grasp on the story behind
WoW, and a real care for how the future of the story unfolds. We can't wait to see it.

Always liked Simonson's art. I remember when I first saw it as he took over the drawing duties for Thor back in the late 80's and for FF in the 90's.
Good to see that he still has it after all these years.

The faces of EVIL. Oh, and bad comics.

Not dealing with this post very much, but im not too sure why the horde is so heavily played. A majority of things you see such as videos on here or if you listen to anyone talk about it, they all play horde. am i missing out on something? i like alliance because i think the cities are real cool looking. great architecture, lol.
but im still unsure why its horde dominated?
Agerath May 4th 2009 7:15PM
Because the horde are KOOL N EBIL and the world has an inexhaustible supply of tweenagers.

Do this quest: http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11705
It will reveal everything.

I'm the same way. I've stuck with Alliance, because I think their cities look cooler.
I have to admit, though, Undercity is pretty sweet.

Actually the alliance has a larger playerbase than the horde.
And I'm not sure why you would assume horde is played by teenagers - are you just jealous that 80% of your faction is under 16?

Yeah, that's a load of crap. More younger kids think it's cool to be the bad guys. Literally the first person I ran into when I created a blood elf who yelled at me calling me a noob when I saved his butt from being killed by a mob. He told me I was a kill stealing noob. Alliance for me.
skreeran May 4th 2009 10:39PM
That's what I expected too, but I've found that there are way more noobs on Alliance on my server. Although that may just be a side effect of them outnumbering us 4:1.

Goes to show you can care deeply about a universe, and still write/draw crappy stories out of it.

Wow. It looks as if someone's parents are doing warcraft comics.
Garona? She's "hip". Right?

Simonson is a master, I fondly remember his run on Marvel's Thor.

I have to say, I'm really curious what Blizz has in store for the Horde.
It seems like they've just been dumping the "bad guy" card on top of us over and over with Garrosh, the Wrathgate, and that whole attack from behind thing.
I mean, now if the Alliance were to attack us from behind, their response would just be "Well you did it to us first!"
We need Thrall or Saurfang or someone to get our sh** together and proove that we're just as good, if not better than the Alliance.

*Sighs*
One of my favorite writers, in every comic BUT the Warcraft one.
It just really feels hamfisted and phoned in. Terrible characterisation, terrible storytelling, terrible art (subjective, I know). The whole thing seems just so much like written by an amateur than by the Master of epic storytelling himself :/ I can only imagine restrictions force him to write like that.
