Fourth volume of Warcraft: Legends manga revealed
Medievaldragon over at WorldofWar.net has a nice exclusive for fans of the on-going Warcraft: Legends manga. Volume four is out on June 9th and he's posted the cover art and ten pages for you to drool over. Even better this volume promises contributions from Dan Jolley (who I recently interviewed), Arthas-authoress Christie Golden and, of course, Richard Knaak himself.
I'm a huge fan of the manga and read it avidly so I'm especially keen to find out what happens to poor old Trag. Indeed, that's possibly the best part of this preview as it shows ten pages from the Trag-centric, Knaak authored story 'Fate'. I think this just made my day. However for those needing a Bloodsail Buccanneers fix, Medievaldragon also posted some concept sketches for you to enjoy!
Oh and if you've not caught it already, don't forget to check out our interview with series editor Troy Lewter.

Very nice artwork! It's hard to get a feel for the piece as it is incredibly hard to read (even at full screen), but I am liking what I am seeing so far.

reading Arthas ATM, meant to ask wowinsider if they would agree with me in saying that it lends rather well to a /gulp Feature Film.
Adam Holisky May 6th 2009 10:02PM
We actually heard recently that Arthas will not be part of the feature film. Or rather, at least that's the plan right now.
We should have that article up in a few days. =)

Perhaps with this and The Guild June will be a little more interesting. ^^

There is Night of the Dragon, where a draenei is one of the main characters.
Otherwise I currently can't think of any.
Valkrysa May 6th 2009 10:54PM
Night of the Dragon features a draenei priest, although she only seems to know mind sooth.
SaintStryfe May 6th 2009 11:12PM
Rise of the Horde also features the story of the DRaenei - Valen is a big character in it, as are Eredar like KJ and Archie.

On topic: I've always found Legends to be a great series and can't wait for this one to come out.

not a big fan of the outside of game merchandise. when blizz is selling these books and comics right along with beer steins and create your own guild shirts, it just starts to seem like a bit much...

It's supply and demand...if they think there's a market for it they're going to make it. So far I think it's been fairly tasteful, with things like WoW Gamerfuel on the borderline (Hey, Halo did it, so at least there's a presedence).
At least it hasen't gotten Krusty the Clown bad...a WoW-themed pregnacy tester is where I draw the line.
omnimon May 7th 2009 5:12AM
You say that, but it has potential.......
Arthas appears if its negative, Dornaa if its positive, and its shaped like a wand

oh, i know there's a demand. i mentioned the beer stein in guild chat the other day and a guildy was like "omg i've gotta have one" lol it just seems cheesy to me though. to each his or her own.

The only thing I can think of with a sort of Draenei main character is the Broken story one of Blizzard's in house writers put out. Yes, he is a Broken but close enough to Draenei. The story tells how the Broken came about and how shamanism was brought it to the Draenei.

Maybe I'm a grumpy old man of a gamer/comic reader here, but simply calling a comic "manga" doesn't MAKE IT SO. Manga is japanese comics, and this thing doesn't appear to have been even remotely near Japan, unless they took a left turn at Hokkaido with the container vessel carrying the finished product from the Chinese printshop...
Deadly. Off. Topic. May 7th 2009 3:59PM
Agreed.
Manga > Comics
The reason I think this is that I've found from reading Mangas, better artwork, storylines and naturally more interesting/appealing content.

Tokyopop is a souless shill that capitalizes on the popularity of Japanese pop culture to try and sell all of their crap. Their original series are almost always written by Americans and illustrated by either Americans or Koreans, but they still call them manga. It's a disgraceful practice. Also sorta funny, considering WoW is barely a blip on the radar in Japan.
If anything, Tokyopop's WoW comics are closer to manwha, considering their Korean artists.

Call me cynical, quite often I am, but are you absolutely sure those first few concept frames are actually Bloodsails? The 2nd and 3rd Black and White pages have all the visual imagery of The Deadmines, which would imply Defias, rather than Bloodsail.
By imagery, I mean, the Foundry look, then blowing a wooden door open by using a cannon right next to it, and also, the use of humans mining, and a goblin in a mechanical shredder. (Sneed anyone?)
RogueJedi86 May 7th 2009 8:32AM
I have to say, after years of being bored by The Deadmines, those manga shots of a run through it make it suddenly seem exciting again. A short story on a VC run from a more third person action perspective sounds like a very fun read.
skreeran May 7th 2009 9:40AM
"Bored with Deadmines" is an oxymoron.
If they made a Heroic Deadmines I would run it every moment I wasn't locked out. I loved that dungeon so much.

One (not so) minor thing that wasn't mentioned here which probably should've:
Trag's story features the first look inside the reconstructed Icecrown Citadel, and specifically shows the new, massive throne room that has been constructed around the Frozen Throne.
There are a couple of humanoid figures frozen in the pillars of ice. Hmm...
