As someone who got the guild first Archivum Data Disc, the lore behind that is sooooo cool. But most of my joys come from raiding than the game world most of the time.

I too am completely bored with WOW at the moment. In fact, I'm at the point where I only log in to do the World Event holidays for the Proto-Drake and to check my Mysterious Egg once a week to see if it turned into anything cool.Uldar isn't even that great either. And it's not becuase it's a tougher challenge then Naxx - Uldar and Naxx are just boring. Boring dungeons with boring bosses and boring designs. The game is stale at the moment.

"Boring dungeons with boring bosses and boring designs."Kudos to you on your in-depth analysis. It shows you have put much thought into your observation of a "stale" game and it sounds like you're doing so much to change the "stale-ness" by logging in solely for world events and to check a hatching egg.

@Netherscourge:You're joking right? The fights in Ulduar are not boring at all. I find them pretty fun and exciting.Ulduar itself is fantastic but the author here is right...the rest of the world is oblivious to this. It feels nothing like the big events before Ahn'Qiraj (sp?) and Sunwell.I am hoping very much Blizzard pulls out all the stops for when Icecrown Citadel is released with world events leading up to it like AQ and Sunwell.

The Argent Tournament is a joke. The mounted lance combat is a joke. In fact, ALL vehicle combat is WoW is a joke because it has nothing to do with the game.It is the epitome of a GIMMICK.It's not even a tournament - you ride around in circles on a mount clicking 1 or 2 buttons against NPC's - maybe a another player is they are bored enough to care. When I first heard about this, I was picturing huge server-wide competitions. Then I learn it's just a bunch of dumb dailies.FAIL

"In fact, ALL vehicle combat is WoW is a joke because it has nothing to do with the game."It's in the game... so of course it has something to do with the game... it's part of the game now.
5-07-2009 @ 2:30PM
Vehicle combat is great, especially the stuff added in 3.1 ( Leviathan and the tournament ). I don't know how you play on your horse, but I use all of my skills.
5-07-2009 @ 2:38PM
But if we talk about the AD tournament with riding mounts and pressing those 3 buttons.. that is not only boring but EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.I can't stand it. Half the time when you're jousting against the npcs for those medals it bugs and the damn opponent you're fighting, charges and knocks all shields off, or shoots at you and charges in less time than you can press shield breaker. So far the only way I've seen it done is by having friends help kill it as you're dueling it. I don't think this is right as it goes against chivarly, but try wasting an hour and half dueling these npcs when all they do is bug out is even worse. Then there's that daily where you're to kill x number of scourge while on their mount and you're struggling to tag something you've clearly shot at, but which goes to someone else who hits it after you did.Clearly this was made to grind time in a boring and frustrating way instead of grinding in a fun way. (Yeah, I know since when is grinding fun, anyway? But I rather enjoy my grind than wince and find excuses not to log in and do it.)

3.1 has been anything but a disappointment for me."The Argent Tournament is a joke."I don't really see what's a joke about the Argent Tourney. It's easy, yes, but it's meant to be! It's for casuals! I know quite a few people who play the game casually that love the Argent Tourney because it lets them interact with the game in a new and different way from their usual diet of running dailies or farming for gold."Ulduar is boring."Are you kidding me? Have you killed anything in Ulduar? Flame Leviathan is an absolute thrill, even on its very easy normal mode. On Hard Mode? It's like driving a tank through a fireworks show! There's more excitement in the first boss of Ulduar than in all of Naxx put together.I admit, there are issues with some of the mechanics, and bosses that I don't particularly care for - Auriya, with her "pull it right or wipe instantly" strategy, is a good example. But Razorscale, Ignis, XT, Freya, Iron Council... those are all incredibly rich encounters with a ton of detail and excitement. I can't wait to reach the last few bosses.
5-07-2009 @ 3:17PM
The mounted fights with the npcs are a little buggy with range discrepancies, but even with the bugs, I've only lost once, and that was while I was learning what the buttons do. Normally I don't even have to use the heal between any of the four fights. So, it does get boring, but if you thing it's hard, you're doing it wrong.

The problem with updating the world is all the QQers that come through and say "WHY BLIZZ IZ U CHANGING MAH GAME??" - just like they did with the Scourge Invasion of 2008.I 'm in your school of thought Alex - get some life into things, shake the world up a bit. WoW isnt so vanilla any more - blizz needs to add some sprinkles and gummy bears to their MMO-Sundae.
5-07-2009 @ 3:45PM
@ deadly off topicI think your complaints about the argent tournament are slightly unjust. I think your frustration is coming from your inability to complete the dailies easily rather then something blizzard has genuinely done wrong. "Half the time when you're jousting against the npcs for those medals it bugs and the damn opponent you're fighting, charges and knocks all shields off, or shoots at you and charges in less time than you can press shield breaker."Who says that's a bug? maybe its just a mechanic to keep players alert. The NPC's run away from you to avoid getting hit all you have to do is follow them. Really, all you have to do for these dailies is run 5 yards away, turn quickly and use your ranged attack, then run in and thrust. over and over. You should be able to easily complete all 3 valiants and 4 champions while on the same mount without healing. This is do-able in 6 minutes."Then there's that daily where you're to kill x number of scourge while on their mount and you're struggling to tag something you've clearly shot at"Never heard of this problem. If its a matter of you shooting it and just end up helping someone else get the kill instead of tagging it yourself, that's just the fact that someone got to it first. You tag a mob when you deal damage to him, not when you use your attack (which made leveling after Wotlk came out hell for warlocks before the mob tagging update). But if you are having problems with your attacks even working 100% of the time i know a lot of vehicles can bug due to addons (one you will hear a lot about is the dragon slaying hodir daily). Try disabling

I agree that in general I always had fun by going out and doing things, but only really because things rarely suggest themselves. I love the changes to the game world for the in-game holidays. My first character was an Undead, and the first holiday I saw was All Hallows'... great fun. I agree that WoW seems just way too static, especially with everything that is apparently happening in Northrend. Personally I loved the Quel'Danas Isle template. There was activity and battle everywhere... archers constantly shot down enemy Dragonhawks, swords rang everywhere, and everyone cooperated to eventually capture the entire area. There was no question that it was a war zone, and that we all were fighting to take it. I entirely miss that feeling in Northrend. There are five places I see NPCs combat the Scourge; The Argent Stand, The edge of the Red Dragonshrine, pre-chain Argent Vanguard, post-liberation Shadow Vault and pre-quest Wrathgate... but two of these locations become quiet after your intervention, and they're all pretty small and far-flung. Maybe we're not up to marching an army into Icecrown, but where are the siege engines? Where are the war machines? Where are the bombardments and small unit actions? Sure we have some massive airships with some big guns... but how will wandering around aimlessly help the war effort? Where are the formations of goblin choppers dropping bombs and gnomish planes dogfighting frostwyrms (some of them are part of a quest, but once you're done with the quest you don't see them again)? Where is there even a line of battle? What is keeping the Scourge IN Icecrown? They have Frostwyrms all over, I don't see why they don't just load up a few Abominations on some and dump them in the middle of a few towns. It seems like Arthas/Ner'zhul/LK is taking a siesta in Icecrown while his captains are running around making some mischief, not like they're actually trying to do anything significant. It also seems like fighting and defending against the Scourge is entirely the responsibility of local militias... that the Horde and Alliance armies don't really care that there are Scourge skittering around and the only reason that the Argent Crusade is out there is that they hate the Scourge... otherwise it seems we'd all be content to let the Scourge do what they want so long as they didn't bother our airships while they wander around...

So many complaints about content and about gameplay on both this blog and the wow forums can be explained away by the fact that these people are either: 1. Not good at this game. 2. Don't *get* the game. Ulduar is a fun raid with challenging fights that require you to be alert. The hard modes are still hard for your average raiding guild. Loot is good...Argent Tourney is a fun distraction that nets me TONS OF GOLD...I don't know why people are complaining about it...Zeibart, I wish I could see your achievements so I could point out how grossly unqualified your opinion of the instance is...

@d503Here you go: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Cenarion+Circle&n=FellinaNote, however, that I have not ever said the design within Ulduar is poor. I'm quite enjoying myself! The problem does not lie within the raid zone. If you read the entire article, you probably would have seen that yourself. The raid itself is well done. The problem lies in the fact that the rest of the game world gives no indication that we've just gone to war with a God.Have fun looking for things to nitpick in my Armory!

You weren't supposed to bite, Alex! :PYou've got to admit, though, that the content of this article is pretty capable of inciting difference...although, I'm sure that's in WI's best interest :PThanks for humoring me, I'm not actually gonna look :)

I lied, I looked...and Mimiron is a bitch, so I can't fault you there - In all fairness, here's mine: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Medivh&n=TippoThat being said, I think we also need to remember that this is 3.1, not 3.3 that we're experiencing...the SWP patch and all it's content was 2.4! The AQ patch was the also the 3rd major instance to come out in the vanilla cycle. Clearly we're building to something bigger here, and I don't expect that blizzard would be able to turn around a 2.4-quality patch for every revision. That being said, I still disagree on the Argent Tournament...I think it's fun! I think blizz identified that they needed to create a set of easy-to-do, conveniently located, and differently approached dailies that would help raiders offset the cost of raiding. I know doing my AT dailies prevents me having to reach into my coffers after a wipe. I would like to see PvP jousting at some point, where you could queue up like arenas or something, that would at least make the gameplay of jousting more interesting...maybe that's planned for the next phase of AT. Anyway, foot is out of mouth...but the article was still pretty inflammatory! Thanks for keeping the spark alive. :)

Mimiron, while (or because) really hard, is also a lot of fun, and the feeling you get when you do the Descent into Madness trash the first time... be sure to have music active, it's really good.

Nitpick Alert!Alex, I believe that technically you only capitalize "God" when it functions as the title or name of a specific individual entity. "A" is indefinite, meaning that capitalizing "God" following it is grammatically incorrect.
