Upper Deck has released the first expansion to
the WoW minis game, called Spoils of War. The new set of figures introduces legendary lore figures like Jaina and Kael'thas into the mix, and they can now jump onto the gameboard with player characters and duke it out in the streamlined Arena-style turn-based battles. The new set also contains Action Bar cards, which can modify your characters and party's abilities before a battle (like casting a Wrath of Air totem to modify all of your team's die rolls). And finally, the new expansion also brings items into the mix, so there's one more medium in which you can wield
Sulfuras, the Hand of Ragnaros. (And no, unfortunately, real life isn't one... yet.)
The new set is available in booster packs at a hobby and collectible store near you -- the MSRP is about $14.99, but they'll probably be around for cheaper than that eventually, if they're not already. If you're a regular player of the minis game, it sounds like it'll be a must-have addition, and if you've never picked it up before, maybe the prospect of playing some of the more famous lore figures will get you interested.

A friend and I picked up the game a while ago (and played the demo at comicon). It is pretty fun if you like tabletop gaming. The one thing that kinda bothered me was the fact that the characters themselves have no value next to the cards they come w/ that represent their stats. Meaning, if you can find all their stats- you don't need the minis (but the figurines are kinda neat)

I thought that said "First Mini Wow Expansion: Spoils of War"
I'm disappointed.

Cool! I didn't even know this was coming out. My friends and I have gotten into this game. It's pretty simple at its core but its very fun!

Looking over the new figures, I gotta say, they look like crap. Seriously, go to the minis website where they have images of them up - they couldn't even take good looking pictures of the things. Jaina Proudmore in particular is just HORRIBLE.
The core set pieces weren't always that well designed, but they at least looked like they were trying hard to match what's displayed in WoW. These look like they were designed by describing what was needed over the phone to someone who's never played the game.

I bought 3 of the $15 boxes at target but all of them had crappy alliance figures. I even got doubles of one dang dwarf. What a waste of money that was. Not one single horde.

Hey Todd, random loot is still random.
I'm looking forward to seeing all the new monsters and goats -- don't care much for Jaina Sue though.

It is a great game, as minis games go. The 'tick' mechanic works very well. People who complain about the quality of the minis obviously haven't played any other pre-painted minis games.
What else do you expect from child labor, seriously?
