Two Bosses Enter: Drakos the Interrogator vs. Salramm the Fleshcrafter

This week's Two Bosses Enter deathmatch definitely's got that boom, boom, pow. Now, we know you're not fond of The Oculus. We do know. Nonetheless, we're asking you to set aside your prejudices and consider this week's explosive contestants on their own merit: Drakos the Interrogator of The Oculus versus Salramm the Fleshcrafter of The Culling of Stratholme.
Let's review the ground rules: Assume that these foes share similar levels, health pools, damage output and are fighting on neutral territory. Don't get caught up in game mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter. Focus your debate on the three S's -- Style, Story and Scale – and consider the flavor each villain brings to bear. What do you think would happen during this battle? Leave your comment explaining what happens, and cast your vote for who you think blows up who.
Drakos the InterrogatorThe prisoners shall not go free. The word of Malygos is law!
Drakos the Interrogator, a Dragonkin, is the first boss met by visitors to The Oculus. He is best known to his enemies for the randomly cruising bombs he summons during battle.
- Thundering Stomp
- Magic Pull
- Summon Bombs Summons several bombs that wander randomly for a few seconds, then explode for Arcane damage.
Salramm the FleshcrafterYou are too late, champion of Lordaeron. The dead shall have their day.
Salramm the Fleshcrafter, the second boss found in The Culling of Stratholme, is a Human Necromancer. He, too, is known for his explosive summons – in this case, ghouls.
How will Salramm's Ghouls fare against Drakos' bombs? Read more about Salramm the Fleshcrafter's battle style, and review insights from players who've fought him.
The smackdown
The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output. They are fighting in neutral territory. Can you come up with a convincing scenario in the comments that will sway other readers to vote for your victor of choice?

They both spend the entire time avoiding combat and forcing their minions to fight. A tie in my opinion.

In my days of instance running Drakos the Interrogator is the most lethal, aside from Loken. Drakos has destroyed and intimidated so many of my groups. I hate running Oculus because of him.
Eamara May 7th 2009 6:10PM
Drakos the Interrogator. He wields Sonic Spear, and any Hunter that had to gear up for raiding in TBC will agree with me that that is reason enough for him to win.
Elmo May 8th 2009 5:53AM
80 SL runs on my hunter and then it dropped the first time I geared a Shaman alt.
CURSE YOU SONIC SPEAR!
I will vote for the Necromancer just for this reason

Salramm = Schramm = Lose!
:P
(only cause he's always hating on DK's)

"cause he's always hating on DK's"
And rightly so.

Drakos would win by default because Salramm would avoid the Oculus just like everyone else does. Seriously this zone is so unused I swear this is where mobs go before they are respawned...WoW limbo.

LOL
So utterly true.
I'll add a "real" reason though.
Every time the Necromancer tries to summon the adds, he gets yanked to the Interrogator and then eats some bombs.
DruidGuard May 7th 2009 6:22PM
Salramm all the way. Not only will this necromancer's ghouls actually go straight for Drakos (unlike the wandering bombs), they can be popped for even more fun if Salramm thinks they'll die too soon due to bombs or Thundering Stomp.
And Saramm's two abilities, curse of twisted flesh and steal flesh, means that Drakos is going to be at a serious disadvantage; Drakos will have only 85% of his maximum health, a nasty long-lasting DoT, AND a 75% damage debuff, while Salramm gains bonus damage to wail on his dragon hide.
Drakos would have to do some real fancy maneuvers to combat Salramm's abilities, but in the end, I believe the dead WILL have their day.
Saravok May 7th 2009 6:34PM
I agree with DruidGuard.
The Ghouls will be largly ineffective, but do far more than the bombs. Our Necromancer can blast his Ghouls for a bit more boom, while Drakos can't force Salramm into them. Then, the Debuffs come in. Curse of Twisted Flesh will hurt alot, and steal life will reduced Drakos' DPS to laughable amounts.
No contest really, Drakos is good, and good at killing players, but Salramm has the tools needed to win a bossfight.

off-topic: i'm kind of surprised by these responses, on my server at least the first boss of the oculus is the easiest, and I can't recall every wiping on him...that said however it's the next 3 bosses that continually somehow avoid being understood by the general populace and I've never been in an oculus run where we haven't wiped on at least one or all of the bosses except for the first one
on-topic: fleshcrafter definitely sounds scarier than interrogator...my vote is for him

I also believe that it would be Salramm who would win the fight.
The bombs that Drakos summons would blast away at the ghouls summoned by Salramm, but if they are about to die he could simply blow them up to deal lots more damage.
Then theres the actual abilities of the bosses. Drakos' abilities seem to only be focused on AOE which would hurt the ghouls, but wouldn't do much against Salramm himself. Meanwhile, the Fleshcaller can reduce Drakos' health to 75%, give him a big DOT, decrease his damage by 75%, buff his own damage by 75%, and then just PEW PEW with Shadow Bolts.
No contest really.

Random Bombs and Weak Attack vs a ghoulish zerg, significant direct fire DoT and a nasty debuff....
Sorry, the lizard loses
elstor May 7th 2009 8:32PM
Salramm because of his name.
Evil1 May 7th 2009 10:18PM
As a tank I've not had aproblem with either of them (shockwave is great for keeping the ghouls close so they damage me rather than the squidgies in the back keeping me up) and I find it easy to avoid the bombs.
I think Salaram has this one in the bag because he has a better range of damage dealing and debuffing. Would really depend on timing though. Thundering Stomp and Magic pull should both interupt casting and so could really ruin Mr Fleshcrafter's day but used badly and it is goodnight Drakos (Magic pull after ghoul summon then have Sal put em to the torch all in close range followed up by a curse and a couple of shadow bolts)
billyvideo May 7th 2009 10:23PM
I like em both, but..Saltamm all the way!!! that corpse explosion he does is insane lol.
Nephilym May 7th 2009 10:59PM
Salramm will win for his voice alone. Anyone that has the same voice as Magic Emperor Ghaleon is total awesomeness in my book.
SheldonLock May 8th 2009 1:19AM
I didn't even know Salramm was even a Boss. He just goes down so quickly, I sometimes think he dies just from AoE.
kraak May 8th 2009 4:19AM
salramm has most powerful one on one abilities, drakos just is good at inflicting damage on multiple players
Evalus May 8th 2009 7:47AM
I'd say Salramm will win.
This is how the fight will go:
Both Salramm and Drakos first hurl insults at each other.
Salramm starts by casting Shadowbolts at Drakos while Drakos charges Salramm, attacking him. Salramm would have already got at least 2 Shadowbolts at Drakos.
Next, while Drakos starts putting out those arcane bombs everywhere, Salramm will be busy reanimating Ghouls. Drakos then uses Magic Pull, pulling Salramm and his undead friends right into the mass of exploding bombs.
Ok, Drakos has the upper hand right now, with him being only minorly injured and Salramm probably having 40% of his health blown away. Salramm now plays his ace: casting the Curse of Twisted Flesh on Drakos, therefore reducing his max health by 25%. That is followed up by a Steal Flesh and Shadowbolt combination. That one Shadowbolt, buffed by steal Flesh, will destory a large portion of Drakos' health, probalby leaving him with 50% health, with his life draining away.
Drakos will be summoning bombs and using a Magic Pull + Thundering Stomp combination. However, the necromancer had summoned more help. This time, the moment Salramm and his minions are Magic Pulled to Drakos, he will quickly cast Explode Ghoul in Drakos's face, just before the bombs go off.
By now, Salramm would have been left with about 25% health, due to the bombs. He quickly casts the Curse before Drakos can attempt another Magic Pull. Drakos's health would have been drastically reduced due to this. While Drakos frantically lays out more bombs, Salramm uses Steal Flesh followed up by Shadowbolts.
This time, Drakos will die due to the sheer augmented damage of the Shadowbolts. But it will be a close fight.
PS: Of course, what do u expect? It WILL be a close fight 'cos we got a powerul dragonkin commander against a puny mortal hunman wearing a dress!
