WoW Moviewatch: M is for Muchacho
Warning: There's a bit of sex bits in here, which might weird you out a bit.
M is for Muchacho was suggested to me by Art on the tip line. Uploaded by Wuza, this video is actually one hell of an interesting freshman effort. The plot is a familiar one. A small group of compatriots are relaxing by their campfire when the king's men come to harass them. Unable to pay their taxes, the cadre must train at the feet of a combat master in order to defend themselves when the king's men return.
What makes it so interesting to me? While the animation is basically made up of various in-game footage, "M is for Muchacho" shows a definite appreciation for story. At a run time of over 20 minutes, the story admittedly could have used a faster pace. Another option might have been to chop it up into smaller pieces. Regardless, Wuza was clearly trying to work on characterization, plot, and story-arc progression. (Also, I found the soundtrack choice for the muchachos' training montage to be hilarious.)
I hope Wuza keeps working and developing. I like story-based machinima, and I'm always eager to see new creators enter the fold.

Heh. I didn't read their logo on the video correct. It actually doesn't look like FLICKS at all.

Yeah, that was a total MIND FLICK.

The training montage was great; the orcs doing sit-ups was a really clever use of emotes. The scene directly after that was... disturbing... though. Looking forward to seeing more.

I, too, enjoyed the sit ups scene but was just baffled by what came after. Was that sex scene necessary xD? Was she being raped, or was she meant to be characterized as a whore? I just didn't get it x_x?

Really good use of emotes, but why was the belf always dancing? And OMG NARUTO MUSIC... haven't heard that in like a years.
Nina May 8th 2009 12:56PM

Yeah..even though it's in-game footage, and horrible I may add, you should probably have a warning up about that "sex scene" Michael

Yeah. I'm sorry, but this was...lacking. And the sex scene? Unneeded, didn't fit in with the storyline at all.
Sorry, but this one was fail.

I think I understand -why- he did it; I think the purpose is to set up both doubt in the viewer's mind about the motives of their teacher, make the viewer more sympathetic to the main characters, and to make the viewer want to see the teacher get his ass kicked. There's ways, I think, that he could have used the same general idea to really make us glad to see the teacher get his... It just... wasn't done enough in a way to engender the ire and disgust needed, and instead left us confused.
I do really like that the author is trying for a story, and liked the movie. I know from making machinima myself sometimes we aren't always so successful at getting our intended point across. So we just gotta keep trying. :)

Look back through the archives - this was featured here 6 months ago. This was made by Oxhorn, not the racist piece of sh** who stole it and posted it on the YouTube channel you linked to.

"TheEpicJoe" - created his account yesterday, made one post (this one) yesterday, Oxhorn's stolen video was posted on that YouTube channel...yesterday...
So, Keyra, I strongly suspect that "TheEpicJoe" *IS* that racist piece of shit who stole it (and has two YouTube accounts so that he could comment on it within minutes after it was posted) or is at least a friend of said pile of excrement.

Wow, You guys are rude.

It looks like sex and dancing are the female character's only purpose in the movie. Two thumbs down for that.
