Breakfast topic: The impossible achievements
Every evening there's a guy on my server who spams looking for group for an "experienced" group to do the Less-rabi and Make it Count Heroic Dungeon achievements. This has been going on for weeks now. I kind of feel bad for the guy. Some of the dungeon achievements are harder than others, but these have clearly been a pain for him. He really wants the Glory of the Hero achievement, and I hate the Occulus enough that I really can't bring myself to help him. I never hear him complaining about the achievements being difficult, he just keeps at it. It's actually quite admirable. My guild has a few overachievers in it. We usually do the best we can to lend them a hand, but they seem to grind endlessly to earn their points.
I don't usually go off in search of achievements, but there's one I just can't seem to get. Since I'm playing Druid it seems appropriate to get the Guardian of Cenarius title/achievement. The problem is not that it's difficult, but since my character was created after WotLK was released, I have no Cenarian Circle rep to speak of. I find it hard to make the time to go back to the old world and grind rep while still working on endgame progression.
What's your elusive achievement?

That is because you are weird. ;)

Just because you do something the hard way doesn't mean it's the best way ;)

My hardest, or most sought after achievement, right now is Glory of the Hero, because I really want a proto drake, but my friend got lazy because he got his DK to 80 and only went on his Paladin to raid :|
Aside from that, I'd really like to finish the Burning Crusade dungeon list. I've done every heroic about 500 times, but because it was so long before WotLK it didn't count -_-

"100000 Honorable Kills" and "The Conqueror".
At first I thought I was lucky to be Exalted with Frostwolf already, but the all the kills in AB are getting tiring. And I'm not thinking about all the WSG matches till Exalted with the Warsong Outriders...

Not to brag...I should be hitting 100K this weekend. only 800 more dead hordies
The elusive one for me is defending 3 bases in AB in one game. Can't seem to get into a tight match that would allow this to happen. I was recapping a base last week and some jackass pally thru a Hand of Protection on me and recapped himself
Go Team!

You people are horrible. Just anticipate his last transformation and have everyone try to predict/interrupt it. My group got it the FIRST TIME we tried it this way. His casts get faster and his 4th cast is impossible to react to. You have to anticipate it and hit your interrupt BEFORE he starts casting it.
I have really good timing and I nailed it first try.
20 min Eragos clear was a lot more difficult.

The PVP ones are going to be near impossible for me. I'm starting to do Battlegrounds on occasion now, so my plan is just to let things happen as they happen and not worry about it too much. Eventually I'll surprise myself and end up with some of them.
My current project has become working on rep to get factions to exalted. It's a great project for during the day when I don't have time to do instances since I need to walk away at the drop of a hat. The problem is, I get bored with grinding mobs 20-30 levels lower than me. Quickly. So I've set up a rotation to work through the various reps, work on one for "x" period of time, and move on. For instance, if there are mobs I can kill for rep, I'll kill them til my bags get full. If there are mobs that drop items for rep, I'll kill *them* until my bags get full, then turn in the items. If there's a group with a bunch of dailies, I'll do their available dailies and then move on. It'll be a slow process, but when I attempted to start doing it one faction at a time, it just felt way too overwhelming. This way, I don't totally head-butt against a frustrating one for days/weeks at a time (Zandalar and Hydraxian Waterlords, anyone?). The only one I was able to grind straight through was Timermbaw.

Brood of Nozdormu anyone?

Eek. ^ This.
Was going for Dirge's Kickin' recipe this weekend, and did some research to see what it entailed. 17k or 18k bug parts? Something like 79 or 85 STACKS of carapaces (at 200 per stack). Uh ... no.
For. get. it.

Not looking forward to 100,000 Honorable Kills or Battlemaster, though i definitely want both eventually.
too bad my server is so skewed Alliance that i'll probably never be able to get Defense of the Ancients or Not Even a Scratch. WTB new match making system for BG's

Is Less-rabi really that hard? As a fury warrior, my pummel will stop the transformation. The only problem I've run into is that towards the end, he does two transformations too close to each other. He does one transformation, and I stop it, but the next one he does comes just about two seconds before my cooldown finishes. The main tank I usually run with is a pally, but if I had a warrior as a main tank, he could definitely stop it with Shield Bash. Or even have a second warrior dps'ing with me could use his pummel. Point being, this hasn't seemed like a hard achievement to get. I just haven't been in the right group yet but then again, I haven't actively sought this one out.

Damn, just hearing it I pity this guy too. I'm another one stuck on my server trying to get people to do achievements with me for weeks now - it's really hard to get a group that's decent enough and want achievements still.
The ones that want them bad enough already got them, and the ones that don't have them yet... well, they don't want them probably. Hence why people who are late to the game compared to the 'main pack' are always left out.

As others have said, grinding CC rep in Silithus really isn't too bad. If you need to, just focus on how much gold you're going to make selling runecloth. :P

a combat rogue can practically trivialize less-rabi by speccing into Throwing Specialization and spamming fan of knives (with adrenaline rush, if required).
Foxfyr May 9th 2009 1:43PM
We did Less-Rabi by DPSing him into the ground.
We had 4 DPS and a Feral Druid tank.
Used Heroism right off the bat and we were able to kill him before he tried a fourth transformation cast. This meant that his third cast was a fast one but not the crazy hard to inturrupt speed that he sometimes has when his health is very low.
I (Rogue) inturrupted the first cast, the enhancement shaman took the second, and both of us and a mage all went for the third.
Zinn May 9th 2009 1:59PM
Yeah, Less Rabi, that one was a real pain. Every other achi, although some of them quite difficult (like Watch him die) were till fun to do. Because they weren't all about luck.
Less Rabi on the other hand is all luck.
Like Mitaela says, even if you have a reverberation shammy that is no guarantee for success. He can aoe stun just before transforming (which means you'll be stunned during it and can do nothing). And his cd seems to reset when going below 50% which means he can recast transform 4 sec or 6 sec after the last one. So unless someone else is jedi-fast on the interrupt you'll fail then too.
Those two fails happened to us like 20 times before we got it.

'I hate the Occulus enough'
Am I the only one who spells it correctly 'The Oculus' with a single 'c' and not a double 'cc'?
