Correct, if was cancelled for many reasons:

* Advertise the heck out of it, include the phrase "naked girl in a box," then don't show the pilot - with the naked girl in a box. Instead, jump to episode 2, and try to introduce the characters and have a Fox-approved storyline in 1 hour.
* Don't air the episodes in wide-screen, as they were intended.
* Run 5 episodes, then break 4 weeks for baseball season. When you return, don't tell anyone and change the timeslot.
* Cancel the show based on ratings - after getting higher ratings than the first 2 seasons of X-Files.

Zoe: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing?
Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.
