Breakfast Topic: Mothers' Day edition

To all you non-maternal Azerothians: after taking care of orphans for a week, or subjecting them to atrocities, whichever... perhaps you have more of an appreciation of what motherhood is about? Or not. But still, today is the day to show your mom that you appreciate her (or remember her fondly if she is no longer with us). Even if she isn't the greatest, she is still responsible for your existence, if not your monthly payment to Blizzard. So, give a call/flowers/chocolates or, if you can afford it, a nice computer with a copy of WoW on it. If you are separated by distance, weekly visits on a nice, quiet PvE server can be a whole lot of fun.
Are you a WoW mom? Does your mom play WoW? Are you part of one of the many families who game together? Tell us your stories!

Gaming families? I only play because of my mum :P She introduced me into the scene.

My mom didn't introduce me to WoW, but she did teach me to play D&D when I was maybe six years old. My grandma bought my sister and I our first Nintendo (and Super Nintendo, and Sega) and my mom was always the one to play with us. When I started playing WoW I knew my mom would love it, so when I flew home for Christmas I took my disks with me and had her try it out. Now she's way more hardcore than I am!

Wow Mom here, My husband and son play wow... I truely enjoying playing with my family. We have lots of crazy times.
I love being able to spend time with my family even if its a game. Gamer at heart and so are my kids.. lol
I even got my 8 yr old playing ... she enjoys running around SW on her lvl3 loc ... Maybe when she is older she will actually play the game and quest instead of just jumping off the canal walls and swimming lol

Aw, very cute! :D

Mom here, too. I play and my kids play. Hubby not so much, but he's cool about it. My youngest is 7. He has a level 11 gnome lock he leveled himself. He also started a Death Knight that has yet to get out of the DK starting area. I'm trying to my kids the important things, like not to spend gold on white vendor armor, and to always put a buyout price on their auctions, and you make more money with gathering professions, especially mining.

My heart skipped a beat when I read this, I thought I had forgot! I only calmed down when I checked out Wikipedia for the UK date :)

Aw, it is so difficult for my mom to pick up anything to do with technology. I've been trying for probably a decade xD At least she can kind of send e-mails now! Maybe while I'm home from college for the summer I'll try to get her to play a little or something, that'd be fun.
As for Mother's Day, I sent her custom made dark chocolates, as any kind of dark chocolate is her favorite :3
Happy Mother's Day everyone!

My mum's dead chuffed she can load up Bejewelled off the website.
And she can use the Skybox (Think it's like a Tivo for you yanks?). Yeah she was dead proud of learning to use that, specially considering she couldn't program the DVD recorder we used before that.
Still, Happy Mothers Day to all you yanks! Get 'em something nice...
OR ELSE.

My mom plays WoW, but she's been having fps issues. Little does she know I built her a new system with all the trimmings. For all the hard work she does, she deserves more than just one day to celebrate what a great mom she is.
Happy Mother's Day to all the WoW mamas out there. You all are truly one in a million.

Hi Mom here! We are a gaming family, Mam, Dad, and 2 sons 14, 10 who all play wow.
My characters are the highest best geared in the family. I often get asked by players, "you are a mom? How do you have time to play wow!" As though I should not have a life outside motherhood hehe. Wow is my guilty secret though, noone where I work knows I am a gamer, I just don't think they would understand. I probably will be a granny gamer too! People still seem to regard older players as a bit strange, but I wonder if that will not occur one day as this type of MMORPG gets to be more of a regular occurrence. Afterall, there was none of this around when i was a girl!
When I do want to play, I have to first check with all family when I am allowed on or wait till bedtime >.> Dad often jokes he's only allowed on when the PC/Wow is broke and then its a national emergency! My oldest son is a good player but gets embarrassed by his night elf mom dressing up in her Lovely black dress and dancing in Dalaran. My youngest son just runs around crazily exploring!
But it is nice to play together

I foresee a future where only people in old people's homes play computer games, because "hip and happening" always ends up as stuff only old geezers like to do (look what happened to things like holidays in nudist camps, Cliff Richard and long sideburns).
Am very much looking forward to being an old fashioned game-addict granny, however. Telling bedtime stories to my grandchildren about how we once downed every boss in Naxx, showing them my memory-lane photograph album of Azeroth in the good old days, and being told by them that I should stop using words like lol in front of their friends, because it embarrasses them to have a granny that uses out of date words like that.

I am a WoW Mom/Grammie, and I love it!! My oldest daughter got me into the game a couple of years ago. Being able to spend time together on the game has been great and helps with not being able to see each other as ofteen as we would like.
My youngest daughter thinks the two of us are nuts, lol. No matter, the 3 grandkids keep her so busy and frazzled that she has no idea how much a little WoW would go towards relieving some of that stress. Maybe someday we can lure her into the world called "WoW" =)
