Ensidia snag world-first Rusted Proto Drake
Yesterday Ensidia completed the 10-man achievement Glory of the Ulduar Raider, giving them the first Rusted Proto-Drakes in the world. The 25-man version has yet to be cleared by anybody; the Ensidia member who posted the news mentions that he feels the 10-man achievements are significantly easier than the 25-man ones, though I'm not sure if this would still be the case if they were doing 10s in 10-man gear.
In other news, the Rusted Proto-Drake (second mount shown in the video above) is one of the coolest-looking mounts I've seen in WoW, though in my opinion the best mount in Wrath so far is the Mimiron head.

Mimiron's Head is a must have. After the chopper of course.

Epic fail lol

Even if first posting was part of the meta, you'd still have 0/14 achievements completed.

Wow! They are fast. :o

I'm no an Ensidia fan, but he does mention that it was easier for them because of the 25m gear though, so not like he was asking for buffs to the 10m hard modes.

no Ensidia fan*
Damn the lack of an Edit button. :(

10 man should be easier as thats the natural progression. Not the way it was in the earlier WotLK where 10 man usually ended up being the harder version.

I agree with you. I was just commenting on this part of the article:
"the Ensidia member who posted the news mentions that he feels the 10-man achievements are significantly easier than the 25-man ones, though I'm not sure if this would still be the case if they were doing 10s in 10-man gear."
I just wanted to point out that the person who posted the news on the Ensidia site stated that it was easy for them because they were in 25m gear and that it would be fun and challenging if you were rolling in 10m gear. That part of the article which I quoted above seems to imply that they didn't do so.

agreed on the 10 man gear for 10 mans. The mount should only be awarded if the gear used wasn't from 25 man ulduar.
havitech May 11th 2009 5:48PM
Imagine how many people with perfectly good 25man gear would be rolling on inferior gear just to use for the achievement, and how players who could have used the upgrade would feel about that.
Cowdungus May 11th 2009 5:53PM
QQ? 10 man achievements would once again be trivialized by 25 man gear. just dont give them a mount if they use 25 man gear, like with the title for alganon
Anthology May 11th 2009 6:31PM
So... You're saying a group that can clear 25man shouldn't be allowed to do the achievements with gear they earned? Really?
I'm failing to see your logic, honestly, very few achievements are supposed to be done on the first run through.
Cowdungus May 11th 2009 7:56PM
well ill just go right back to zulaman and go get my war bear then cause i "earned" my ulduar gear as well
havitech May 11th 2009 8:31PM
@Cowdungus
ZA was T5-level, correct me if I'm wrong. How many guilds would you bet farmed the mount without any BT/Hyjal/SW gear?
My view is, the 10/25man split is imperfect, and we're at the mercy of Blizzard to decide how to handle each progression path without trivializing the other but at the same time keep both rewarding in their own right.
You might not always agree with their decisions, but you shouldn't get too bent out of shape if someone gets the 10man drake with 25man gear. There's no good solution that doesn't arbitrarily restrict many players from getting it.
Anthology May 11th 2009 9:57PM
I just can't wrap my head around it.
Why act like you've been violated? You have the chance to get a proto-drake just like anyone else, nothing was taken from you.
Why should anyone be forced to have an entire set of inferior gear so they can get an achievement? Everyone had the chance to get the ZA bear if they were around, geared, and competent enough- And it was the same for the last Glory of the Raider drakes. Now those are removed, and I assume that by the time the next Raid Content patch is introduced Ulduar Raider drakes will be removed as well.
I bet you'd bitch about it what, though.

Why have those lazy Euros not done it on 25?
It is not as if they have ANY other purpose in life.
Dightkuz May 11th 2009 6:35PM
