Around Azeroth: The dark knight returns
After a random disconnect in Alterac Valley, Kyutir of <Reforged> on Cenarius found that his character had undergone a startling transformation on relogging. "I was something else entirely," he wrote. "Something more evil. Something even the GMs only whisper about at night! I turned into a Shadowform Paladin! I stayed this way throughout the entire length of the Alterac Valley, letting the foolish Horde bask in the corruption transfixed before them." This is actually a pretty common graphics bug, particularly with older video cards, so no need to demand a nerf to shadoretpaladins.
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, double-mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

Stupid shadoretpaladins.
Shadow Word: of Justice needs to be nerfed.
Zakarii May 11th 2009 11:31PM
And don't forget that damn Power Word: Divine Shield!

You mean the two made by Sega with all the mini-games(upon further search, Feel the Magic: XY/XX)? I was actually thinking of the same thing.

This happens to me all the time, usually all player models look like this, not just my own.
Rylka May 12th 2009 10:33AM
Just a side note here. Does anyone know why WOW draws shoulders and weapons separately from the rest of the model?
If you are dead, your shoulders and weapons stay solid while the rest of you is transparent. Looking here you can see that even when the graphics card messes up and makes your model black, it drew the shoulders and weapons fine.
I notice this disconnect lots of times whenever the game would apply some sort of effect to a character's whole body, the shoulders and weapons are often left out.
Hardly game breaking I know, but it always draws my eye, "breaking the illusion" somewhat. So, I'm curious if anyone knows of a reason why WOW does this.

I have wondered that myself. I have also noticed that sometimes it looks like the shoulders are floating over me, not on me.
Craig R May 12th 2009 12:03PM
this is because, as devs have stated before, graphical sfx get tagged onto shoulder, head, and weapon slots. Because of this, secondary layers that get applied (as a shadow priest, my shoulders aren't translucent like the rest of me is) don't fully affect these targets, sometimes not affecting them at all.

You mean like the little glows and movement stuff?
Only thing I can think of that is different than regular armor look.

I've had this happen to my toon on the character-choosing screen before.

I have had this problem since the 3.1 patch. I look fine, but all other players look like this. Not NPCs, and not players that are in some way "morphed" or "transformed" (druids in form, players in any sort of costume). I put in a ticket, and got e-mails in reference to the problem, but after sending Blizzard the information they asked for, I did not hear back from anyone again with either a solution or a "we're sorry, but we have no idea" message. My video card is not that old, and the driver is up-to-date. Things were fine before 3.1 so I don't think it's a card problem. If anyone has a suggestion for fixing this, I'd really appreciate it!

Heh...I had the same problem on my Shadow Priest. She was even more Shadow. I also had one night when I logged onto her she was standing on her horse. I tried to grab a screen shot of it be she sat down too quickly.

Weird coincidence, I noticed this on a dead Tauren in Hillsbrad today. If I moved my camera to a certain angle, he disappeared. If I moved it back, he was just a big, dead, shadow-Tauren.

Totally willing to bet I'm the only person on this site who saw this and thought of Revolutionary Girl Utena.
