Blizzard confirms Grunty, the Marine Murloc, as BlizzCon giveaway

To no one's surprise, Blizzard has confirmed that yes, Grunty, the Space Marine Murloc we posted about yesterday, will be given away in the BlizzCon goody bag to all attendees. Anyone who also orders the DirecTV pay-per-view package this year will also pick up the noncombat pet as an in-game item. So if you want to get your hands on this little well-armed gurgler, get those F5 buttons and your Battle.net accounts ready: tickets go on sale May 16th.
As we noticed yesterday, the little guy also has a Gauss rifle that he will periodically fire into the air, Blizzard says, "to make sure no invisible spacecraft are swooping in to attack." Which is cute and all, but you know what would be cuter? Hearing a Space Marine radio version of the little guy's Murloc gurgle when you click on him.
*ksshhkk* Mrguggugguggle! *ksshhkk* Blizzard, make it so!

Oh, I want this so bad, despite the fact that I don't really care for Halo and Hal0-esque games.

STARCRAFT > HALO
Halo is wayyyy after starcraft and will never revolutionize the world as much as SC did. Just ask the Koreans.
My life for Aiur!

Well, I don't care for Starcraft either! :P
I initially typed in "space marine games", but decided against it when I realized that my Halo-hate overrode that of general space marine hate. /facepalm

Halo was awesome... but then Halo 2 came... and the writing went to the sh!ts. I mean, what the hell was that crap about? It was horrible!
Still, out of Halo came the Rooster Teeth guys. Their Machinimas are awesome!

Total Annihilation > SC any day of the week.
But that's just my own opinion.

They should secretly program it to fight zerg pets and then either at the next con or part of the SC2 release, give us a zerg pet. Imagine the pet battles!

You know how some of the pets interact with each other? Iwonder if this thing will interact with the collector's edition of Vanilla WoW pet of the zergling.
Kittiann May 12th 2009 3:42PM
Now that would be AWESOME.

anyone know if there is a limit on how many internet streams are being sold. I dont care about the stream I want the pet. Also are these accounts Soulbound or account bound?
Kylenne May 13th 2009 2:30AM
If they're anything like the Big Blizzard Bear from last year's Blizzcon, they will be Bind to Account.

I love this little guy :). My fiance and I are going to be trying to snag tickets as part of our Honeymoon Roadtrip of Awesome later this year, but even if we don't manage I think I'll get this guy through Pay-Per-View.
I played Starcraft long before WoW got me into the Warcraft Universe.. so many memories. Go Kerrigan!
Guyledouche May 12th 2009 3:42PM
gah, was hoping for a flying mount this year. will have to settle for this little guy. maybe if there are 2 near each other they could have a battle royale!!!
Lyraat May 12th 2009 3:48PM
I don't have much interest in Blizzcon, but I would sure love to have Grunty! I wonder if I can order the PPV even if I dont have DirecTV...
Retropally May 12th 2009 3:52PM
Dude, arent they doing a live internet stream this time too? Thats hopefully what i'm doing unless ive read something terribly wrong.
marc May 12th 2009 4:00PM
The PPV web site doesn't say whether Internet-only viewers get the same perks that the DirecTV subscribers do, though. I hope that they do.
Blake May 12th 2009 4:27PM
Blue confirmation that the non-subscriber internet stream DOES come with the murloc:

Retropally May 12th 2009 3:50PM
This is awesome, I dont know what i'm more excited about...staying up for blizzcon (I'm EU) or getting this pet.
flawless May 12th 2009 3:59PM
If I have the cash, and it's available in the UK, I'm signing up for the DirecTV package for BlizzCon - havn't got a hope of getting over there this year, unfortunately.
