The Queue: Of vampires and lances
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today. We're going to jump right in today, because we have plenty to talk about this time around!
NarwhalFrenzy asked...
"Referring to the quest Out of Body Experience, we already know what happened to Prince Keleseth and Prince Valanar, but will we ever figure out what happened to the other darkfallen there, like Prince Theraldis or Prince Atherann?"
I have no doubt we'll be seeing them in Patch 3.3, in and around Icecrown. Prince Theraldis (the one on a horse (with an equine-themed pashmina afghan)) seems to have been the overseer of that whole project going on during Out of Body Experience, so I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a raid boss and Prince Atherann is in a 5-man or a group quest elsewhere. Though it would be interesting if they were a side-by-side raid boss, like the Twin Emperors. Hm!
Erik asked...
"I am currently leveling my first Horde character through Outland (Hellfire Peninsula right now). What quest hubs should I be on the lookout for lore-wise? I've heard Nagrand was good (being the home of the Orcs or something I believe), what else should I not miss?"
I haven't taken a Horde character through Outland yet, I've only read the quests and all of that on places like Wowwiki and Wowhead. I'm going to take a stab at this question anyway in the hope that our readers will have some thoughts on it as well for the comments.
My stab at this: Nagrand is very, very good, but you need to make sure you do pretty much every quest chain there. It opens up the truly epic questline after you've done almost everything else. Blade's Edge Mountains has a great quest chain involving Rexxar, and Shadowmoon Valley has amazing quests for both factions. I personally love Zangarmarsh because of its overall ambiance, but that's just me.
Zerounit asked...
"Is there a website that approaches PvP like Elitist Jerks approaches PvE?"
Arena Junkies.
sadloser asked...
"I'll admit I'm not the best PvPer, but I gotta say that rogue stunlocks seem ridiculous. I know it depends on which class you're playing but is there any good way to beat them? Are they considered OP? Even with my trinket it seems unfair that I go from full health to dead without a chance to fight back. Not looking for advice so much as what the overall opinion on this is. I'm guessing nothing but rogues laughing at me."
If you don't have good PvP gear (and I mean really good gear, I'm talking epics. Those blues don't cut it), Rogues will be one of the classes that destroy you, along with people like Death Knights and Mages and Ret Paladins. When you're in actually good gear, the playing field levels out quite a bit. Rogues can't pull off the super-gibs nearly as well anymore.
I've found that the key to breaking a Rogue's stun chain is to trinket the Kidney Shot. Just wait out the Cheap Shot, let it happen and run out. When the Kidney Shot lands, that's when you trinket. If you could tell us your class in the comments below, I bet people would have other tips for you as well.
Amberlee asked...
"Argent Tournament Dailies - Why do I have both an Argent Lance and an Alliance Lance in my bag? Is it safe to get rid of one or both? I know there are lance racks around but are they for the alliance or argent lances?"
There are two different types of lances for flavor, but as far as I can tell they don't serve any different functions. You can do all of the quests with just one type of lance. You can throw one away. You can throw both away if you want, and just grab one off of any rack if you suddenly need one. It doesn't matter if it's an Alliance(or Horde) or an Argent lance. They both work.

I have a question. Is it possible for an active Blood Knight to also participate and be a member of the Church of the Holy Light?
Camaris May 12th 2009 6:44PM
I think with what happened at the Sunwell after Kil'jaeden defeat and M'uru's sacrifice, that is certainly a possibility.
And even if that particular story hasn't been followed up much in the game yet, I suppose the Scryer blood elves already followed the Holy Light (in a very literal sense), although probably not the actual Azerothian Church.

This.
The only spec a mage has that can go toe to toe with a melee class that isn't a rogue is perhaps arcane/frost because of all the mobile (instant cast) spells they get as well as snares. Fire doesn't stand a chance unless you get extremely lucky with hot streak and ignite. For all of the mage's escape options, the melee classes generally have a counter that is better (blessing of freedom, i'm looking at you [at least before you get spellsteal]) and they can kill you far faster than you can kill them.
Disc Priests do rather well, though, as well as affliction warlocks.
And then there's rogues:

Because nothing about rogues has changed since patch 1.6, right?
Torumin May 12th 2009 11:41PM
I linked the video because I thought it was funny. Rogues do have the ability to pick and choose their battles though, something the other classes can't exactly do.
Arena teams may be balanced, but I do think single combat and BGs are broken with regard to class balance.
In before "less QQ more pew pew."

I'm a Healing specced Priest (mostly Holy with a little Disc) and I pretty much get killed by everything. Most Battlegrounds I have time to run from the graveyeard to a fight, get off a couple of heals maybe a Shield until I'm killed. I spend more time dead than alive a lot of times.
I don't have any trinkets that will stop a stun. I have one that increases the strength of my healing, and a Philosopher's stone that increases stats and makes potions stronger (why did they make potions so useless? I'll never understand that).
It's not a lot of fun, but the NPCs keep telling me it's important to do, though I have no idea why since it never seems to actually accomplish anything.
I wish there were some healing quests...
fauxgt4 May 12th 2009 7:37PM
You'll have a lot more fun healing as Disc rather than holy. The
standard build is a 57/14/0 or 60/11/0 build. Check out some of the suggested builds on wowwiki.
The disc build focus on "when hit do XX" or "upon being critically
hit activate power XX". Thus, disc priests make an excellent tank.
You can survive getting beat on pretty hard keeping shield, renew,
PoH, and a penance when you can get it in, as long as you don't get
silenced/ interrupted. Throw in a fear when the rogues get too close.
And you need a trinket. That is a must. It will save your rear more
than anything.
Disc priests are some of the most powerful pvp healers out there for
battlegrounds and 3v3 and 5v5.
But ya. You have to go disc. Holy sucks for pvp. Sorry.

The only thing I'd like to know is this: For raiders, is there any particular time that we should start 10 man Ulduar hard modes?
tatsumasa May 12th 2009 6:07PM
my guild has about 250 members, however most of them are low level or alts. out of all those people we can barely squeeze out a naxx10 run each week. we have run naxx25 several times by pugging half-to-most of the group.
the problem is this: we have almost enough people to do naxx25 runs. we have gear'd enough people to do uld10. but people sign up and don't show - a lot. the guild leader refuses to implement any form of consequences for these people because 'it's not fair to punish them for real life obligations.' i say that when i have real life obligations i don't sign up for runs, but she won't listen to me, or anyone else.
we also had the opportunity to merge another guild of 80 people with ours, mostly 80s, to fill up these raid spots and put an end to our pug problem - she won't even consider it.
i'm tired of gearing up pugs. i'm tired of people pugging, getting gear, then leaving for more progressive guilds. and while i don't mind helping people get gear to run higher content, i'm tired of not ever getting to that higher content myself.
i want our guild to succeed and progress. what would you suggest?
jbodar May 12th 2009 8:00PM
Bloody coup.
Seriously though, do any other raiders feel the same? Present a united front to your GM. If your GM is not going to listen to her raiders, then you are better served elsewhere. Go join the guild you wanted to partner with and take anyone you can with you. And when you leave, light the place on fire.
zweitblom May 13th 2009 1:39AM
1) Show your leader this: http://thebigbearbutt.com/2009/05/08/answering-your-questions-about-raiding-rules-as-a-casual-guild/
2) If she still does not react, get her to assign a raid leader team with power to distribute or withhold slots.
3) If she does not agree, say to her what you have said to us.
4) If that still doesn't help, she is obviously unfit to lead. Leave.

A question regarding creation.
We've recently learned that vrykul, humans, dwarves, gnomes and giants are basically all Titan creations, mostly starting out as "iron" constructs, and then succumbing to the Curse of Flesh to become, well, fleshy.
But we already knew that there are other races with seemingly more natural creation myths: the trolls, elves and tauren to name the most significant, but also quilboar, wolvar, tuskarr etc. Trolls and elves may even have the same ancestor (the "nocturnal humanoids" that first encountered the Well of Eternity, a Titan creation as well). Most of these creatures seem to have some relation to the ancient animalistic spirits and/or Gods like Elune and the Earthmother.
The question I have is basically on timelines. Did the Titans arrive on an Azeroth already inhabited by primitive creatures? Is there any relationship between the Titans and the ancient spirits (excepting Sargeras and his Legion)? What are statues/constellations of Night Elves and Tauren doing in the Antechamber of Ulduar?
Mognet T May 12th 2009 8:44PM
From what I understand, yes the Titans mostly come to shape planets that are already inhabited by primitive species. I've read somewhere that Night Elves and Troll walked the face of Azeroth before it was shaped.
zweitblom May 13th 2009 1:41AM
Uh, I thought humans were the mutated offspring of the Vrykul?
andy May 12th 2009 7:11PM
hey question time,
I was signing up for Arathi basin a while back and realised something weird, the defilers still consider themselves to be under the direct command of Varimathras, this just seems strange considering its after the battle for undercity. Also was there any sign of the defilers being traitors seeing as they were under the command of one?
What do you think the plan was for the sunreavers? they seem to have become a nothing fraction, no rewards, no quests explicitly tied to them and nothing has happened to there basses of command (sunreaver sanctuary) there not even in ulduar which is strange considering there a large force of krin tor. my questino is do you think blizz still has plans for them or just gave up after they were implemented?
zweitblom May 13th 2009 1:44AM
They organize the horde side of the Argent Tournament (http://www.wowhead.com/?faction=1124#quests)
andy May 13th 2009 6:56AM
yea but that's more the argent crusade, they just seem to have been put there for lack of anything else to do with them.
i mean no rep rewards whatsoever and the only quests that give rep for them give rep for other fractions as well.
plus there is nothing to do with them or the alli version at there quest hubs
Supernaut May 12th 2009 7:48PM
Geif epic lances!
sadloser May 12th 2009 8:04PM
Thanks for Kidney Shot info, that will help alot. I left my class out of it since I could see the hunter qq comments coming. 500 rez and 21k health and I still get torn down. I don't mind losing so much as I just want a chance to react. Thanks again!

I have been trying to post a comment to the Queue for a while now, but it doesnt seem to be working... It never sends me an email to confirm the post... Hmmm... Maybe it will go though this time as a fist time user again...
I wanted to comment on all the talk about the new battleground and 5-man instance...
Personally, I think the new battleground is going to be set in Crystalsong Forest and have the Sunreavers VS the Silver Covenant... Think about it... The zone has been barely used... and the bases for the two groups are facing each other in a showdown... What do you all think?
Also... What's with the Balargarde Fortress out in western Icecrown? It seems pretty detailed to just be used for a questline... New 5-man Instance Maybe?
What are all your ideas on these topics?
