We Know Girls earn Champion of Ulduar [update: not] world first
I think this is a good reworking of the achievement. I've heard a lot of horror stories about flawless Undying/Immortal runs ruined by a disconnect or a lag spike. With the Ulduar achievements, at least bad luck will only bork that one boss. And congratulations to We Know Girls!
Update: As pointed out below, VoS on the Sargeras realm and Bastion of Uldaman got the achievement May 9th, last Saturday, which means We Know Girls was not the world-first (due to the Armory's erratic updates giving GuildOx the We Know Girls information first). Grats to VoS and Bastion. Anyone know of any earlier than May 9?
Update #2: GuildOx now properly reflects the order that these guilds achieved Champion of Ulduar.

Ironically, I have a feeling that they don't actually know girls.
Oppugno May 12th 2009 3:42PM
Lol, I can see that being true somehow
Coram May 12th 2009 2:39PM
They could know their mothers ya know.

How dare you blame Guildox for this?
First, it would be nearly impossible for Guildox to crawl every single player and every single guild on every server, every single day. The overhead for the bandwidth would be incredible. It is the Guilds responsibility if they care at all about their progression rankings to add their guild to the guildox update queue daily.
Second, this likely isn't a Guildox issue at all. On one of the servers I play on, the "Still in Beta after 2 years" Armory wasn't updated for any player on that server for 2 entire weeks after 3.1 was released and there have been periods of time since when characters armories were not being updated. Therefore it appeared for 2 weeks that no guild on the server progressed any further than Flame Leviathan which obviously was not the case.
It isn't Guildox's fault they do not have an updated database to pull from or that certain guilds do not care enough about their progression rankings to request an update. Guildox and Guildprogress are an absolute godsend. Much better than the failed systems of loot tracking for progression that came before them.

How "dare" I? I'm not blaming them for anything per se. I'm just saying they aren't reliable evidence of world-firsts, since when I wrote this article, they were claiming We Know Girls were the world-first Champions of Ulduar, and that's simply not the case.
Hiwa May 12th 2009 3:50PM
You do realize that their name is a joke on that exact same stereotype? We Know Girls is on my server, and every time I've pugged with one of them they've been great people. Congrats to all of you!

Maybe you should have done your journalistic duty and checked the facts before you posted the article. I'm sure mmo-champion.com had the exact information your were seeking, or maybe you could come up with a better method of query for 50 million armory registries than guildox has devised.

Given that the article starts with "According to progression site GuildOx", and assuming that GuildOx is up to date, I'd say that Eliah's journalistic integrity is doing fine.
To update the article, pointing out the mistake once again supports this.
It is also totally right to say that this casts doubt on the reliability of GuildOx. No-one ever said 'omg GuildOx is rubbish'. Instead, the implication is that we should check such claims.
As for checking on other sites- when you have a reputable source, you believe them. You dont think, hmm I wonder if GuildOx's admirable attempts to maintain an up to date database has fallen foul of the size of data they are attempting to summarise.
In short- chill Winston. (and grats to We Know Girls on their achievement.)

(Pssst.. That's the joke)

They actually raid considerably less often and less hardcore than most guilds I know. From my understanding, the name was created to imply because they raided less, it would give them a chance to know girls.
They are a fantastic group of people, and I'm glad their hard work is paying off.

lol. Nice guild name "We Know Girls".
So let me guess. During the whole run they kept promising cake at the end?
JK of course (or am I?), grats to . It's nice to see a US realm achieve ahead of Europe.

Is that latin?
meld May 12th 2009 2:20PM
oh cool grats to em, they're on my home server :)
Spooner May 12th 2009 2:21PM
I thought Ensidia was the world first
Drachenlord May 12th 2009 2:34PM
No, they got world first Glory of the Ulduar Raider... which does not include this achievement
wow May 12th 2009 3:00PM
I guess this particular achievement isn't needed for the proto-drake reward.
