WoW Lifecounter tracks TCG life on the iPhone
Double Bubble has a good little writeup on a pretty useful WoW-related iPhone application. But instead of the MMO, this app centers on another game in the WoW universe: the Trading Card Game. WoW Lifecounter (iTunes link) is a utility that will (you guessed it) count your life points as you play the TCG -- it tracks both sides' heroes, and you can take away or give life points with just the touch of a button. It's pretty simple -- all you do is punch in the starting health of each character, and then the app will even track wins for each side. Usually, you can just track the points with a pen and paper, but if you don't want to bother doing math in the heat of a battle, the app can be fun to use. It's 99 cents, which might stop the cheap among you from picking it up -- we won't blame you if you'd just rather have a Junior Bacon Chee and write things down. But if you play the WoW TCG a lot and always have your iPhone with you, it's probably worth the investment.

Are you kidding? Who in their right-mind would pay a buck for this?
Yeng May 12th 2009 6:41PM
The same people that would waste the amount of money an iphone costs in the first place?

This is exactly the kind of stuff I'd use, if I played the TCG, or had an iPhone. Worth a buck? Probably, I dunno. I'd probably write an application like this myself, doesn't seem like too much work. On the other hand, a buck is nearly free for not having to do it myself, that's the whole idea.

I have used 2d10 to track life since I started playing magic, and probably will never stop doing so.

This reminds me of when my friend programmed a Yu-gi-oh Life Point Tracker into our TI 83 calculators. It can be pretty handy for those who play a lot. But at the same time, it seems like the sort of thing that should be free.

tba is free and does the same thing. I don't see anything wow specific in the SS. They'd be smart to remove wow from their name before they get the blizz hammer

Anyone who has ever played any TCG game competitively would KNOW that you must use a pen & paper to record health et al.
If a dispute arises about LP totals and a judge is called over..good luck flashing your iPhone to them.

20 sided die are all you need.

As a WoW TCG judge I have to say the following:
Using this thing is not legal in tournaments, as you HAVE to use pen and paper to track the life of your heroes.
Quote from the WoW TCG tournament policy:
"For competitive events, players are required to use pen and paper to track the damage on their heroes. It is also recommended that each player track the damage on the heroes of all of his or her opponents."

This is not legal per Sanctioned Tournament Rules.
Each player MUST use pen and paper for the judges to refer to throught the match in any major tournament. Sitting at home is a different story.
