An easy way to eliminate the garbage of the trade channel without having to /leave trade and /join trade is to use Fane addon.

Create a channel with trade (plus whispers). On your main channel, leave trade.

Trade is there when you need it, but out of sight when you don't. It's made my life a lot easier

Thank you for the suggestion! I have a separate chat tab for whispers, but never thought about one for just trade. Will have to give that a try!
