Changes coming to the Crusader title
We were just talking about this on the podcast last night -- Turpster's tip a week or so ago was that going for the Crusader title in the Argent Tournament actually puts you at a disadvantage, because if you keep from turning in the last Valiant quest for the achievement, you don't lock off having the ability to do both Valiant and Champion quests together, thus, as you can see in the thread, earning an extra 36 gold a day, which adds up to 1000g a month. After you earn the ability to represent every city, you can't do the Valiant quests any more (instead, you have to earn city reputation through the Champion's Writ, which costs you 10g from the opposite reward). In short, right now, if you're leveling through the AT quests, stay away from the Crusader achievement until you have all of the city reputations covered, and all the gold you want.Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), Bornakk says that Blizzard probably will make a change here soon to smooth everything out. But how they'll do that isn't quite clear -- they could leave the dailies (or some form of them) open even after you get the achievement, or they could beef up the achievement reward to make up for it. Not a hard fix either way. But yes, until then, you might want to rethink racing to the Crusader achievement, as there's more reward to be had by waiting.

I'm swimming in gold right now as it is. I didn't care about losing a few dailies. Plus I have two 80 alts I can do dailies with if I want.

want a medal?

Never did understand why they simply had to close them off completely though. As dailies they should just be there to do as often as you liked.

A bit too late for me, unfortunately.
I don't mind the loss of income right now on my main, but if I level an alt it'll be nice to have the extra money.
Personally, I was kinda hoping for another quest chain or something to open up after gaining the Crusader title. Maybe the Argent Squire could have a sixth banner for the Argent Crusade?

I figure this is the way they'll go (and should have gone in the first place). Once you become a Crusader, or no long able to do the Valiant's quests, there should be a new tier of quests open - maybe tougher than the Crusader quests which give nicer rewards.
Kill 20 scourge, kill 2 commanders, 7 lieutenants, and 10 gargoyles, fly to an even further away place than the other three dailies, joust 5 times against tougher opponents. Whatever.
They should have thought about this before pushing it out. Did they think people would be happy with three fewer quests to do each day in the Argent Tournament (especially when 2 of them overlapped with Champion's quests)?

I noticed this a few days ago after I got the Crusader title.
Oh well, I love getting titles so I don't really care.
jL May 14th 2009 1:16PM
Hm, this would be a welcomed change. I can only log in a short while for my 8-9 dailies now and I wouldn't really want to lose the Valiant dailies (aka. free money; who doesn't love free money!) that can be done simultaneously with the Champion dailies.
Jason May 14th 2009 1:17PM
I'm hardly broken up about this. There are plenty of Dailys for my main and level 80 alt to do once they get the title...I'll keep doing the Champion quests for the pets, mounts and tabards. :)
Akaru May 14th 2009 1:18PM
Being that 2 of the valiant dailies are 'free' while you do the Champion ones, and the one to challenge other valiants takes like 3 minutes, it's a no-brainer to keep the quests for extra 40 gold everyday. (It's understandable to skip the far-flying weapon quests) Unless, of course, you have too much gold already. But can anyone have too much gold?
Although, that said, it'll be nice if they find an alternative to this quick and implement it before next patch though, because I'm an achievement whore and I have to resist turning in my final valiant token quest to get my Champion with Undercity (and exalted) as well as the Crusader achievements. But for now, I can live without the title, and with 40 more gold/day
Eversor May 14th 2009 1:20PM
Four lost dailies is serious fucking business in a zone that crawls with them.
Leenja May 14th 2009 1:46PM
to bad all of them dont give you "main faction" rep so stilla pretty big lose if you dont want to do the low lvl quest for said rep.
placebo May 14th 2009 2:31PM
@Leenja :
The ones for Alliance / Horde all give Alliance / Horde Rep. I was getting Silvermoon rep for Orgrimmar quests. Now if you mean all as in the Argent ones too, I could see that point except the Writs give you 250 rep each. So you are looking at 1000 rep a day for any of your Alliance / Horde cities a day for doing the Argent portions.
Eversor May 14th 2009 3:02PM
@ Leenja
Yeah, umm... I am just about to get Crusader Saturday. Currently I am exalted with all Horde factions but Undercity, which is some 700 rep away. The only faction I did any quests for rep was Thunder Bluff, and all I did was cleaning up Mulgore. That's it.
If you are Alliance, this is simply mind numbingly easy due to high spillover rep. They all start off Friendly, you know. It is easy to get exalted with one of the Alliance factions even at level 30, which you can't say for the Horde.
All in all, this is in no way as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be, but that is hardly surprising. People are getting very used to comfort and are ready to bitch and whine even at the slightest change that makes things slightly harder again.
Eisengel May 14th 2009 3:35PM
"... ready to bitch and whine even at the slightest change..."
As you are?
Eversor May 14th 2009 3:55PM
@Eisengel
Actually I am expressing an observation. But sure, dismiss the fact that the real thing causing anyone BAWWW about this change is laziness. Call it bitchin' about bitchin', if you wish. Dismiss the truth. Your choice, really, but this only proves how conveniences spoil people. And spoiling this playerbase of entitlement... ugh, sometimes it isn't that comfortable in Blizzard's shoes.
Adamanthis May 14th 2009 4:51PM
@Eversor:
I'm not of the illusion that anything I do while sitting on my ass in front of my computer while playing an online game qualifies as anything other than spoiled laziness. But this is just poor game design.
The game is built on an task-reward system. It doesn't make sense to require players to choose between completing one quest/achievement on the one hand and increased profitability on the other. Completing quests and earning achievements are meant to reward the player, not punish.
If the "double dipping" dailies were somehow limited so that you only do them for a set number of times, or the dailies were completely different in objective, the situation would have been avoided.
Popesicle May 14th 2009 1:20PM
I figured that I wouldn't have access to those 4 quests anymore once I got the title, but being the Achievement Whore that I am, I couldn't resist. Plus it was cool seeing 5 pop at once...plus two titles.
DeathPaladin May 14th 2009 4:23PM
I got three titles when I got the Crusader achievement. I managed to finagle it so the rep I got from the final quest was enough to get me Ambassador of the Alliance on top of everything else.
One-up Man awaaaaaay!
Popesicle May 14th 2009 4:49PM
Nice. So I take it that was 7 Achievements to pop-up at once then?
I often wonder what the most possible at one time would be. I seem to recall a discussion of that somewhere, probably on this site, since it the only WoW related one I visit besides wowhead and wowwiki.
