I don't understand the logic. If people want to use crappier gear for a specific bonus, let them. Seems like a perfectly normal cost/benefit choice to be honest.

I agree. It's like tier bonuses. Blizzard has said they think it's a good thing to design tier bonuses so you have to make decisions. Do I keep wearing two pieces of T7 for that bonus, or do I replace with the Ulduar drop I just got? Which pieces would be the most worthwhile to wear instead? GC has said they plan for and develop this meta-game, forcing players to choose bonuses from what may otherwise be less than optimal equipment.I fail to see the difference. There are stealth bonuses, are there not, just as there are stealth detection bonuses? To say +detection neutralizes a rogue is like saying frost resist gear neutralizes a frost mage. Both are absolutely TRUE, but one is acceptable to the dev team suddenly and one is not. What is the difference?

Interesting that you bring up the cost/benefit analysis. It made me realize that this change to engineering is exactly the same itemization issues that Blizzard has thrown at warriors with patch 3.1.
