Two Bosses Enter: Mage-Lord Urom vs. Xevozz

Here's an annoying pair who deserve each other: Mage-Lord Urom of the Oculus versus Xevozz of the Violet Hold. Yes, I admit it -- when my husband IMs me from his office in frustration over the latest twist in corporate politics, I take a certain twisted pleasure in replying, "No worries – I just sent Xevozz and his stupid spheres up against Urom the bloody platform-hopper." Ahhh ... Takes the edge right off.
So let's start with the ground rules. Assume that these foes share similar levels, health pools and a comparative overall damage output. Of course, we'll allow Xevozz to be able to "follow" Urom from platform to platform (we'll leave the details to your imagination). Don't get caught up in game mechanics and what actual players might do in each encounter. Focus your debate on the three S's -- Style, Story and Scale – and consider the flavor each villain brings to bear. What do you think would happen during this battle? Leave your comment explaining what happens, and cast your vote for who you think blows up who.
Mage-Lord UromClearly my pets failed. Perhaps another demonstration is in order.
When Mage-Lord Urom, the third boss in the Oculus, is engaged in battle, he summons minions and then teleports to another platform – not once, but three times. The third time, he teleports to the Oculus' center ring, where the final battle begins.
Will the Mage-Lord's habit of turning tail and heading to another platform throw Xevozz off his track? Read more about Mage-Lord Urom's combat tactics, and pick up additional tips from players who've fought him.
XevozzBack in business! Now to execute an exit strategy.
Xevozz is an Ethereal imprisoned in the Violet Hold. He is known for his summoned spheres of arcane energy, which feed his power and cause him to enrage.
Will the power Xevozz gains from his Ethereal Spheres be enough to stay abreast of Mage-Lord Urom's horde of minions and evasive ways? Read more about Xevozz's combat tactics, and pick up additional tips from players who've fought him.
The smackdown
The usual rules apply: assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and damage output. Xevozz is willing and able to follow the Mage-Lord from platform to platform.
Can you come up with a convincing scenario in the comments that will sway other readers to vote for your victor of choice?

I'd have to chalk it up to Xevozz for this one.
Urom gains a bit of a head start during the Menagerie phase, as he isn't fighting his own battle, but then things start to even out as they come to the center platform. With the assumption that Xevozz knows not to stand in the difficult terrain caused by the Frost Bombs, he'll kite Urom around the ring, pulling his Ethereal Spheres with him, until Urom teleports to the center to cast his Empowered Arcane Explosion.
With the long cast time, Xevozz's tricky perception alerts him to the fact that something is very, very wrong, and he hides for cover, buying the Ethereal Spheres enough time to catch up to him. Once they reach him, he'll enrage just in time for Urom's return. Rinse and repeat until Urom crumples under the amounts of damage.
Even better--in the event that the Ethereal Spheres keep Line of Sight on Xevozz for enough time, he'll enrage and teleport himself AND Urom directly to them, leading to the end of the battle even faster.

even though most people are going to vote for xevozz winning because he was harder for them to beat, i think that in a fair comparison mage lord urom would win because:
xevozz would first have to beat 3 waves of ads, and after each wave he has to move away from his balls to get to the next spot, thus leaving him relatively powerless
after hes severely weakened from the 3 waves of ads he has to fight in the center, considering xevozz uses melee, i doubt hes smart enough to kite magelord urom, thus, when urom begins to channel the explosion, xevozz will be slowed down from all the ice around him, leaving him fully exposed, and beaten.

Considering that you can stop and rest between all the add fights and before the final fight, I'm giving his to Xevozz. Oh no, the mage teleported away...and then Xevozz can teleport too? That's pretty much the only reason groups wipe on Urom, the teleport + cast. Take that out and Xevozz is taking him down.
Jabadabadana May 14th 2009 4:50PM
Xevozz is much, much cooler than the mage lord, but unless he can heal between minions like we do, the adds are enough to wear him down too far.
Furthermore, in a straight up fight, Urom's explosions hit harder, and with no self heal, time bomb will stack up very quickly.
I think one could even assume Xevozz getting out of the arcane explosion and still losing.
They are both annoying, but Xevozz is probably in jail for mana crystal embezzlement or a mana-bank heist. Mage Lord Ur0m is magical powerhouse being empowered by the aspect of magic, and apparently for this fight, in his home territory.

Giving it to Urom. He is able to kite Xevozz around the room, dropping frost bombs to keep him at bay (Urom is a Mage, he's smart. Plus, he probably helped put Xevozz in that prison way back when he wasn't crazy). If Xevozz ports him close, Urom will just turn him into a living bomb and run away. Once Urom has put up with enough, he'll teleport to the middle and it's game over for the Ethereal.
Neodarkmatter May 14th 2009 4:55PM
I have to say Mage-Lord Urom because Xevozz is melee and with Mage-Lord Urom's Frostbomb it's gonna be hard for Xevozz to get not deal with it. Mage-Lord Urom could just keep running away from Xevozz and when Xevozz is in the right spot finish him off with Empowered Arcane Explosion.
Mognet T May 14th 2009 4:58PM
I see this is clearl turning to a case of "who-kites-who?". I still give it to Urom. You don't become Mage-Lord by being an idiot. You DO end up in jail for being an idiot.
Marc May 14th 2009 5:33PM
OK, that is the best, and most logical post for sure. I love it.

Totally smart comment - in the land of the kiters, the one who can stay out of Jail is the smartest....
Urom it is.
Roflpanda May 14th 2009 5:06PM
Xevozz. He has the coolest voice in the entire game.
Candina@WH May 14th 2009 5:29PM
Everytime I hear Xevozz, I hear Jeff Goldblum.
gs May 14th 2009 5:18PM
I'm voting for the Ethereal because they are awsome. Go Xevozz!
