Armory temporarily disabled to cut server load
Today being BlizzCon ticket sales day, Blizzard is anxious to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. In an attempt to lessen load on their web servers, they've temporarily disabled the Armory. In fact, this has been the case since last night, when I went to check out our main tank's armory after the raid (he had just gotten Shieldwall of the Breaker and I wanted to see what he was upgrading from).
This is going to be inconvenient for those of you attempting to form PuGs, especially PuG raids. Hopefully BlizzCon tickets will sell out relatively quickly, and this madness will be over, and our beloved gear-checking, snobbery-enabling service returned to us. How will you be vetting players in the mean time?

As a Dual Spec Pally who constantly shifts between four sets of gear and logs out in whatever....
I have often wondered how can the Armory accurately show my capabilities when it is limited to whatever I was wearing when it scanned my character.

Usually I find it is best to logout in your main spec and the appropriate gear for that spec.

hmmm... Armory usable by 11 million+ paying players against Blizzcon tickets for an event attended by MAYBE .004% of players.
way to prioritize Blizzard.

12+ hours of Armory downtime for 30 minutes of server rush?
Its sad that someone is getting paid for that. I'm waiting for the day when Blizzard can get any major action right.
$15 a month from 11+ mil people and they can't get a patch, an expansion or maintenance done without screwing something up.

Would you rather the majority of players be stuck at Authenticating like yesterday?

You know that that site depends on a working armory for updated info, don't you? I'd been trying since last night to force it to see my PvE gear since it had my PvP gear cached.

Come on Armory, I need to download stuff into Rawr so that I can look at it before raiding tonight. Get on with it!!!

They really need to take advantage of the cheap cloud computing options out there. They could have added 50 servers for the 2 hours they needed them for $0.10/hour /shrug
WTB Armory online -- I've got things to track in Hearthstone.
