BlizzCon ticket status

1:28 p.m. EDT: Sold out until May 30th. I'd really love to know how many tickets they released. We had people on staff in position 5000 in the queue not get a ticket.
Older updates after the break.
BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. At BlizzCon you can play the latest games, meet your guildmates, and ask the developers your questions. Plus, there's some great looking costumes.1:18 p.m. EDT: Queue is now over 21,000. 43% of the tickets are left for today.
1:12 p.m. EDT: Half the tickets are gone for today. Good luck to the ~20,000 of you in the queue!
1:10 p.m. EDT: Queue is now over 17,000. People are getting tickets, however.
1:09 p.m. EDT: It appears that the ticket queue is based on cookies, so if you leave it and rejoin you'll end up back in your original position. Do not try this though unless you're insane.
1:02 p.m. EDT: Queue is now over 12,000.
1:00 p.m. EDT: Tickets are on sale. Matticus is in position 840 after placing an order seconds after the order site allowed him to.
12:47 p.m. EDT: DirecTV and Web Streaming are not purchasable at this time. Nethaera posted as much in the forums a bit ago.
12:42 p.m. EDT: BlizzCon Store ticket page is located at http://www.blizzard.com/store/blizzcon09-tickets.xml
12:30 p.m. EDT: Half hour until BlizzCon tickets go on sale. Blizzard has taken down the armory to lighten server load, so it appears they're being proactive about things. This is good!
We'll post any news we get on the ticket selling here, including communication from blues via the forums or through other mediums. You can always find this post via the big banner at the top of WoW Insider that says "Click here for the latest ticket status."

I wonder if you can edit the cookie...

I jumped back in the queue when there were about 10% of the tickets left. There were 25,000+ people ahead of me when the tickets sold out.
kg6iwd May 16th 2009 1:34PM
I was number 50 in queue, and tickets were at 8% when it refreshed to "Sold Out". D'oh!
Codexx May 16th 2009 1:36PM
I started at 500 something in line.
4 minutes later they were at least 20% gone.
Got in, got my tickets, things went smooth.
At this point, getting tickets is less an issue of server problems and more about lack of quantity. At this point, Blizzard could probably open their own convention center! Hehe, fat chance of that happening.
Perhaps it's reaching that point where they need more than one branch of Blizzcon, though? We can do the live events from here, and you all can watch the live cast over in...whereverelseland.

Signed in seconds after they popped got 6000th in line and sold out, and the worst part is they are already selling them on ebay for over $500 a ticket, so we missed out so someone could try and scalp tickets for 4 times the price blizz was selling them at!!!
Cliff May 16th 2009 1:37PM
Dang it! The process was smoother for sure but selling out in 30 minutes is rotten. I got in que at around 10:10 and was dropped at around 10:29 to the Blizzard store saying 'this item is no longer available'.
I know they increased the amount of tickets this year, but that is nuts. I guess I'll give it a shot on the 30th.

Hey Cliff, sorry you didn't make it. My experience with online tickets is that you have to be ready to click the moment they open up. That goes for season tickets for some sports, etc. I was refreshing my page, and I clicked the moment the button appeared. There were two of us at home trying. My partner clicked 30 seconds later, and the result was 15 minutes later in the queue. That attempt actually did make it through to purchasing (we didn't actually buy anything, since we'd maxed out our 5 with my transaction), but we both started at 10:00 and 10:00:30.
Good luck with the next batch!
Chuck May 16th 2009 1:39PM
and the scalpers are already on Ebay. Gee, Blizz - can't restrict tix to account?
fen May 16th 2009 1:40PM
that would make way too much sense and solve so many issues. why would we want that?
Pipsi May 16th 2009 1:47PM
guh, I entered queue within seconds of it going live, but not even that was enough. Hopefully better luck next batch (or maybe this is karma for being one of the lucky bitches that got tickets last year...).
Kato May 16th 2009 1:37PM
The sad thing is probably 50% of those tickets sold today are going to be scalped. Nothing Blizz can do about that, of course, but it sucks for people that really wanted to go.
Protlinkka May 16th 2009 2:05PM
Mine won't be scalped! Maybe some will be, but they do make it a bit hard, since you have to show up with photo ID that matches the name on the ticket. Of course, they can all default to the buyer's name.
Lissanna May 16th 2009 1:38PM
Only about the first 2,000 people in queue got tickets.
Sken May 16th 2009 1:49PM
I joined the queue at 10:01 AM PDT and was 11,957 in line with only 89% left. Only made it to 7000 something when they went out. You know why I was late? I was playing WoW, in a battleground, not paying attention to the time. Crossing my fingers for May 30th. I just moved to California, I have no excuse not to go!
Protorail May 16th 2009 1:39PM
Got mine! Woot!
fen May 16th 2009 1:38PM
i got my ticket after joining the queue at 1700ish. my friend didnt get one and joined at 6k.
I think blizzard screwed a lot of people by allowing one account holder to buy up to 5 tickets. I'm sure tons of people bought the max # so that they could sell the SWAG bags and turn a profit. It really sucks for the people that actually want to go.
Mel May 16th 2009 1:39PM
My gf and I both got through I started out at 2795 and she started out at 2520. (total of 4 tix)
Blizzcon here we come!!!!!
Kato May 16th 2009 2:29PM
And already there are blizzcon 2009 tickets up on ebay for like 1000 bucks buyout.
YeaYuh May 16th 2009 1:39PM
Blizzard should go to a lottery system people sign up with the number of tickets and people get tickets randomly.
