BlizzCon ticket status

1:28 p.m. EDT: Sold out until May 30th. I'd really love to know how many tickets they released. We had people on staff in position 5000 in the queue not get a ticket.
Older updates after the break.
BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. At BlizzCon you can play the latest games, meet your guildmates, and ask the developers your questions. Plus, there's some great looking costumes.1:18 p.m. EDT: Queue is now over 21,000. 43% of the tickets are left for today.
1:12 p.m. EDT: Half the tickets are gone for today. Good luck to the ~20,000 of you in the queue!
1:10 p.m. EDT: Queue is now over 17,000. People are getting tickets, however.
1:09 p.m. EDT: It appears that the ticket queue is based on cookies, so if you leave it and rejoin you'll end up back in your original position. Do not try this though unless you're insane.
1:02 p.m. EDT: Queue is now over 12,000.
1:00 p.m. EDT: Tickets are on sale. Matticus is in position 840 after placing an order seconds after the order site allowed him to.
12:47 p.m. EDT: DirecTV and Web Streaming are not purchasable at this time. Nethaera posted as much in the forums a bit ago.
12:42 p.m. EDT: BlizzCon Store ticket page is located at http://www.blizzard.com/store/blizzcon09-tickets.xml
12:30 p.m. EDT: Half hour until BlizzCon tickets go on sale. Blizzard has taken down the armory to lighten server load, so it appears they're being proactive about things. This is good!
We'll post any news we get on the ticket selling here, including communication from blues via the forums or through other mediums. You can always find this post via the big banner at the top of WoW Insider that says "Click here for the latest ticket status."

As I write this - tickets are already being sold on Ebay.
That means those of us who wanted to go were aced out by unscrupulous scalpers who bought the max they could.
there must be a way for Blizzard to prevent this...

5 tickets was too large a max imo - they should have cut it to 2 tickets per person to cut into the scalper factor a bit.
Personally, I needed 3 so that would have kinda screwed me over but in the interest of fairness it's what they should have gone with.

I got into the queue a little over 3500 and I think I just barely got the tickets.

Got my ticket! Sorry to the folks who didn't. I hit the button in mere seconds and was already 700. Took about 5 mins to get to front of line. After I was done ordering, I checked on the queue and it was already over 17k with half the tickets gone.

Sweet got my tickets!
Awesome system I didn't even have to wait in queue. Must of refreshed the page the second they became available. I refreshed at 9:54. The early bird gets the worm!! :)

Is it possible to get the grab bag without going to the convention? Say by buying tix to the convention, but like have them send you the gift bag in the mail or something??

For those trying to figure out, I was in the queue at just over position 3700 and got to the front of the line just before the Sold Out notice hit. So I would say pretty much anyone above that probably didn't get tickets this go around.
I wonder if Blizz will release a larger number of tickets in two weeks. The may have been using this as sort of an open beta, with the real stress test to come May 30th.

Time to move to a bigger location...the LA convention center just up the road a ways can easily hold 40,000 people, and San Diego's Comic Con has had 125,000 people for the last 2 years.

I hit the queue running... started at 1,389... got in at 41% tickets left and got my 5 tickets... woo hoo... going to Blizzcon...

So gay, I got in line at 600-something, and as the minutes ticked my, my number when UP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you get in a line, shouldn't the numbers go down?
By the time they had sold out, I had worked my way up to 25,000-something. And I never refreshed. Heck, I didn't even -touch- my computer after. >.< What sucks most is that we were planning a whole vacation around this, not just Blizzcon.
Should make the one in a couple weeks max at 2 or 3 tickets.
