Forum post of the day: Go blues!
Snaboo of Greymane shouted out to the Blizzard posters on the forums. He appreciates that they are being customer focused and social. This elicited positive responses from a handful of blue posters, except Bornakk, who's still grumpy. Some posters disagreed about the attention the blues pay to the community. That they are slow to respond to "serious" questions or that they seem disrespectful of players. Crygil pointed out that in many cases there are several threads on a particular subject. The blues try to address at least one of them, but aren't able to respond in all of the threads on a single topic.
As for the types of responses, remember that blues are people too. Considering the amount of negative responses they get, I think they handle the forums with respectable grace. Their responses and comments should be considered in the context in which they were written.
Keep in that the blues are limited to the information that they have and what they can share. As WoW has evolved over the years it is evident that the developers do pay attention to customer concerns. The forums are an excellent place to vent those concerns, and also see how others respond to them. Changes can't happen overnight, but we've gotten much that we've asked for.
Keep posting on the forums, and hug a blue today. It makes Nethaera happy.

I think the blues do a great job, I wouldn't dare step out into the the forums, the sort of scum that reside there eat mere mortals alive...

You should see /b/ one day.
NeSuKuN May 16th 2009 6:23PM
most /b/tards are already on the forum anyway
Valdorin May 16th 2009 6:43PM
Theres a reason /b/ isnt moderated

Wondering what the hell /b/ was so put it into wikipedia and soon got to the right page.
Ouch - there goes my innocence.

The difference between the WoW forums and /b/ is that people who visit the WoW forums are there by choice.
If you find yourself at /b/, you are there by destiny.

I can't post on the American forums, so I'll post here instead and hope that someone at Blizzard reads comments on this site:
Thank you, Blizzard. Thank you for excellent customer service, thank you for endless dedication to your jobs, and thank you for creating and developing such a wonderful game. It takes a truly special company to pull off what you have with this game, with some amazing employees to keep it all running. From the community managers to the in-game GMs, the developers to the lore writers: you're all awesome, and I hope you keep going for many, many years to come.

Didn't a blue say that all you hear on the Forum is the QQ but so rarely the praise, cause no one posts when they're happy?
Because of that thought, I think the Blues do a great job.

Blues and non blues have been poitning that out for a long time, it's obvious however.
It's also obvious that everyone who posts on those forums has an agenda, bklues and non-blues alike, even the guy who posted "praise to the blues."
People only QQ when things don't go their way and by the same token they only QQ when Blue's don't respond to "their" personal threads despite their being other threads that have already given as much an answer as a blue can give. Additionally, the forums always have been and always will be filled with people "trying their luck" posting on the forums is kinda like grinding for "Insert whatever you want here" the people will QQ and moan and sometimes even try and form an angry mob to qq and moan with and they hope that, maybe, just maybe if they moan enough whatever change they want, be it a nerf or a buff or a suggestion verified might drop. Sometimes it does, whether it be by chance or because the Blues cave, no one knows but forums posters know enough.
Essentially QQ on forums is almost as rewarding as the drop rate on the baron mount and if people are willing to farm that then why not QQ on forums endlessly?

It's the fate of all tech support/customer service people, we only get called and talked to when people are pissed off about something. Sadly, after a while, you either begin to loose faith in the company you represent, or faith in your customers (or humanity in general).
So, as a tech support/customer service person myself: yeah, it's WONDERFUL to get messages/calls from people thanking you for your hard work and saying how much they appreciate you! :)

In WoW Blizzard have never really been high in dev - player interaction, but I suppose that comes with having so many players (and so many whiners that wouldn't stop complaining till a dev spoke up). But their community relations team is pretty good these days.
I like the system CCP uses for EVE:online where you get fairly regularly dev blogs about all kinds of things. This allows the devs to interact with the masses in a more controlled manner, allows indepth explanations of mechanics* and the like, and doesn't bury them 30 pages deep in on an obscure forum. Blizzes problem is that when they do answer important questions you often have to go to a third party blue tracker site to find it out.
Players relate better to developers if they aren't faceless.
* This is especially important as it allows players to see the kinds of variables involved in balancing. In EvE:Online the ship balance dev used to produce lots of charts that showed how various weapons compared under certain conditions. And on occasion a very smart player can spot a faulty assumption about mechanics a dev has made.

In the old days we used to get a lot of dev interatcion, on the european forums every class had a dev that would regularly come in fro suggestions and to let us know the latest changes on the class. Slowly they all got hatemailed off of the forums.
In those days it used to be the americans who complained that the europeans got all the attention, funny how times change.

If nobody whines, things don't get done.

Interesting theory, can i be the first to suggest we at least try it because as yet the scenario you mention has never occured.

I wish we had blues on the EU forums.
