What's your best BlizzCon memory?
Did you manage to get your tickets? I'm sure there will be plenty of folks who are returning to BlizzCon. I wasn't able to go but I followed WoW Insider's coverage of the event from the opening ceremonies to the final concert. It was an awesome time for fans to get insight on some of the behind the scenes aspects of WoW, including an art gallery, a sound panel, and an introduction to Ghostcrawler.I have to admit that even with the massive amount of information on classes and mechanics, my favorite part was the goofy fan stuff. I love how some people really get into their costumes and dances. I think I missed out most by missing the WoW Insider meet up. It's amazing that real people get so into our favorite game franchises.
For those of you who went last year, or even were following along with me, what's the best BlizzCon memory that you carry with you?
BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. At BlizzCon you can play the latest games, meet your guildmates, and ask the developers your questions. Plus, there's some great looking costumes.Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Fan stuff, BlizzCon

I think my favorite part was meeting a couple of my guildies. It was nice to meet someone that I was doing raids with for months. My husband and I (he's also in my guild) spent all of Blizzcon hanging out with them, doing the quests, watching the panels.

The one thing that sticks out for me from last year is the stand-up "routine" done by "Vork" of The Guild.
Don't suppose anyone knows of a video out there of it?

Hi.
............Thank you.
(hilarious stuff!)
Jay Mohr trying to stall while the judges took a loooong time to select the costume contest finalists, winners, etc. was pretty funny, too. I hope they bring him back again this year!

The whole event was surreal - I've never been surrounded by so many gamers cracking the same jokes I'd only seen (or said!) through guild chat. I also thoroughly enjoyed Jay Mohr's commentary on his previous Blizzcon "experience."

The after parties at the Hilton drinking in the lobby and the pool.....was a legendary time

The bad smell and the press of social awkwardness of so many of the attendants.
It was my first convention for anything, so it may be like that for all them?

No, I certainly thought Blizzon was weirder than other cons I've been to (which include Emerald City Comicon and a few scattered anime cons including Anime Boston). It was just strange. Not a single person talked to me while I was there - I was in Blood Elf cosplay, which I would have thought would have been a convorsation starter. It was just a dark crowded hall. The only person I met was the guildie I went with (and then two more guildies the next day at Disney). Actually no, I talked to a woman for a while backstage during the costume contest wait where we couldn't hear or see any of the dance or voice competitions. Oh well. I'm glad I went once, but I don't really intend to go back.

Last one I went to was the 07 con. I found Mohr's jokes kind of insulting the WoW player base, and was pissed off at him pitting the horde and alliance in the audience against each other, so of course I joined in on the heckling. Then when I admitted to being one of the hecklers on the forums, and Drysc perma-banned me.
So, yeah, Im kinda bitter about Blizzcon now.
