Breakfast Topic: Did you get your BlizzCon tickets?
In a stunning twist, we actually didn't experience any catastrophic failures in regard to the BlizzCon ticket purchases yesterday morning. Any of you who were around for last year's fiasco know why it's so surprising! In fact, the only real issue we can think of is that there just weren't enough tickets for all of us to buy this go-'round. Not even Matt "Matthew" ""Matticus"" "Low", the Smartest Blogger, was bright enough to purchase extra tickets. Thankfully, half of eBay was, so we can still (defeated though we are) purchase them for a million dollars. Or we can wait two weeks.
So, what about you guys? Do you like the new ticket queue system? Did you get your BlizzCon tickets? If not, are you determinedly planning on trying again on the 30th, sulking about and eating pints of cookie dough ice cream until then, or swearing off WoW completely and running away to live in a convent? We should know! You should tell us!

I played that game (and won!) last year. If I had the cash, I would have tried again. Since I don't, I'll happily watch the drama unfold while I do a favor for my wallet / sanity / blood pressure / overall health. Bring on the internet stream!

Didn't get one :(

Was about 5600th in the queue. While disappointing, I liked the new system where I could see how many tickets were left and having a place in the queue.
My biggest issue is the number of tickets one person was allowed to purchase. 5 tickets is too much...
I say we as fans try to communicate to Blizzard that only 2 tickets should be sold per order. They need to give more people a chance on the second go around.
I'll be posting to every forum and fansite to try to get the word out. It probably will not make a difference, but I have to try. I'm asking for everyone still interested in going to Blizzcon to do the same thing. Maybe if there are enough of us, we can convince them to lower the number of purchasable tickets per person.

5 is not too much. Just because you couldn't get any doesn't mean the system is flawed.
My group is going in a group of 8, and we managed to get 2 sets of 4. Between 3 computers, we got queued at 1100, 2000, and 3500. All three ended up getting to the end of the queue. (The 3500 didn't buy any, of course.)
If the maximum was 2-3 per person, being able to go with friends would have been much harder. 4 sets of 2?

Yes but you could have bought 15 tickets and it is commendable that you only bought what you needed. The trouble is that with only about 20,000 tickets available that means potentially only 5000 people actually have a chance to buy the tickets. When there are over 20,000 people in a queue to buy them, then in my opinion 5 tickets per person is unfair to all of the other people who want to go.
If you had been able to only buy two tickets then at least 6 of the 8 of your group would be able to go. Which is much better than the other 15,000 other people who missed out.
If you didn't get as lucky as you did, I wonder if you would be singing the same tune.
Since I wasn't able to get a ticket of course I'm a little upset about it. I'll get over it, but it's just tough to see tickets on Ebay at 2 to 3x the cost.

Got 2, one for me, one for my girlfriend. Was 700 in queue. When I saw my confirmation page I almost fainted.
Was jumping up and down looking like an idiot, while everyone at work looked on at me with a confused look on their face.
Hotel is booked, all I need to do is finish the passport (from Canada) and I'm doing t hat today, and order the plane tickets.

Marry me.
Charlie May 17th 2009 8:43AM
I wasn't close. 7,000th when i started.
Whats even worse, is that i checked ebay listing that saw that the pet is going for a few hundred dollars! with 38 bids.
Really getting suckered. You can buy the stream and get the pet too. >.<
If i don't get tix thats definatley what I'm doing. As much as I want to go, at least ill be saving a few hundred dollars if i dont get tickets =D.
Verit May 17th 2009 8:53AM
I don't understand this - you could subscribe to direct tv, buy the ppv show and get the pet for less money.
Zach May 17th 2009 9:21AM
I managed to get 10 in total :)
Shionia May 17th 2009 8:54AM
The purchase page was one of the most attractively-designed tortures I've seen in a while. :p
(No, no tickets here either.)
Mel May 17th 2009 9:17AM
My fiancee and I both tried and got tickets, we were around 2700 and 2500 in que. I was one of the lucky few who go through last years insane system of refreshing pages and seeing that aggravating murlock.
I really liked the new system, the countdown was very stressful but It felt good knowing my position and how many tix were left.
Risible May 17th 2009 9:23AM
I was in the queue right at 10am. Unfortunately for me, I was over 8,000 people back in said queue.
Hence, no golden ticket. I just wanted one.
A pox on the eBay scalpers that ordered extra to sell!
Thaylla May 17th 2009 9:30AM
I entered the queue at what I thought was a couple of minutes prior to the official start and still found myself at just over 4000th in line, so nope... no tix here, yet. Gonna try again in a couple of weeks.
I agree with Shionia... Getting to watch the stock dwindling alongside my place in the queue was just evil.
Conversely, a friend of mine never saw a queue. He entered his desired amount and went right to the checkout. Did he think to enter a couple more tix for purchase, so his dear friends could attend with him? Of course not... *grumble*
theghost May 17th 2009 9:35AM
i got one i was 325 it was quick and easy much getter than last year see ya at blizzcon :)
soatari May 17th 2009 9:55AM
I entered at 1400 in the queue.... and then my modem decided it was a good time to reset itself. Needless to say I nearly had a heart attack. I am so glad that they putin that system that remembers your account in the queue, cus when I came back online I was about where I'd have been if I hadn't disconnected.
I got two tickets after waiting in the "4 minute" queue for 20 minutes.
hkf May 17th 2009 10:02AM
lucky me got 10 to sell on ebay! :D
Gil May 17th 2009 10:03AM
I got my tickets as well. Just lucked out on my timing I guess. The process seemed fairly painless. Now I just need to book hotel and plane tickets. Anyone have suggestions?
hahnsolo May 17th 2009 10:09AM
If anyone didnt start refreshing the page 5 min before they didnt have a chance. You know everyone has a different watch and clock so I made sure I got my ticket and I did.
Its insane to think how big the que got so fast. The tickets actually sold out in 2 minutes or less but the que just allowed us to purchase them in a line order to prevent the server crashing.
I read the storys of people with card problems I feel bad for them. It doesnt sound like its their fault either. I hope they get there tickets on may 30.
I am pleased with the experience. It came and went off as advertised. What was expected did happen. Any who says it failed obviously were the ones who werent fast enough to get there tickets. Hopefully there should be the same chance or easier considering alot of us got out tickets already.
Good Luck everyone. Im going to disneyland! And Blizzcon of course.
