Ensidia gets 10-man Algalon world-first
Ensidia, the European super-guild that resulted from the merger of SK-Gaming and Nihilum last year, has just made the world first kill of the 10-man version of Algalon, Ulduar's true final boss. Algalon is only accessible after completing every other hard mode in Ulduar, and guilds are only given 60 minutes per week of attempts on him. 25-man Algalon has not yet been killed.
For details on the loot, see Ensidia's announcement; there's some great stuff there. Mek, from Ensidia, had this to say about the fight: "It's a pretty intense fight but not quite as hard as Blizzard made it out to be. The 1 hour timer is the real challenge since you must do a perfect attempt within it." Of course, I think "not quite as hard" for Ensidia is probably a pretty good challenge for the rest of us mortals. Congratulations, Ensidia!

You're just too cool for school, Kia.
Jack Spicer May 18th 2009 7:42PM
They're different because they get paid to play wow.
Kia May 18th 2009 7:50PM
"Because they're different from anyone else how?"
Because they get paid to sit around and play the game and it's the -same- guild doing -every- achievement. No one cares. At least no one that isn't a huge tool. e_e

Yes, it's never surprising that Ensidia gets world firsts. I'd be more estatic if some no-named guild came through and did it all first.
Though, Ensidia still deserves some applaus, being able to do so many World Firsts.
I wonder if they also got the world first kill of Hogger. (Despite being horde).
jfofla May 18th 2009 8:17PM
I absolutely agree with Kia.
These are professional raiders. They get a salary to play WOW. They do not have jobs, this is their job.
Yawn
miko May 18th 2009 9:41PM
no actually.
they don't get 'paid a salary' they get sponsored (which is a very different thing: go ask an sportman who's not in a 'major league' sport) at a low level which doesnt go much beyond free webhosting and what could be refered to as a few perks.
they do have lives (and very probably jobs as well)
'I'd say I have very rich social life personally, I couldn't ask for anything else. I don't see us as a no life guild at all. We're a bunch of determined raiders that put our heart into our favorite hobby. The last 5 months we've been raiding 2-5 hours a week' Kungen http://www.catchgamer.no/?module=news&f=single&newsId=8932
but i guess it's way to hard for some people to rise above the guttersnipes internet chinese whispers and see them for the sour grapes they truly are...

Quoted for truth.
I'll save my congrats for a non-funded guild of people with jobs and lives. >_>
wicked May 18th 2009 7:30PM
Assuming they beat him in Ulduar25 gear, I'll hold my congrats until they beat him in the appropriate Ulduar10 gear.
Wolftech May 18th 2009 7:33PM
Meh.
themightysven May 18th 2009 7:43PM
I like how in the stats comparison, all the gear are clear downgrades.
that said, getting a full set of 25 gear seems fast, are they running 25s to gear up their 10 squad? (i.e. loot rule is player x and y get first refusal because they're in the main show?)
Wintersdark May 18th 2009 8:37PM
I doubt they have loot rules. I'd expect a pro team to assign loot where it's best going to help them progress. This is their job; the goal is downing bosses. It's help bypass loot drama to a huge degree.
Particularly as they can all assume they'll have BiS in very little time as a result.
25gearedfor10s May 18th 2009 9:05PM
Ill hold my breath and wait to congratulate them when they dont overgear themselves for the achievement.
They are a professional guild of raiders who do nothing but play the game for these 'world firsts'. Heck, Im sure that if my whole guild got paid to play the game with mandatory hours of play, and goals that are required to meet, we'd also be a lot further in the raiding scene than we are. But, lo and behold, I have a JOB... and a LIFE outside of the game.
Grats to getting paid to play a game. woot

Overgeared?
Considering Ulduar hasn't been out very long, and this is the hardest boss in the game, I'm left wondering - do you know what that term means?!? They don't even have full Ulduar gear, after so little time in Ulduar they'll be mostly in Naxx-25 gear.
Perfectly adequate, sure. Overgeared for Ulduar-10 early bosses? Arguably (though I wouldn't agree). But for the hardest boss in the game? Get real. It's literally impossible to be overgeared for a world first on the hardest boss. If you take the time to get that kind of gear, dozens of others have gotten there first.
All I see here is envy, not only of their sponsorship, but also of their skill. Skill > gear. I often out-dps people in better gear, eg me with 3-4 Naxx-25 items, compared to someone of the same class with full ilvl 213 gear, and I was 10-20% ahead on dmg. And I recognise I'm not even close to Ensidia's class.
I think you can rest assured they could have done it without a single item over ilvl 200. But why should they? It would have taken longer, which would have been stupid.
Arivia May 18th 2009 9:10PM
Look at those quest rewards. What is up with the items saying increases mana regeneration by 12?
sprout_daddy May 18th 2009 11:27PM
Congratulations to Ensidia. Now they only have to wait another four months for a challenge :-).
Seriously though, I'm a little underwhelmed by those loot drops. The trinket is nice, but the gloves and the ring seem a little less uber than I thought they'd be on the penultimate boss of uldhar.
Mr42 May 19th 2009 5:14AM
it's still 10-man version, let's wait for 25-man phat lewts
...and I must say the trinket made me drool :)
Passerby May 19th 2009 5:07AM
Also, they seem to have gotten the world's first "Alone in The Darkness" titles as well.
Not that we're surprised or anything. Great job guys!

Im getting tired of people wining about getting overgeared and shit..
the ach that says downing him w/o 232 gear just how that IF, AND ONLY IF u can down him in full 25 uld gear , its considered an ach because blizzard didnt expect u to be able to do it easily
, (depending on ur defination of easy, but imo, algalon is not that easy even with the gear) , w/o the gear
(edit: it might not show yet, but yea, recently the ach have been increased to 232 ilvl)
next... if u check their armory ( which i did).... they are using naxx25 gear.. yea.. 25 naxx +(norm) uld(10+25) + hard modes... but mostly naxx expect maybe the weapon and such..(i bet u will see more people out there will better gear in random top guilds in all realms)
plz stop whining and just respec those people about what they did..
and for those.. if u have time to whine about they have no life and shit , and how glorious ur life , job , and family...
wow is their job, they have a fren there in cyberspace out there.. this is the 21th century not ur old style stone age where friend online in not considered a friend...
if u rly have the time to make such posts.. u rly have no life but cursing people and not just listen and try the boss urself or forget about this thread all together.. stop QQing more pew pewing... just because their paid to play doesnt mean they dont deserve the credit...
If u work in ur so called LIFE, and u get paid for a project that is hard in RL, and people commented that.. oh yea u did that job because they pay u and shit, when u spent so much time and people dont respec them.. u are gonna be pissed too ima right?
On side notes, after looking at the armory and shit.. those people who considered those people overgeared.. i can definately see ur lvl of knowledge of a true raiding cos u sounds like a loot whore who basically QQ for more gear to look super nice w/o actually having the skill.. so u kinda see why they are considered overgeared to u, cos u are forever never gonna come in contact with uld gear that is so majestic and glorious out there that 1 piece of it can be considered" WOW, u are overgeared hahaha....", maybe cos ur guild simply not gonna be able to enter and shit..
im pretty damn sure, all true raider outside who has stepped in uld and come to the yogg encounter and those who havent , have a general idea how much of an ach dowing algalon is, while those wierdos who QQ so much and stuff cos they fail to down algalon or other bosses in uld..
MinatorBearCat May 19th 2009 12:02PM
Yes...overgeared. According to Blizzard, you should be able to clear Ulduar in Naxx-10 gear. They are wearing Naxx-25 gear, which is itemized for 25 man raids, not 10 man. It's like going into Heroics in Naxx-10 gear and getting the achievements and saying look at how l337 I am, even though I OBVIOUSLY overgear the instance.
random May 19th 2009 6:42AM
ok.. here comes the good part.. they got the ach of steelbreaker on may 10th for the team who actually downed algalon.. u know what that means?... they got to meet him 2 weeks ago, and down him this week.. that is 2 hrs of actual encounter.. so last week for 1 hr they prolly record the fight for all possible things to take care of and learn it, take a break for a week and plan the entire fight and down him.. wow?
