Breakfast Topic: Do you treat Azeroth as a virtual extension of the real world?

So I'm fishing and I suddenly see my GM waving at me, dressed in her fishing gear (which also seems to include an Elegant Dress). So I invite, we get on voice chat and start talking while we fish, discussing everything from our real lives to the most recent wipe on Sapphiron. It takes me back to the days in my previous guild where I would meet a friend of mine to do some questing and then we would retire to a tavern, buy drinks, find chairs and chat over voice. Considering she lived four hours from me, it was the closest we could get to a girl's night out in the pub.
It's little things like this which make me thinks WoW is not just a game, it's a virtual world. More often than not, I log on not to play but to chat with friends who are scattered across Europe. Do any of you out there treat WoW as a virtual extension of the real world? Do you meet friends for a night out or use voice chat in lieu of a telephone call or in-game mail over email? Speak up, constant readers, and drop your comments in the usual place.

My guildies are more than just guildies and people to fill roles in a raid, their like family to me, my fellow officers specifically. There's a group of 5 of us in particular who've become very tight knit, and I can't imagine a day without them. I'd love to express what they mean to me, but I'm afraid they'd think I was nuts, haha. We live on opposite coasts of the US, 3 of them in the same state (2 of them brothers in the same apartment), and we're making plans for me to fly out and visit, and another to drive up, I so can't wait to meet these people who've been the main staple of my social life for so long now. They're like brotheres to me and have come to hope that they're always a part of my life. I behave the same way I do in game (notoriously clumsy and prone to distraction, lol, but awesome heals nonetheless ;) ) as I do in the real world, I really feel at times that my Druid is just a virtual extention of myself. She has introduced me to amazing people that I never would have known otherwise. Making connections like this truly makes Warcraft more than "just a game" (a phrase I think all hardcore WoW players hate, haha).
Oh, and it's so convenient, our little group of friends consists of a tank, a healer , and 3 dps. We've even started doing 5's together with that group make up in our main specs....we're not that good but sure is fun, rofl!
