Maintenance done soon, Battle.net accounts having problems

In a pleasant change of pace, extended maintenance for a group of realms is currently not expected to be further extended today. The following realms, which are receiving hardware upgrades, are expected to be up and playable by 1 PM PDT, as originally promised:
Area 52, Auchindoun, Azuremyst, Blade's Edge, Blood Furnace, Coilfang, Dawnbringer, Exodar, Fizzcrank, Galakrond, Ghostlands, Grizzly Hills, Shattered Halls, Terokkar, The Scryers, The Underbog, Velen, Zangarmarsh
All other realms should be up "in about the next hour," slightly later than the 11 AM PDT goal time.
And now the bad news. There are also some issues with Battle.net account authentication, as is so often the case. Blizzard is aware of the Battle.net issues, and promises to provide further updates by noon PDT.
Update: Further updates on the Battle.net issue will be released at 1:00 p.m. PDT. Most (if not all) Battle.net accounts are unable to log into the game.

This really makes me mad for one reason. The other day they were having issues logging people in who hadn't created a battle.net account so I made one - now all who did what they said and created an account are having problems.
Argh!!!

Same here. I play on my Mac (Wife plays on the PC) and I did the same thing. Hopefully it'll be resolved when I get home.

No biggie. I play on a Mac. The battle.net account didn't work so naturally I tried my former WoW account user name and Bingo! I'm in.

I tried my old user name and got the message that my WoW username was now tied to a Battle.net account and no longer useable to log in.
I, too, switched to B.net the other day when only converted accounts could get in to the game. Somewhat disappointing and odd that they've switched places now.

I'm another Bnet convert over the Authentication FUBAR from last week.
Can't get ahead, can't stay even, can't even get out of the race (unless I want to quit WoW all together)

We were getting ready to take on Razorscale for the first time when I had to reboot and got bitten by this, so I went and merged my account to Battle.net so I could get back to the raid.
I should have known it'd bite me in the ass like this. Fortunately my wife was smarter than I was and her account is still unmerged, so she'll be able to play when she gets home (assuming this isn't fixed by then).

You don't say? You mean that steaming hunk of s@$t Blizzard cajoled us into moving over to is having issues? That's odd - it's only the fifth consecutive patch day where Battle.net has created problems for Blizzard's paying customers.
Well, at least there's a way to move our accounts back to the old system if we're not satisfied with Battle.net.

Unfortunately for us pet collectors, the Tuskarr penguin and the unavailable-on-live penguin were two different models.

Still not exactly sure what that has to do with switching to a battle.net account though, cause me and a friend definitely didn't during beta, and definitely got the pet.

Different penguins, different names. The penguin I was talking about came with a mail in game that said something like "Here is a thank you gift for signing up with a battle.net account." Either way that's minor.
I'm still more annoyed that they keep breaking the battle.net login servers. What was the point of us doing this again? Cause I sure haven't seen a improvement.

You know, this is a real issue for alot of people. Realm restarts are valuable for alot of reasons. Many mobs reset, quest items, etc. If battle.net users can't login, we have NO chance of taking advantage of the restart while others can.
My server's been up for 15 minutes now, and I STILL can't login due to battle.net auth issues. I'm guessing this is going to become a persistent problem for Blizz - syncing up the authentication servers, Battle.net, and everything else.
