WoW Moviewatch: Gnomebusters
Maitseling of Chroniques Darnassiennes posted Gnomebusters over on Warcraft Movies. The movie came about because, apparently, Maitseling's guild mates complained that he hadn't featured gnomes in machinimas. How better to address that issue than with an homage to one of the finest films ever created?
The video's a lot of fun. I like the way Maitseling translated the world of Ghostbusters into something visual in Azeroth. My only complaint would be that none of the soundtrack references WoW, since the song and dialogue is pretty much a direct lift from the original movie. That didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the film, though. I'm old enough that I saw the original film in the theatre, and Maitseling's work really took me back.
Who's afraid of those gnomes?

A little too drawn out in a few places (and a few too many dance breaks), but great work with the camera angles. A cute concept and well executed for the most part - I liked it! :-)

Found it really lacking and tenuous in parts. Kind of felt like it was any excuse to use a thumping 80s cult movie in an attempt to get props :\

My only real complaint is that gnomes were supposed to be the focus of this movie...but instead we're treated like ghosts!? OH COME ON!!!

They were the focus, just like ghosts were in Ghostbusters. A plight against humanity that must be eliminated by an elite squad of hunters.

I love how they used a chest to capture the gnome. Good vid

Ok, I hated Ghostbusters, and even I laughed at the creepy 'invisible man' bit, even though it was (no pun intended) short.

Ghostbusters was my favorite movie growing up so I had to at least like this a little. It would have been better with a rewrite to the song so it would say gnomebusters and some original voice acting still preforming some of the same lines. But it was funny. I really like the gnome that pops up over the girl sleeping in the bed. That was the best part.

I liked it.

very cool visual look, a lot of great shots (i'm thinking of one close over the blood elf's shoulder with the cog shield moving). yeah, the dance breaks were too numerous, and the whole thing could have been 3 minutes long and we wouldn't miss anything, but that is more of a problem with the original song...

Loved it, heck, I just got done watching that movie yesterday actually. Can't wait for the game coming out.

1984 was a good year. My family bought the soundtrack album before watching the movie in the theater -- between the film stills on the back of the sleeve and Ray Parker, Jr.'s music video on MTV, I had no idea what to expect.
Cute machinima. My belly-laugh came at the "invisible man" dramatization, with that little guy rising over the sleeping blood elf.

Hello !
I'm the author and very surprised by the number of people that watched my machinima. Usually I don't pass over 1000 spectators. It's a great pleasure to know that I gave a little bit fun to some people.
Thank you for all these remarks. I'll integrate them for next movies.
